Does the sign exist to warn unsuspecting motorists, or as good business advice to prospective criminals?

t-shirt design with Zulu "love letter" and Afrikaner badges. Ingozi means danger.

An electircity pylon near my home painted gold by the evening sun and bearing a warning sign in English, Afrikaans and Zulu.

Sarabi has the greatest personality of all the lion cubs. She runs up the glass visitors look thru, was the first cub to eat meat, is like a mother to little Nyack now, loves to play and is a sensational climber.

Izu the African Lion was born in the wild on or about 10/15/03 and moved from Bester Birds and Animals in Lynnwood Ridge, South Africa to his current home at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido, California on 5/20/04.

He has fathered 12 surviving cubs with Oshana: Sisters Abena and Bakari were born on 5/17/06 and reside at John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Zawadi was born on 11/2/07 and resides at the Oregon Zoo in Portland, Oregon. Ekundu was born on 11/2/07 and resides at the Honolulu Zoo in Honolulu, Hawaii. Sisters Laini and Tamu were born on 11/2/07 and reside at the Jacksonville Zoo in Jacksonville, Florida. Ken and Dixie were born on 12/6/13 and reside at ABQ BioPark Zoo in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ernest, Evelyn, Marion and Miss Ellen were born on 6/22/14 and continue to reside at the Safari Park.

Izu has also fathered 5 surviving cubs with Mina: Kamau was born on 7/19/06 and lives at the Sacramento Zoo in Sacramento, California. Zenda was born on 7/19/06 and lives at the Brookfield Zoo in Brookfield, Illinois. Ingozi was born on 11/6/07 and lives at the St. Louis Zoo in St. Louis, Missouri. Sarabi was born on 11/6/07 and lives at the San Antonio Zoo in San Antonio, Texas. Kaya was born on 11/6/07 and lives at the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, Arizona.

Nyack, an African name meaning “strong hearted, one who will never give up" puts his arm around his best buddy Ingozi. It was uncertain whether Nyack would survive after his two siblings didn't make it but the undersized little lion never gave up. Mina's cub Ingozi, pictured in front, was always the loner of the 7 cubs at lion camp, his main companion was his outgoing cousin Ekundu but Ekundu spent most of his time playing with his brother Zawadi. After the initial introductions and bonding, the two lion cubs are now inseparable. Since Nyack is from a seperate pride, he must go inside before the adult lions go on exhibit as well as the 7 cubs because the parents would likely do serious harm to Nyack. Ingozi does not understand why little Nyack can not come back out with the others and often times protests and doesn't want to leave without his buddy.

Nganginjengesikebhe, ngintanta olwandle.

Wangikhetha, wangiholela esiphephelweni.

Manje emndenini Wakho, nginothiswa wuthando Lwakho, nginokuthula.

Uyangibusisa, unika amazwi Akho okwahlulela.

Kodwa ngisehluleka ukwazisa umusa Wakho.

Ngihlubuka njalo, ndlela thize ngikulimaza inhliziyo.

Nxa ngibuyela Kuwe, ukhombisa umusa, umamatheke ungisingathe.

Nxa uSathane engihlupha,

Nxa udeveli engilimaza, unami ekulingweni.

Danger sign at Cape Point in South Africa.

While Nyack was bonded initially with Ingozi who became best buddies, it was eventually Ekundu that would really watch out for Nyack. One day when all the lion cubs were given their pieces of meat, Nyack's buddy Ingozi decided he wanted two pieces of meat, his and Nyack's. Nyack was very sad and intimidated not being from the pride but Ingozi would not let Nyack have the other piece. Ekundu, while watching the episode unfold stopped eating his piece of meat and walked right over to Ingozi and picked up one of the pieces of meat and then proceeded to walk over to Nyack and drop it right in front of him. The keeper at the time, Amy, said she would not have believed what she just saw if she hadn't seen it for herself.

Kudos to Ekundu for such a noble and selfless act for his adopted brother Nyack!

Went by the zoo after work today... I set myself up for this EXACT shot...and stood there and waited. People kept walking by me and wondering what in the world I was doing, because Ingozi was nowhere in sight...then, here he comes up the hill to his "spot" where he likes to ROAR! What a magnificent sight and sound a lion's roar is! (even if it's at a zoo and not in the wild).

An electric fence around a house in Camps Bay, Cape Town

I decided to take a walk around the locality to see what I could find to fit the ODC Challenge today of Danger. Found so many that I just couldn't really decide.

The train belongs to a Chemical Company and the tanks contained poisonous chemicals. The one in the middle at the bottom shows an access point to the storm water draining. Almost everyone I saw has had the grids removed (stolen?) and were open like this. Dangerous for the children and at night I would think!

Hard to take Ingozi seriously as a fierce lion when he sticks out his tongue at me!

Nyack will now be interacting with the other lion cubs every morning where some of the cubs from the main pride will come out and play with Nyack and then Nyack will be brought back in and the remaining members of the pride including mom's Oshana and Mina and Dad Izu will enter the exhibit.

Ingozi, one of the 7 lion cubs born in November 2007, just before he left for his new home. Taken in Lion Camp at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, now known as the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, January 1, 2009

This picture was taken in Claremont (where there is scheduled load shedding (power outage) every Tuesday between 10:00 and 12:30 for the month of April, 2008)

Cold early morning air. Lion's breath. Makes for one spectacular image! Actually I was lucky enough to hear Ingozi roar several times this morning and take many photos at different stages of roaring and the steam that rose! All I can say is that it was so awesome!
