Gladiolous spear (about 400mm) slowly changing colour as flowers open. Indoor light from a window late afternoon with slightly extended shutter speed. Flower grown in pot in my Gold Coast hinterland garden. Flower turned into a national icon by comedian Barry Humphries as Dame Edna Everage.

I had to walk into town to the hospital to have a Aortic Aneurysm Screening so I took my camera with me. Yellow filter on camera.
I took this image a couple of years ago at Wimpole Hall, a National Trust property in Cambridgeshire. It’s a picture of the ceiling of the Yellow Drawing Room with its circular skylight. The room was designed in the 1790s by Sir John Soane, who described it like this: ‘The upright skylight will light the back part of the Room in the most desirable manner for pictures.’
I was attracted to the plasterwork and the light coming through the glazed areas. The central chandelier certainly served to add sparkle in the natural light, but whether it was illuminated otherwise, I am not sure.
The image was processed in monochrome with a strong blue tint using Nik Silver Efex. It looks like a simple image, but really it needed quite a lot of work to correct the perspective of the camera shot using DxO Viewpoint and Affinity’s perspective filter. I decided to leave the peeling paint and the plaster cracks. I hope you enjoy it anyway…

Black Beauty (specimen number RTMP 81.6.1) is a well preserved fossil of Tyrannosaurus rex. The nickname stems from the apparent shiny dark color of the fossil bones, which occurred during fossilisation by the presence of minerals in the surrounding rock. The specimen is housed in the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. Black Beauty is the 14th of the 20 most complete skeletons of Tyrannosaurus rex found so far, and casts are on display in museums around the world. In 2009, a paper by Jack Horner and colleagues illustrated the concept of parasitic infections in dinosaurs by analysing the lesions found on the cranial bones of Black Beauty. The specimen has been used to study comparative morphology between tyrannosaurids and Tyrannosaurus individuals, and some have suggested that Black Beauty should be classed as Dynamosaurus (=Tyrannosaurus). Black Beauty is considered to be the smallest of all known adult T. rex specimens.
Black Beauty was found in 1980 by Jeff Baker, while on a fishing trip with a friend in the region of the Crowsnest Pass, Alberta. A large bone was found in the riverbank and shown to their teacher. Soon afterward, the Royall Tyrrell Museum was contacted, and excavation of the sandstone matrix surrounding the fossils began in 1982. (wikipedia)

It’s been a while since I have done a set of interpretations of a single capture. This set is based on an image of one of the ornate chandeliers and ceilings in the Brighton Royal Pavilion. The Pavilion was built as a summer pleasure palace for George IV at the turn of the 18th century. It’s a marvellous, fantastical place. The image was taken last November.
There are four images in the set. I’ll link to the in-camera original in a comment as well so that you can see where we started.
V1 - This is a ‘proper’ edit using Capture One and Affinity Photo. This is the basis for the other three versions.
V2 - This version uses Nik Color Efex, which uses all sorts of compounded effects, including a bi-colour filter.
V3 - This version uses Nik Analog Efex to give a double image effect with two copies of the basic shot. The second copy is scaled and zoom blurred a little.
V4 - This version is a play with Topaz Studio 2 using the remix filter to change the colours. I’ll put this one in for Sliders Sunday this week.
I find straight up central chandelier shots interesting. I guess it’s the symmetry and abstraction. This picture reminds me of a spaceship, which is often how my little bear’s brain interprets symmetric abstracts. Perhaps I should have called it Rama 37 or somesuch. The Pavilion has lots of good painted ceilings and chandeliers so I was in a personal playground.
Anyway, part of the fun with these sets is letting you choose your favourite. It’s always interesting how people differ, though often the most popular is the plain edit (a humbling reminder of how easily I waste my time for no purpose, lol).

Two year old Ace on the left and one year old Mazy on the right, are the best of friends. As I was walking out the door tonite, I turned and notice them relaxing on the dog chair. I was actually pretty far away. About 30 ft. which was good because it kept them from noticing me.
I bought a new Nikon Z fc and 24-120 f4 Z lens with it. This is a nice little camera. I bought it because it's an adorable little retro camera. Very light! So is the lens! I've fallen back it love with Nikon. I'll still shoot with my camera phone, but this little Nikon will be my priority camera now. I LOVE it!!

Are tourists just like ghosts haunting a place?
When we are tourists visiting a place, we are just consuming everything? We "consume" the scenes, we take pictures. We "consume" the culture by buying arts or crafts made for such purposes. We work or produce at our home town, but we only consume or spend in our vacations.
If someone argues that you actually contribute to the local economy by spending your money, then this is "consumerism"!!!
This is a tourist shooting two other tourists in Gaudi's Casa Batllo in Barcelona when I was having my vacation there in 2010.

Gaudi loves natural light. He wanted to make sure rooms and space in his buildings are lited by good natural light as much as possible.
This is seen in the hall way of Casa Batlló when two visitors are seen behind the glass partition with the light coming from a window of the room.
I think this illustrates the excellent use of natural light in Gaudi's architecture!
To some extent Gaudi is like photographers who always think that light is very important.

A wide-angle interior shot of the Wallfahrtsbasilika St. Georg in Walldürn, Germany, highlighting its opulent Baroque and Rococo architectural style. The central focus is the richly decorated main altar with a large, illuminated painting depicting a religious scene. Studio 26 V 2019 - light
I had a mini shoot indoors with my f/1.8 50mm on the old D60 while the D7000 battery was charging. That meant manual focus which I'm never brilliant at though when I get it right it's a sharper lens than the f/1.4 using auto focus.

Main light: Full CTO + 1/4 CTO gel on 3 foot deep hexadecagon cam right. Rim light: full CTO + 1/2 CTO gel on gridded 16” white beauty dish cam left behind subject. Background light: 01 bare light hanging outside the window in a Justin clamp bouncing off of the other window frame spilling light over the wall cam right. My white balance is in tungsten which turned this light blue (I ended up turning the blue color into a cyan-green tone in post to match the overall color grade)
