This dock isn't losing ground... it is losing the water it floats on! Cascade Lake is actually a reservoir and during the late summer, the impact on the water table is noticable as water is siphoned off the 40-mile long lake for irrigation. The dock will soon be high and dry on ground... the only water remaining at the northern end will be a small stream inear the oposite shore. When the rains and snow melt in teh springtime, the lake will fill again.

Orion, Betelgeuse, Jupiter, Aldebaran, the Moon, the Pleiades... - all in one photo in a single exposure. Delight that cannot be expressed. When I put the binoculars to my eyes (Delta Optical Forest II 8x42 with a very wide field of 8.52 degrees - inear field of view 149 / 1000 m) I immediately saw the whole of Orion - it took my breath away - something phenomenal, and this despite the already bright Moon.

I came across this lovely combination of colours inear Stensjödal in Tyresta National Park. This fuzzball covered in white pollen is a socially parasitic bumblebee, a gypsy's cuckoo bumblebee (Bombus bohemicus) pollinating on the flower of a woolly burdock (Arctium tomentosum).
They say that you don't have to travel far to find a good subject to photograph. This was taken a minute's walk from my front door.
We headed up into the Pyrenees ... and the weather was excellent. We stayed inear the very pleasant town of Ax-les-Thermes, with a thermal footbath in the main square (!), but we were really looking for Les Bains de Dorres ... of which we had seen a photo online. It is a cheap (5E) outdoor thermal pool in a vee shape, on the site of a Roman spa, with views of the mountains ... and it's all true ... Fascinating site and wonderful experience.
Here's the picture we had seen:

Handheld inearly morning light from the 12th floor deck of the Carnival Valor. Lens used was a Sigma 8mm Fisheye. We were about an hour from Cozumel and a storm was passing though. The winds up here were strong, i was happy that i was able to keep the image sharp with the slow shutter speeds. Hard to imagine that there are over 3000 people onboard....and less than 5 in this photo.
Also this little guy is slowly finding his style and personality. I decided to name him Monty. He's a shy little boy who is addicted to video games. He leave all his pocket money on game stop :o

The earphones included with iPhone 4 is nice because of its microphone and controller. However, the sound quality is poor. It's just not good enough for listening music.
I happend have Shure Sound Isolating Earphone with bad wires. So I decided to put them together.
Notice that the cable length is extended unlike other modifications that just swap the units. This is because the proper way for wearing the Shure earphones is to wrap the earphone cord over the top and down the back of the ear.
With this DIY, I just saved hundreds of dollars :-)

Introduction of Grain in Ear(芒种)
“Grain in Ear” means the grains are mature. It happens around June 5 every year whenthe sun reaches the celestial longitude of 75 degrees. During this period, crops likebarley and wheat all get mature and are waiting to be harvested. In Chinese, “Grain inEar” is called Mang Zhong. Mang means grains at the same time busy. It forecasts thefarmer is getting back to the busy field work. It’s the busiest time to seed millet and thedeadline for sowing activities. During this period, areas around middle stream anddownstream of Yangtze River enter the raining season. Sensing the wetness, themantis comes out, the shrike starts to sing and the mockingbird stops tweet.
Grain in Ear, or Mangzhong in Chinese, is the ninth solar term. It begins when the Sun reaches the celestial longitude of 75° and ends when it reaches the longitude of 90°. More often, it refers in particular to the day when the Sun is exactly at the celestial longitude of 75°. In the Gregorian calendar, it usually begins around June 5 (June 6 East Asia time) and ends around June 21.
The arrival of Grain in Ear signifies the ripening of awny crops such as wheat. And it is also a busy period for farmers. That can be seen from many farm sayings. One of the sayings is, “Getting busy with farmwork in Grain in Ear,” prevailing in many provinces. Grain in Ear is especially critical for planting rice. There is a saying in Guizhou that goes, “If you don’t plant rice in Grain in Ear, planting will be in vain.”
Traditional Customs
As the flowers withered away, people in old times used to hold ceremony to sacrifice forthe “God of Flowers”, showing their gratitude and their eagerness to see the flowersagain next year. This custom is already long gone and people can only read the scenein some of the ancient novels. In China’s south Anhui province, people steamdumplings with new fresh wheat flour after seeding the paddy rice. They make the flourinto different shapes such as cereals, animals, vegetables and fruits, color them andpray for villagers’ safety.
Healthy Living Tips
The best food to eat during “Grain in Ear” period, as suggested by Chinese doctors, ismulberry. Around two thousand years ago, mulberry had already been considered asroyal food and among the folk, it was called the “Holy Fruit”. It has abundant glucose, cane sugar, Vitamin A, B and C and many mineral substances and is very good forhuman’s heart, liver and kidney.

So, this is my every day travel kit. It is big enough to carry what I need. Possibly more importantly, it forces me to choose the things that I truly need in my daily kit and not the things that I might need. This bit of discipline is a good thing for me. My Ed Hardy Bag that is all about on what I need and not what I don’t.
Sounds like the perfect bag to bring out my inner secret agent...
So today, I just went to school and got loaded with tons of homework. I took this after I'm was done with the important ones and I can tell nothing exciting's going to happen today. I've also decided to sell my fisheye lens since I don't use it anymore and try to save up for the 85mm f/1.2L mkII. used of course.
