"Another glorious Sierra day in which one seems to be dissolved and absorbed and sent pulsing onward we know not where. Life seems neither long nor short, and we take no more heed to save time or make haste than do the trees and stars. This is true freedom, a good practical sort of immortality." — from John of the Mountains (1938)
Here's yet another 10 image panorama taken at sunrise in the Owen Valley. :)

Immortality
by Lindsay Laurie
Mortal are us human kind
seeking peace with baited breath.
Immortality imparts the mind
to believe there is no death.
Immortality is really history …
writings from the then times wealth.
Replayed in a similar mode
as history repeats itself.
Each tiny fraction of the puzzle,
is ancient generations text,
leads the way to consider
what right now is needed next …
Each year reaches new horizons,
the past has been addressed -
and we live our life believing,
our time is the very best.
“Taste the poems in and on tongues you can’t comprehend, the sounds fly skyward after infiltrating your eyes, then you can see your own immortality anointed rising all nonsense you plead, indeed, only immortals truly cherish and envy the human ability to create nonsense”
Rest hope you all enjoy amsy work as always ^^

He kindly stopped for me –

And Immortality."

"Sterile sister though I be,
Twinborn to the barren Sea,
Yet of all things fruitful we
Wait the end; and presently,
Lo, they are not! then to me
(Children to the nurse's knee)
Come the billows fresh and free,
Breathing Immortality."

Colorful Varanasi screams at you, but it is a peaceful place. Crowded Varanasi is a mass of humanity, but a place of individual discovery. Spiritual Varanasi meets material wealth, but prevails. Life, death and immortality converge in your thoughts. You may have come to observe, but you become a pilgrim too.
To ashes, to dust
Taken away from the light
But not just yet
Miracles wait until the end
Ocean of time
Eternal law
To ashes, to dust
To ashes
But not just yet
To ashes, to dust
Taken away from the light
But not just yet
Miracles wait until the end
It is nothing but a dream
The mere chasing of the wind
Who could tell for sure?
The clock on your wall
It is full of sand
Put your hand in mine
And let us be eternal
You make your own choice now
And throw us 'tween bliss and agony
But I can forgive you
You are so close to death
Yet your glance so clear
See me
I am ready
And looking for immortality

The Alamo Cenotaph, statue, in San Antonio is in front of the Alamo.
Although there had been previous plans for Alamo monuments, starting in the late 1800s, the Alamo Cenotaph was the first such erected in San Antonio.
The shaft rises sixty feet from its base and is forty feet long and twelve feet wide. The monument was erected in grey Georgia marble and pink Texas granite. It was entitled The Spirit of Sacrifice and incorporates images of the Alamo garrison leaders and 187 names of known Alamo defenders, derived from the research of historian Amelia Williams.[2] Later research has shown some listed on the cenotaph were not there, and the total of Alamo combatants has risen with newer research.
The marker on the cenotaph reads:
Erected in memory of the heroes who sacrificed their lives at the Alamo, March 6, 1836, in the defense of Texas. They chose never to surrender nor retreat; these brave hearts, with flag still proudly waving, perished in the flames of immortality that their high sacrifice might lead to the founding of this Texas.
The defenders of the Alamo thus included both Anglo and Hispanic Texans who fought side by side under a banner that was the flag of Mexico with the numerals "1824" superimposed. This was meant to indicate that the defenders were fighting for their rights to democratic government under the Mexican constitution of that year. It was only during the siege that the Texas Congress declared an independent Republic of Texas.
An ancient Greek myth tells us this:
At Apollo's temple, Ambrogio fell for the Oracle, Selena, unaware of Apollo's own desires for her. His love sparked Apollo's jealousy, cursing Ambrogio to burn under sunlight's touch.
Distraught, Ambrogio sought aid from Hades and Artemis. Hades obliged, but in return demanded Artemis' silver bow. This theft incensed Artemis, casting a curse of silver upon Ambrogio.
With time, Artemis' wrath softened. She gifted Ambrogio with strength, immortality, and beast-slaying fangs. His sanguinary ink wrote verses of love for Selena. Selena, free from Apollo, returned to her immortal lover, tainted by her mortality.
In a final act, Artemis instructed Ambrogio to drink Selena's blood, granting her an immortal spirit. Their conjoined blood is said to possess the power to transmute any human into a vampire.

Lead thro' the Circle, Virgins, lead me on,
Where, guided by the still-revolving Sun,
The faithful Dial counts the fleeting Hour,
Lead to the Church's venerable Tower:
Which like the life-producing Plant of Old,
That flourish'd once in Eden's blessed Mould,
In the mid-Garden placed, its sacred Head
Uprears, embosom'd in aspiring Shade:
And blest with Vertue, like that wond'rous Tree,
Confers on Mortals Immortality.
"A letter always seemed to me like immortality because it is the mind alone without corporeal friend." Emily Dickinson
When you walk through a Jewish cemetery, you will find lots of symbols, all with different meanings. Most of them are familiar, like stylized flowers, stars (Star of David) and the Menorah (seven-lamp lamp stand). Some depict very special symbols: these include hands (two hands with their thumbs inwards, pointing up) which indicate that the deceased was a Kohen (priest) who watched over the offerings and gave his blessing in that manner, or the Levite pitcher (ewer), which stands for a person descendant of the Levi (Levite), a tribe whose members helped the priests in the temple of Jerusalem, washing their hands before they made an offering. The most striking though, is the palm tree, like the one on this picture. The tree in general is the symbol of life: the tree of life can be found in many religions. However, the palm tree has various meanings, perhaps based on Psalm 92:12-15: “the righteous shall flourish like a palm tree”. It is the symbol of righteousness, life, hence: victory over death, immortality and eternal peace.
Note: a broken tree, tree trunk or other broken plant means that the person died at a very young age.
Please remember:
Politicians and monarchs have the power to make war,
but we, the people, have the power to make peace.
"Because I could not stop for Death,
He kindly stopped for me;
The carriage held but just ourselves
And Immortality"

Some pirates achieved immortality by great deeds of cruelty or derring-do. Some achieved immortality by amassing great wealth. But the captain had long ago decided that he would, on the whole, prefer to achieve immortality by not dying.

Wisteria in full bloom ( my garden )
A climbing vine in the pea family, with delicate hanging clusters of beautiful, pale bluish-lilac flowers that emit a heavenly scent. Native to North America and eastern Asia, ornamental varieties are widely grown on walls and pergolas.
Flora records indicate wisteria has been known to live up to 100 years and even older (there is a 1200 year old wisteria tree in Japan). It's long-life bestows the symbolic meaning of immortality and longevity to the wisteria.

I read the new posts. Do not worry beforehand that I will respond in kind ...
But now there is a stupendous sunset with the immense sun sinking into a red glare
that tears the delicate blue of this sky out of season.
I get emotional.
Erratic the thought floats in this sleepy evening and a vision touches my mind:
this is the same sunset that, stunned, I watched as a child reflected in the glass of my window.
But now the evening has fallen, the light has disappeared along with the old visions.
A sudden cold breeze rises to remind me that we are still in winter, and the darkest thoughts return.
I am moved again imagining how many incredible efforts are being made
in a desperate attempt to avert, in some way, our terrible mortal destiny.
Higher-order motivations are invented, even post-mortem worlds,
and we are also willing to risk having to suffer for eternity in a hypothetical hell
in order to nurture a senseless hope of immortality.
I can only sympathize with these my brothers believers but I do not want to delude myself.
I can't stand the idea of spending my life cultivating a trick. I want to know the truth.
And behold, no longer shielded by the dazzling sunlight,
our two wonderful green moons appear in the sky.
Greetings, Eli

In the days of myth and legend, the beautiful Calypso ruled the seas, second only to Poseidon and all sailors both loved and feared her, even though she too had mortal blood. According to Homer’s Odyssey, Odysseus encountered Calypso, the nymph who lived on the island of Ogygia after a shipwreck. Calypso quickly fell in love with Odysseus, and she compelled him to remain on the island as her lover and captive as a result of her Love for him. She offered him immortality to stay. Odysseus spent a total of seven years on the island as Calypso’s prisoner. She let him go by the command of Zeus and even helped him build his Ship to leave...proving she would do anything for Love..♥..even break her own heart.

Death is not the end
Death can never be the end.
Death is the road.
Life is the traveller.
The Soul is the Guide
...
Our mind thinks of death.
Our heart thinks of life
Our soul thinks of Immortality
Well, immortality twice here on the banks of the Meuse River! First, of course, alluded to by the name of Tansy, Tanacetum vulgare, said to have been derived from the Greek 'athanasia' for immortal. And then, too, Peacock Butterfly; the Peacock in the Christian tradition is a symbol for the immortality of the flesh.
Yet, before long Autumn will have given way to Winter...
But Peacock will likely survive in hibernation, and its flowering Tansy will remain in dried form. Immortals both...
This is for one of the bravest and strongest women I know. You have all my admiration and respect...
Taken on Saturday evening at my house - minutes before my friends arrived.
