I hope all are having a fine week. Our fireworks have been postponed, due to approaching thunderstorms. Too bad, as I had the night off from the zombie lab.
Wishing all our American friends a happy Independence Day.
This pano shot of Wednesday nights storm reminded me of the alien spaceship arrival in the 1996 movie, which came appropriately on Independence Day...
Have a wonderful holiday all!
The storm that rolled through our area July 4th reminded me of the alien attack from the movie from 1996. Unlike the movie though, everything was left standing!
Have a great weekend everyone!
On the anniversary celebrating the declaration of independence from England and the birth of democracy in the United States, this large mature bald eagle showed up near our house, its feathers ruffled after hearing rumors of an attempted coups d'etat and questionable decisions by the high court of the land. This is the official residence of the president of the Republic of Suriname. It is located in the Independence Square, accross the Palmtuin, the Garden of Palms. The most important governmental offices are located around this Square with some nice historical buildings. Built in 1730 by the Colonial Government of the former Dutch Guayana.
Wildflowers are still blooming in the foreground with the Independence Gold Mine far back and in the center of the photograph. This was a lovely day in the Talkeetna Mountains, looking rather verdant with large clouds roaming the sky. The gently curving sides tell the story that there was a glacier here in the past, very interesting as we're near the top of the mountains at this point.
Taken 1 July 2022 near Hatcher Pass, Alaska.
Another panoramic view of the area around Bryce Canyon.
