My contribution to Photo Sunday with the theme of prints.

I think the tree's image against the sky fits the theme.

Mitt bidrag till Fotosöndag med temat avtryck.

Trädets avbildning mot himlen tycker jag passar till temat.

[Dedicated to CRA (ILYWAMHASAM)]

The wonderful, rare, wild Sea Holly [Eryngium Maritimum ] grows in isolated places along the coast here on stabilised sand dunes.

Its differing green coloured and white veined and edged leaves which are almost luminous, make it very attractive I think. The seed heads which are just forming will eventually turn a light purple/blue adding to its lovely appearence. These plants can survive in extremely inhospitable places and can exist with very little moisture and are salt and wind tolerant. They were originally plants of the high arid places of the World such as the Peruvian mountains and the Andes. They somehow, with many other similar plants, migrated here some 15000 years ago as their imprints have been found in Fossils from these areas. Luckily no one was building border walls then!!

Ive reported the location of this beautiful plant to the Biodiversity Dept of Trinity College, Dublin who will log its position for future study.

This plant is said to have aphrodisiac properties but others say its not true. Mind you swalowing the prickily leaves is...er... would be quite severe and Im saying no more as my throat is killing me at the moment!!! And you lot, behave yerselves!!! Lol!

Hope you like the photo.

The new road runs along the old road. I can see it

still imprinted on the earth, not twenty feet away

as I drive west past silos and farmsteads, fruit stands and hogs.

Once in Kansas, I stood in a field and watched

the stars on the horizon revolve around my ankles.

People are always moving, even those standing still

because the world keeps changing around them, changing them.

When will the cities meet? When will they spread until

there is a single city—avenue to avenue, coast to coast?

What we call "the country" is an undeveloped area

by the side of the road. There is no "country," there is no "road."

It's one big National Park, no longer the wilderness it was.

But the old world exists under the present world

the way an original painting exists under a newer one.

The animals know: their ancient, invisible trails cross

and re-cross our own like scars that have healed long ago.

Their country is not our country but another place altogether.

Anything of importance there comes out of the sky.

In Amarillo the wind tries to erase everything, even the future.

It swoops down to scrape the desert clean as a scapula.

Here among bones and bleached arroyos the sun leans

through my window at dawn to let me know

I'm not going anywhere. There's no more anywhere to go

But Süleymaniye Mosque holds yet more surprises. You exit the courtyard through the gate that opens onto the Golden Horn, walk to the edge of the garden, and suddenly find yourself facing a breathtaking overlook. A forest of domes descends toward the Bosphorus, and in the distance you can take in the strait, the Asian shore, the Golden Horn, and virtually the entire skyline of Istanbul.

I can say without exaggeration that it was one of the most moving moments of the entire trip. So much so that I returned the following day. After the delightful harmony of the mosque’s interior, you can let your eyes rest for a long while on this panorama—which, by the way, is utterly impossible to capture in a single photo. Better to set the camera aside and try to imprint the image on your memory, so you can return to it later in your mind.

There are many little villages in Quebec that showcase local art in tasteful ways throughout their area. I have seen it with benches on the Main Street in Aylmer that look like sculptures but you can sit on them. Manhole covers on the street have neat art imprinted in the metal. In the towns we explored along the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, people display carved wood or metal statues on their lawns, in front of churches and in beautiful small parks. This is a fence along a boardwalk in a small park that is being beautified beside the Chutes de la Rivières du Sud. You can see the spray coming from the waterfall behind it. Enjoy art in your community this summer! Happy Fence Friday!

I think this must be the snowy imprint of a raven's wings. Very clear, no feet or tail.

Following a windy day and rainy night some of the gypsum dunes revealed strange patterns. You could think a spaceship from the beyond has landed here. Photo taken at White Sands National Park, New Mexico, USA

As this giant Aloe unfolds, the prior leaf thorn imprints stay on the leaf side for some time. Fascinating pattern. Looks almost like fresh clay, but is actually a very firm leaf.

The photographer, the plaster cast head of the Olympian Hermes, and the imprint of his face compacted to an aluminium ball.

during our walk-about after lunch on friday afternoon, we stopped at azi's cafe on 9th and O. looks like when the sidewalk was laid, a pigeon apparently decided to do it's own version of 'bird graffiti' in the concrete!! (heh heh heh)

This must be a real leaf imprinted on textured paper somehow. Maybe it's an example of the Japanese technique where you hammer the heck out of a flower/leaf/whatever onto paper or cloth and an image results (what's it called, anyone?). Stuck to a window.

Murdunna, Tasmania.

Midday on Cullen Beach in Morayshire, Scotland. The sun is always low on the horizon at this time of year so no matter what time of day you head out, you always get wonderful light on the landscape. I loved the way the sunlight caught the patterns in the sand here. Not my usual type of shot but somethings are worth deviating (albeit slightly) for.

I believe as artists/photographers its our responsibility to give things/subjects presence, a sense of mass and or weight. To give something life that normally wouldn't come across in such a way when normally viewed.

Lenses are brushes right? to achieve a certain feel we're after we'll choose a certain lens that matches what we see in our minds to record a certain scene as each lens will paint with its own character.

Distance, light, where our focus point is made to sit, angle, height, aperture... All of it combined would be called composing I think.. I usually call it framing since I'm only moving myself . But.. when we get it right or even partially right it imprints a feeling of absolute presence which will in our hope ...move someone viewing our work..

Another secret spot I haven't posted from before , I went back yesterday with a lens I would rarely leave the house with but lately decided to because it has an undeniable character I really love to work with and when things fall in to place while using it , it's surreal and leaves you with that feeling of bliss you swim in while driving away from a spot you spent good time shooting...

Nikon Nikkor 85mm f1.4 AIS @1.4. No photoshop foolery Only converted.

Thanks for checking out my work guys, I appreciate all of you...

Special moments of the heart leave ever lasting imprints on our souls,,,,,
