The storm that rolled through our area July 4th reminded me of the alien attack from the movie from 1996. Unlike the movie though, everything was left standing!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Well sort of independent - Mum and Dad were not far away to the left of frame.
On the anniversary celebrating the declaration of independence from England and the birth of democracy in the United States, this large mature bald eagle showed up near our house, its feathers ruffled after hearing rumors of an attempted coups d'etat and questionable decisions by the high court of the land. Hoping democratic order would remain, it eventually spread its wings and took off.
and Freedom!!! What many have paid the ultimate price to protect, while a few others unfortunately have tried to take away. Photo taken outside one of the last remaining U.S. Bases in Germany at 23:00 CEST, 4 July 2014.
To all who have served, are currently serving and especially to those that have paid the ultimate price for our freedom....THANK YOU
This is a crop of a quilt a local mother and sister made for their son/brother. It is fashioned from pieces of his uniforms and is large enough for a king size bed. There are over 720 pieces of material that were hand cut, ironed and positioned prior to the quilting. It is a gift to show appreciation for the sacrifices he made and to honor his service to his family and country.

Sete de setembro, o Dia da Pátria, quando todas as cidades brasileiras se tingem de verde e amarelo. Dia de desfile e manifestações de civismo, que deveriam se repetir amiúde, espontaneamente.

I spent an evening in a spring snow storm in the Colorado National Monument this week. It was a sight to behold. The snow was blowing and looked like fog in the canyons and nooks. The scene was beautiful and the evening light was very nice too. The moisture emboldened the earthy tones. The only thing that would have made the evening better would to have seen some desert sheep.
Thanks for visiting my stream, I appreciate any comments that you leave for me,

Independence Day of the United States, also referred to as Fourth of July or July Fourth in the U.S., is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress declaring that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America, and no longer part of the British Empire

This photo really was taken on Independence Day. Reminds me a lot of the movie by the same name. Where's Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, and Russel Casse when you need them? This storm front brought some destruction to the west side of Omaha.
By the way, if you zoom in, you can see orange balls on the power lines. They're to help Crop Dusters see the power lines in time to pull up and miss them. Russel Casse would have appreciated that.
