UPDATE: Blythe Stop Motion Animation Project
Cobain is back home from her stay with stop-motion animator Phil Dale of @handmation. I've missed her! <3 ^____^
She's so proud to have been a part of the blythe animation tests that helped Phil get familiarized with Blythe. Cobain won't be starring in the Blythe movie short, but her experience in the world of stop-motion animation has been so much fun!
Please read below for the most current Handmation Facebook update on the Blythe animation project or click on the link below.
www.facebook.com/Handmation/photos/a.1605473956375945.107...
Post by Phil Dale:
"So it has come time for me to say goodbye to Cobain. She is going to be returning home soon. I want to say a big thank you to Maribel for letting me experiment on her precious doll, and in helping me discover the world of Blythe.
This is not the end of my Blythe animation project however, just a slight course change. My problem has been finding the time the project needs, and at the rate I'm going right now, with work and other commitments, I would be holding on to Cobain for a long time. That didn't seem right. So I’m going to move ahead with a custom blythe of my own to continue the project, and let Cobain get back to her mummy!
But maybe you, the wonderful Blythe community, can help me figure out what to do next!
There seems to be some real interest in seeing a short blythe film happen. So what I’m wondering is, if I was to set up an indiegogo funding campaign, that would allow me to take some time away from Laika to dedicate too shooting a short blythe film, would you support it?
Please leave a comment if you would.I'm trying to gauge if the viability of this idea.
Also, let me know briefly what your ideal blythe story would be about.😊 "

I am beyond excited to FINALLY share the project I have been working on for so long: Stories Worth Telling.
This image is the first installation in a series of 20 photoshoots that will tell the stories of Foster Children, on their journey out of abuse and neglect, through placement processes, and finally to a landing place of hope. I could not be more excited to share this hard work that my team and I have been tirelessly putting together.
All of you here, my Flickr family, have been a huge support and have helped get me to where I am as an artist today! For donating to this project, you can receive prints and even a BOOK that has all the photos for this project included (this will be the first book of my art). Anyone who donates and puts "Flickr" as their middle name when donating, will receive an extra print!

I launched my first fundraiser campaign to help fund this year's shows for the duration of 30 days on Indiegogo yesterday, FEB 14th, so it's LIVE now at this link.
Still, I am not sure if it's a good idea, but I really need to upgrade my booth setup to a professional level in order to avoid any damage to my artwork in case of inclement weather. Now, when I am going to travel to so many far away art fairs, it's absolutely a must-do. 70% of funding will go towards this main goal of my campaign.
Please, note, that in exchange for every contribution I am offering my original art (Archival Pigment Prints from my Limited Editions) for less than the regular value. It's called 'perks' in the campaign. If you'd like to help and have a little something from me at the same time, then THE TIME IS NOW.
I have an online store that is up-to-date with what is currently available in print, so please, check it out, and once you make a contribution, e-mail me at angelika.ejtel@gmail.com with the selection of your print so I can book it for you. All the perks will ship in March after the campaign ends. Also, now there is a bigger selection on the prints to choose from. As soon as my traveling show starts, I can't guarantee you'll get what you want because my work sells pretty fast at art festivals and in big quantity.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to every single person who will help me fund my 2020 traveling show❣️
You may or you may not know it,
but here is a project I have been working on since one and a half years.
It is a book I have curated. It brings you 32 photographers from 12 different countries with one idea in common: The B-sides of architecture.
Please support this book.
You can get it for as little as 29 Euros if you head over to Indiegogo.
But please have a look at the website first: the-b-sides-of-architecture.com/
I hope you will find it inspiring.

Lauren had every piece of camera equipment she owned stolen from her home. Luckily there is a BENEFIT taking place to help her get it back. Check it out and toss a couple bucks her way if you feel so inclined.
Hi guys! How have you been?! It feels like forever and I miss you all and this website! (And no number up there, whaat)
I went out with my mom today in the tropical storm because not shooting anything was making me lose my mind. Not taking photos for the past five days is like trying to quit smoking and I cannot do it and stay sane (not that I know what that's like haha).
So, I made my mom go out in torrential downpours because I had to feed my addiction. Thanks mom ;D But she wouldn't share the umbrella LOL
Also, print giveaway winners have been announced, you can see if you are a winner here :)
Hope you are having an awesome day, love you! <3
As soon as I am done uploading this, my mom and I are going to go donate to Ben's camera fund because he is awesome, and if you don't know his work, you should definitely check it out!

Sneak peak of one of the shots of one of our artists Ana Beschia from the National Slovak Theater who is being supported by fellow dancer Dominic Slavkovsky. We had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with them as part of our Von Wong does Europe tour. A super simple shot taken on a simple black backdrop, I find this image particularly exciting simply because of the way their bodies are so perfectly intertwined... hope you enjoy it too.

Excerpt from www.artintheopen.ca/explore#sdf:
The downtown's latest mural, located across from Mahtay Cafe on Garden Park Street, depicts three young women on their cellphones; together, but still separate. It's an increasingly -- and worryingly -- common sight, which is why the artist chose it as the subject for his multi-story mural. "I don't want to criticize anything," said Barcelona-based muralist Jupiterfab. "I just want to make people reflect about it." The mural is accompanied by the question "IS THIS MODERN SOCIETY?". To Jupiterfab, the idea of mobile phones and other modern technology changing the way we interact with others -- googling directions instead of asking for them, looking at your phone instead of those around you -- is a social topic worthy of reflection. “We use phones, and other technologies, it’s part of the evolution of our society, and it’s good, but I just want to make people reflect about the abuse of these things," said Jupiterfab. On his Indiegogo page for the piece, the artist stated that the mural is "about mobile phone addiction and the way we live a virtual life instead of the real one". "I'm going to represent a group of people, standing together, but instead of interacting between each other and chatting and laughing, they're going to stay watching their own mobile phone and playing with it," he said. Jupiterfab's mural was commissioned by local business owner John Fulton, of Fulton Fitness, as a part of the Niagara International Mural Festival (NIMF). Founded by Fulton 15 years ago as an informal "graffiti jam" event, there was a reaction to how local street artists were being marginalized in the community. Graffiti has always carried a negative connotation, and Fulton knew that by sanctioning the art, it could help to legitimize its presence in the local community. "I went about organizing the local building owners, and one guy who probably owned half the properties down the alley at the time said ‘I’m not on board unless the police are on board’, so I went to the superintendent and he was like, ‘Last time I was out walking a beat, I had the same idea’," said Fulton. "So, our first piece was a promotion for the AIDS Walk [Walk For Life], and that kind of solidified it." So far self-funded and organized by Fulton, this year's festival was the first to feature international talent from Jupiterfab, with the help of local sponsors and support from Mahtay Cafe, Carlisle Suites, Loop Recycled Paint and the St. Catharines Downtown Association. “It’s grown from being hosted in just the alley there, to being all along Garden Park, and now we're down at the steps [beneath the Meridian Centre walkway] and on different walls on St. Paul, and hopefully soon outside of the region,” said Fulton. "The event really is year-long, because people come to see it year round, and we get lots of art tourists through." “What I like [about muralism] is that the target of your communication is different, because if you have an exhibition, who can you reach?" said Jupiterfab. "The people you can reach is a small amount of people, but when you paint a mural, it’s for everybody. I just want people to stop, even for five seconds, and make them reflect and see things from a different angle." St. Catharines' downtown has always been full of street art and downtown murals, but thanks to organized efforts like the NIMF, it's becoming a more intentional, representative part of the downtown visage. What was once considered vandalism around the world has grown into a valued subculture of modern art thanks to big names like Banksy, Jupiterfab, and our own local talent like Heccho, and Runt. With its ever-growing gallery of new sights, tastes, and experiences, the downtown has never given more reason to look up from your phone. For the next year, passers-by, gym-goers and Mahtay patrons can enjoy Jupiterfab's work before a new mural takes its place at next year's bigger and better NIMF.
Here is another shot from my San Francisco set that is up on the blog.
Also if you can, spread the word on the "Phoot Camp Benefit" page to help LaurenLemon. Last week while sleeping someone broke into her apartment and stole all her photography gear. If you ever have had something stolen you know what a sickening feeling that can be. Or you can just paypal me..for ever donation I get, I'll send Lauren a short e-mail saying how bad that sucks for her :)

I experienced great light on these dunes during my visit in January. They had clearly just been rained heavily upon, so there may be some wildflowers in the area later this spring.
I would like to show these dunes to photographers on some of my 2017 workshops in Death Valley!
The workshops are one way that I pay for researching and writing my guidebook "Photographing California Vol. 2 - South". Consider supporting me in some way if you've been enjoying or have benefited from my work over my past 11 years here on Flickr.
For my future guides I may create a Kickstarter or IndieGoGo proposal to formalize the funding.

Photo 4 for Stories Worth Telling. Shooting at this location was such a blast! I felt like I was entering a fiction novel, like the Boxcar Kids books I read when I was a kid. This took place on my roadtrip to California back in December, and it was an honor to shoot alongside my talented friends Jennifer Ilene, Peter Jamus, Sarah Loreth and Shane Black! A huge thank you to these brave little models- it was cold and getting dark when we shot this! I'll be sharing another really cool shot or two from this location!

<3 you all!
This is “THE” snowflake that was used to model the snowflake ornaments I’m currently crowdfunding, with only 4 days left to go!
www.indiegogo.com/projects/snowflake-ornaments-by-don-kom...
This snowflake has a few classic features that add extra beauty to these designs, starting in the very center. The hexagonal button-like gem in the center is what remains of a twin plate growing out of a center column connecting the two; this snowflake began its life as a column.
Column-type snowflakes usually form in slightly warmer weather, a few degrees below the freezing point. If the temperature drops while the crystal is still growing, it will shift into plate-like growth on either ends of the column. At this early stage, the two plates will likely be growing outward at an equal pace, but if a gust of wind or a pocket of higher humidity hits one side of the snowflake before the other, it gets more building blocks (water vapour) and grows a little faster.
At that point, the battle is over. As soon as one plate grows beyond the footprint of the other, the smaller plate has very little access to water vapour and will remain a tiny gem for the rest of the snowflake’s life. The larger plate will continue to grow outward, eventually growing branches, side-branches, and more unique features.
At the point where we see the first side-branches, the tip of the out-growing branch develops a small cavity. This happens when the top and bottom edge grow faster than the area inside the facet and it’s responsible for all the bubbles we see inside of snowflakes. If a cavity on the tip of a branch becomes larger, it’ll eventually split the top and bottom edges into new plates that compete for growth just like what happened in the center. The bottom-side won again, and you can even see a shadow in the original image that illustrates this shift
One of the side-branches doesn’t match the others, but showcases a very interesting phenomenon in snowflake growth. If a droplet of super-cooled water collides with the snowflake, it’ll freeze on impact (we see a lot of that along the outer edge, left off of the model, called “rime”). In one instance, this droplet protruded enough at exactly the right stage of growth to replace what would have been a normal side-branch. This branch is growing on a different plane, almost like it was just glued on top of the crystal. It also has its surface features on the opposite side of the crystal compared to everything else.
One side of a snowflake typically has surface detail, and the other is mostly void of any features except for some inward-growing lines caused by a thick outer edge growing back towards the center of a snowflake. In a split-crystal design, it’s very common for branches growing on different planes to have features on opposing sides, and we get a little hint of that here as well.
This snowflake has a lot of complexities, but is still has a very “classic” feel. That’s why it was chosen for the first snowflake ornament! Some features were left off such as a few hitchhiking small snowflakes and the rime on the outer edges, just to keep the core snowflake at the heart of the presentation.
Check out the crowd-funding campaign to get a copy of this snowflake to hang on your Christmas tree or to simply use as a nice winter decoration to celebrate the season: www.indiegogo.com/projects/snowflake-ornaments-by-don-kom...
If you walk the streets of Portland, Oregon, the odds are good that you’ve met Elvis impersonator Les Small, and further, that you remember the encounter. Small is a singular character and one that is hard to forget.
Portland photographers and filmmakers David Malmborg and Tracy Pitts are currently in the process of making a feature-length documentary on Small, and it promises to be fascinating.
I encourage you to follow the link below to watch the trailer, and to consider donating a few dollars to the project.

Presenting Andrey Das - one of the artists that I have had the privilage to work with during my Von Wong does Europe tour. We did a late night shoot (10 PM to 5 AM) in an abandonned building and this was an experimental shot we took together combining multiple exposures and some amazing firebreathing. What that means for the less tech savy is : no photoshop.
More to come. I know it's been a while since I've posted a "real" photo and I wanted to share a little more of the trip than just iphone instagram shots! :)
Enjoy. I'm off to bed! Long day tomorrow ~

Last week while my sister and I were at home sleeping, my apartment was broken into and ALL of my camera gear was stolen. All BUT my Rolleiflex - which, in the end is really the only camera I truly care about. The other gear, it's all just Stuff, but my Rolleiflex was passed down from my aunt and it has way more sentimental value than anything digital ever.
But, I'm still out thousands and thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Which makes work a bit more difficult for me for a while. Because while I love my Rolleiflex, it's a big huge digital work world out there.
So, the incredible people of Phoot Camp have organized a fundraiser for me. If you'd like to help me replace my equipment, while collecting some signed artwork please check out the PHOOT CAMP BENEFIT page.
Please spread the word, and I thank you all in advance.

As you probably already know I run crowd funding campaign for the LEGO Star Wars animation (Escape 2). This Imperial Base was built as a scenery for this movie. It is one of the many sets which will be used there.
Usually the sets for a movie are built totally different than ordinary MOCs. Often they are created for specific shots and they are empty from most of the sides. But because of the story and specific scenes from the animation I build this one more like a classic MOC. Additional motive to do so was my LUGs Pixel Heaven 2018 exhibition in Poland. There was request for the Star Wars themed MOCS. So I build some additional stuff (like "smoothing" diorama edges and some final touches to the rear part of the hill). They won't be visible in the film, but without it the diorama would be less pleasant to watch in real life.
If you want to see this diorama with running mini-figs and epic action scenes please support my movie at Indiegogo.
Link: igg.me/at/escape2
As a thank you gift you can get lot of interesting stuff, like instructions for all the ships and walkers from this diorama (and for some more models). The cheapest support is just 1 buck. It is not a lot but it can help a lot :)

Do you ever look at a picture and feel like it captured something of YOU - like your heart in an image? That is how I feel with this one because of how badly I want to be enveloped by nature. How beautiful would that be? Though I wanted to shoot this ambiguously, where it could be seen as loving or not - being welcomed or being trapped. It was an absolute blast to shoot and I have a BTS video coming out tomorrow all about it and another picture I shot at the same time.
Life has been beautiful, and a lot of that, I think, is because I've been making sure to see it that way. This may sound weird, but this morning I woke up, closed my eyes again, and imagined a perfectly clean chalk board. Then I imagined myself writing "You will have a beautiful day" on it over and over again until I felt calm and ready to have a brilliant morning.
And then I thought - what's better than getting on Flickr and writing all of that down :P But seriously though, I hope that you do have a beautiful day and that many creative and wonderful things come of it. I'm doing many things at once, like working on a presentation for a class I'm doing in Dubai and packing my suitcase for India (I leave on Wednesday!!) and just generally cleaning and trying to cook healthy foods to take on the plane.
Here is part of what I'm doing in India: www.indiegogo.com/projects/photography-school-for-survivo...
