sorry for delays in commenting,

we are having some short circuit events over here.

For Maria Godfrida, who is the administrator of the group "Smile on Saturday" and today the theme is: "Blue for You - ME 2021"

More information:

"""""On May 12 it's ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia International Awareness Day.

M.E. Awareness Week was established by patient advocates and is focused on May 12th, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who was believed to have suffered with M.E.

From 1857 Nightingale found herself often disabled by poor health, which some suggest may well have been Chronic Fatigue Syndrome(CFS).

As a result, Nightingale now has been adopted as a kind of patron saint for this under-studied disease.

CFS sufferers commemorate her birthday as a kind of rallying point; their own lamp in the dark.

Maria is a victim of that illness herself, together with many others here at Flickr.

Therefore there is (for the third time already) a theme with 'blue as the main colour' on Saturday May 8.

She called this theme "Blue for You - ME 2021""""

I hope that someday there will be treatment for this illness.

From my house-renovation archive

* Thanks for all your good wishes we still both positive for Covid but we are fine if a trifle bored . Marys symptoms seem to have mostly dissipated I still have symptoms that are akin to having a very heavy cold. We shall continue to rest up and hopefully by next week normal life may be able to resume . I would like to again sincerely thank those scientists and researchers who developed the vaccines , without those new treatments what has been a relatively mild if uncomfortable illness could have been much more serious

The garden has been left to its own devices this week but I did walk down to the bottom lawn on Tuesday to look at the crocus display which always cheers one up . Sadly you cannot see the display from the house the downside of having such a long garden . I planted about 30 crocus about 20 years ago they have spread but you cannot cut the grass till july so later on it becomes a bit untidy

THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT TO MY STREAM.

I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD NOT FAVE A PHOTO

WITHOUT ALSO LEAVING A COMMENT .

This is another photograph from my series of the hidden beauties. It is an aromatic herb what can be used for the therapy of illnesses, like for instance stomach problems and head aches as well. So ? Did anyone recognise is already ?

In the kitchen I know it as an ingredient of some fish souces and cucumber salad and I am not a big fan of it.

In photographical terms it’s doing a great job too, especially when You go really close (photo is coming soon).

Because You are all smart and close to nature You did for sure find out already, that this is dill.

for ME/CFS - FIbromyalgia International Awareness Day

celebrated on the birthday, May 12th, of Florence Nightingale who is thought to have been a sufferer.

In my archive photo I am on the banks of Loch Lomond in Scotland with the brilliant blue sky reflected in the calm waters.

My dedication today for this photo is to my niece, Sue, who has ME, with the hope she may find some respite from this illness.

Thank you for your visit to my photostream. I wish you a happy weekend.

For Maria! Thank you for spreading awareness of your illness and for being brave!! You are amazing....<3!!!!!!

……Even ‘Blue’ ones! Ahead of Friday May 12th which is ‘ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia International Awareness Day’ Smile on Saturday’s theme today is all about ‘Blue’ and when I read the brief "BLUE FOR YOU - ME 2023” I decided on this picture. So for ALL affected direct or indirectly as a result of ANY illness I hope todays pictures will bring a Smile however brief. This is another Anemone I spotted at Attingham Park (N/Trust) only I’ve added a bit more Indigo blue to the background especially for you. HS😊S, Alan:-)…….

‘FAVES’ PROBLEMS?!? Does anyone else have a problem with ‘Faves’ not staying latched in? I regularly spot some when I look back again at an image and have to re-Fave again! Most annoying - apologies if you see a comment & no fave given from me.

Things are as ever slowly changing..

My illness that is now being treated with double beta blockers is not yet responding well and some of my ordinary PVCs have changed to interpolated PVCs which can eventually lead to Cardiomyopathy with severe and chronic anxiety being the root cause.

I don’t have control over my anxiety and Flickr is just one thing I can leave off at least. I have had some lovely mails asking me to just take a break then come back and believe me they are so heartwarming and mean more than you will ever know.

The place I am at now is to still leave my account open as it is paid up until April 2024. Comments for new photos are turned off and shall remain off as I am too unwell to leave comments as they take me ages to formulate and I get so tired and stressed.

I intend flooding my Flickr account with photos from my two previous Flickr accounts as I get a better idea of whether I myself consider them worthy of uploading to my new online account with a couple of online accounts instead of mixed with thousands of other photos on my PC

I shall hopefully start to fave but not be commenting on photos on Flickr as I not well enough to at the moment but I haven’t given up on getting better although I am unsure how…

I wish everyone well and am still browsing all your wonderful inspirational photography !

We just returned from a couple of days in the pretty town of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. (Unfortunately this was supposed to be combined with a few days visiting family near Chicago, but illness in their family forced us to cancel that part of the trip. 😒)

It may be a little early, but I would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season and a happy Christmas-time. Enjoy it with friends and family!

I made a little card with two origami Santa Claus models from the same designer.

I will be away for the rest of this year, due to illness in my family, which requires my attention.

Many, many thanks for your friendship, the kind comments and wonderful support throughout the year. I appreciated it a lot !!

Once again wishing you all a Happy Holidays and/or a great Xmas and very best wishes for 2026.

Hi everyone, I am hoping I have some good information for you this week in regards to my illness, this one was pretty bad and really knocked me out of the game, but feel that I may be coming back a little, and have 4-Doctors visits this week all Doctors pertaining to what I had and will ask them all if I can return slowly to normal activity.

The one thing I will never do is forget any of you, and will forever in your debt, and will never ever forget any of you, ever.

We need to try and always be there for our loved ones and even those we don't know during illness. If a patient is surrounded by positive support and laughter it makes the world of difference. I can tell you that from experience. Happy weekend my Flickr friends!

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo💜💜

Because of my sudden illness, everything was delayed a bit. But since I'm on the mend again, I can finally show you my vampire-inspired style that I worked on before the illness. I picked out some make-up designers to create my very own look.

I am greatful for all the patience my sponsor give to us bloggers in this time and hope all of them and all of you will be safe!

This tender fragile leaf stays as an synonym for Fragility. Not just in nature we often see something or someone that becomes very fragile to us!

Fragile refers to something or someone that is fragile and delicate. Fragile comes from the Latin fragilis, fragile. A glass can be very fragile, that is, very thin, easily broken. The psyche and constitution can also be very fragile, someone recovering after a grief, a disappointment, a mental crisis or a mental illness will be quite fragile for a while. For this reason, we should be considerate of people who are fragile, delicate and tender, because these qualities make a person a compassionate, humane and valuable fellow human being.

Thank you for visits, comments and favs!

Cat's Whiskers in the KLCC Park serve as border plants and given their year 'round presence some of the walks are always bordered by pretty white flowers. So you could be forgiven for thinking they're merely ornamentals. But Orthosiphon also has excellent medicinal qualities especially for illnesses of the urinary tract. That's for what they've traditionally been used in this part of the world.

It's difficult to get a good photo of these clusters, so I thought I'd give you a shot from the top down.

Despite her illness, Daisy still likes to play. Camera ready, I put the frog down. Daisy wanted the frog, but not a photo - so she picked up the toy & ran to another room before I could get a single photo. After more failed attempts, I gave up. I put the camera away, fetched biscuits & hid them under the frog & got this quick snap with my phone while she was still hoping for more bribes. She has trained me very well!

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

A novel malady afflicted lunar space workers in the late 21st century called Lunar Rigor, a mental illness whose symptoms ranged from chronic insomnia to clinical depression. Sufferers all disclosed feeling an acute discomfort and aversion to the starkness of the lunar environment (or rather lack thereof). It's extremes of night and day, blinding light and deep, unearthly shadows.

The utter stillness.

Astronauts could be trained to endure physical discomfort but mental adaptation was problematic. Evolution hadn't prepared the human brain to live within a desolate void. Patients trialled listening to birdsongs and other nature recordings whilst on EVA but this was found to have a nocent effect.

A few weeks ago my father almost died due to a sudden illness and he was being treated in a hospital for several days. We were beside him all that time, and hoped for the best. Gladly he survived.

I took this photo on my way home.

Dear Flickr friends,

This will be my last posting for a few days, until I am able to get out and about again but I will dip in and out to look at your wonderful work. I have a boat trip booked to see some seals on Sunday, so I really hope I will be able to do this... My mind is willing …

My picture was taken just under 3 years ago, while I was recuperating from illness and it is a gentle reminder to me of what I am able to achieve. I climbed high to see this view.

Dear Chi, 悲しむことはありません. それは希望のメッセージです. 友よありがとう : 0)

A MESSAGE OF HOPE

As darkness falls, then so do I

body broken, tears run dry

As daylight comes, the pressure rose

It craves expression, 'fore my eyes close

A little bird with broken wing

tapped my window, began to sing

She gave me HOPE and brought me love

a poem so sweet. from Heaven above

She cannot fly with broken wing

but to me she brings the gift of Spring

When hollowed out and in despair

pray for your angel. She's always there

She walks beside me, takes my hand

The sun shines down and warms the sand.

From the sea I came and will return

but I leave behind, HOPE, love, friendship

'til I return …

Is this a 20th Century moment or a 21st Century moment? It's hard to tell, but in fact it's the latter. There are many small rural communities that now remind me of scenes I witnessed during my time spent in Cuba. Many of these small rural communities in America are currently ravaged by poverty and drug addiction with no identifiable path out of the situation. We are a better people than this, and our elected officials of both parties in Washington would be better advised to cease the divisive rhetoric and general political posturing and dig into real and lasting solutions for homelessness, drug addiction, immigration, poverty, mental illness, suicide, and the proliferation of false news that is destroying America.

He fought quietly, and we fought with him.

His body was smaller and more fragile than it should have been, his past and true age unknown.

Hidden illness, surgery, and complications followed—things no one could see at first.

We did everything we could, but his little body couldn’t go on.

He passed away peacefully, loved and held.

He came fragile, with battles already inside him.

From the first day on, his life was care, patience, and hope.

What he asked for was simple—to be loved, and not be alone.

I gave him everything I had.

And I felt his gratitude in every quiet moment.

This photo is to bring awareness to Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), sometimes referred to as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) or chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). ME/CFS is a debilitating disease that lacks a universally accepted case definition, cause, diagnosis, or treatment. According to the CDC, more than one million USA citizens have CFS. At least one-quarter of individuals with ME/CFS are bedbound or housebound at some point in the illness and most never regain their pre-disease level of functioning. ME/CFS strikes people of all ages and racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups, and is diagnosed two to four times more often in women.

I KNOW YOU CARE – ELLIE GOULDING

It's been a funny few days

and even funnier nights

chasing storm clouds from my mind

falling; laughing; pillow fights

I tumble to the rumble of the thunder

let lightning strike me in the same place twice

dancing in the torrential rain

smiling up at you; feels so nice

kick off my heels; barefoot and free

stumbling; clumsy; straight into your arms

you steady me; you're my anchor in a storm

you're the rock that roots me

safe and steady; snuggle up; warm

toasting marshmallows

in the old ramshackle barn

where we used to play and shelter

way back then it was our port in the storm

now you came and found me

placed your hand in mine

smiled at me with your goofy grin

so nice to know we didn't run out of time

don't run out on me again

not now; not even in my dreams

'cos you rooted me to the earth again

now nothing is as bad as it seemed

we were meant for each other

no bout a-doubt it I mis-say

remember the short-hand we talked

oh, you know, back in the day

now it's my turn to smile

look down shyly at my feet

turned inwards as always

I look up and we let our eyes meet

sparkling and twinkling;

grinning until our faces ache

were we ever this happy before

I am ready to chance it; so willing to take

the wind is still blowing

wait until the dust sets

or run with me now

and cancel all bets

I see you nodding

no words need be said

you've got my heart in your hand

I've got our tune stuck in my head.

Inspired by advocacy, empowerment and acceptance, this piece explores the dimensionality of mental illness and the role we as a society play in creating awareness.

Reflection that a person suffering from Alzheimer's may face many misconceptions and stereotypes, the intention of this piece is to capture the unique essence of an individual despite these assumptions and reinforce that they are more than just a series of labels or medical terms. (Artist's notes.)

Suicide is not selfish. Suicide is, normally, death caused by the illness of depression. It is the final symptom. A final collapse under unbearable Weight. Suicide is a tragedy . If you have never been close to that edge try not to judge What you can't understand.

With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

First of all to all my friends, its good to sit here FINALLY. On 3/17 i met my new doctor. On 3/18 i was rushed to the ER i have no recollection other than what i have been told. Took several days to stabilize me to do the surgeries required. Pancreatitis and Gall Bladder. I was in the Trauma Unit for just over 2 weeks and now home but can't sit at pc. My apologies for missing your beautiful and inspiring works. I am still recovering and still experience pain. If you would keep me in your thoughts and prayers I would be most grateful. My love to you all <3

RHS Hyde Hall, Rettendon, Essex

Over many years I have posted images taken at RHS Hyde Hall and this is a continuation of a series called ‘A Day in the Life’. As the title suggests I’m posting what I think are the best photographs taken on that particular day.

This is the second day I have been able to stay out for any length of time since my illness which occurred last May. The weather was perfect, all good. Took a few pictures.

Due to a long illness this is my first landscape shot in more than one and a half years. Last week I went out on adventure! It was so exciting, the bus for disabled people took me to Kinderdijk with my mobility scooter, camera, tripod and all and dropped me off Café de Klok close to the windmills. It was freezing cold outside with temperatures of 6 degrees below zero. Unfortunely the "Golden hour" was over before I knew it, so I had very little time to scout for the best compositions. The "blue hour" lasted longer, but once the sun was down the temperature dropped another 6 degrees (or so it felt to me charging up and down between the windmills on my scootmobile!) What a wonderful feeling of freedom I felt! More shots to follow

I turn to sitting here, looking over Oltrano and Florence... Brunelleschi's Dome is on the left and Santa Croce on the right...

Florence is a must-see city for any art lover, but its delights reach far beyond the museums and galleries. According to some, the city itself is a piece of art. Have you heard of Stendhal syndrome, that supposed illness that causes sufferers to grow faint at the sight of great beauty? It also goes by the name “Florence syndrome,” as it was first coined after 19th century visitors to Florence were overcome.

[from www.italylogue.com/florence/ ]

It is a gift to simply be able to move about freely, enjoying the blessings of good health, family, and friends. I think about this when I'm out on the streets enjoying life.

Yet I am concerned about the way Americans are now treating one another. Social media posts often reveal the hearts of those doing the typing. I have acquaintances who use the term "illegals" with such vitriol -- to the point of ignoring the humanity of those people. I agree our immigration policies and enforcement has been poor -- but what I don't agree with is the way the current President has repeatedly painted a picture of all immigrants as murderers, terrorists, and rapists. That is not true, but it has fed a lie to those with a proclivity for hate and racism.

Why has this false claim influenced so many Americans? In many instances, it is because there are so many Americans with essentially no moral code at all. There are, on the other hand, millions of so-called "religious people" in America who do nothing but play "church". They religiously attend church services, repeat the creeds, and mouth the words, but their hearts are revealed in how they think and treat others, particularly immigrants and those with skin that isn't white. In the Word, God does not call the weak, the powerless, the foreigners, those attempting to escape genocide or dangerous living conditions "murderers, terrorists, and rapists". Our current government leaders are the ones using those terms.

Choose today who you really follow. You may be fitting in with your peers and your political party, but God cannot be mocked or fooled. If you are more influenced by your peers and political party than you are by the living God, that is not a safe place to be.

Ask instead that our leaders develop a humanitarian and functional approach to policies regarding immigration, crime, mental illness, gun control, health and wellness, education, the economy, and other pressing issues, that reflects the dignity of all of humanity. A policy that reflects what God has asked us to be as people.

"The contemplative journey, because it involves the purification of the unconscious, is not a magic carpet to bliss. It is an exercise of letting go of the false self, a humbling process, because it is the only self we know. God approaches us from many different perspectives: illness, misfortune, bankruptcy, divorce proceedings, rejection, inner trials. God has not promised to take away our trial, but to help us to change our attitudes toward them. That is what holiness really is. In this life, happiness is rooted in our basic attitude toward reality."

- Thomas Keating, The Human Condition: Contemplation and Transformation

St Gwenfaen was known for healing mental illness. While being chased by druids, Gwenfaen is said to have climbed a nearby rock stack and was carried away by angels when the tide came in.

City inside out

To someone without a home living on street, the bustling city becomes one united exterior.

" City inside out " explores a world that lacks interiors.

Small coins fall into beggar's hats, large insults to their faces.

Joggers, dog walkers, groups of boisterous friends, clean people in new clothes, romantic couples, cell phone conversations, shiny traffics, wash their daily tides of health and prosperity past the homeless.

Late each night, other crowds emerge, dangerous as the sharp knife and gun, prickly as lice and poisonous' insect infested clothing, blurry as sight without glasses, ringing ears with imaginary voice, and resignation to untreated illness.

The survival test is administered without consideration for those who will see the next day.
