Poeple living with a chronic illness often refer to ourselves as spoonies. Always good to have some extras and they may as well be fancy :)

I would also like to take this time to thank all of you for your support. I may not always leave a comment and even when I do it's almost never very elaborate but please know it's the best I can do on that day. I think you are all brilliant and a constant source of amazement, inspiration and joy.
Stay safe!
Due to his illness Tofu has lost quite a lot of weight although you don't see it under all this fluff. He eats well again now and will hopefully be back to form soon. And he watches birds again which is something he didn't do when he felt poorly. For now he is not allowed to go out yet but I have started to put dried mealworms out on the terrace for the birds and Tofu sits at the window and enjoys the entertainment.
For Tongue Tuesday I add another capture of the birdwatcher in the comments.
For Maria! Thank you for spreading awareness of your illness and for being brave!! You are amazing....<3!!!!!!
……Even ‘Blue’ ones! Ahead of Friday May 12th which is ‘ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia International Awareness Day’ Smile on Saturday’s theme today is all about ‘Blue’ and when I read the brief "BLUE FOR YOU - ME 2023” I decided on this picture. So for ALL affected direct or indirectly as a result of ANY illness I hope todays pictures will bring a Smile however brief. This is another Anemone I spotted at Attingham Park (N/Trust) only I’ve added a bit more Indigo blue to the background especially for you. HS😊S, Alan:-)…….
‘FAVES’ PROBLEMS?!? Does anyone else have a problem with ‘Faves’ not staying latched in? I regularly spot some when I look back again at an image and have to re-Fave again! Most annoying - apologies if you see a comment & no fave given from me.
For the interested I’m growing my Shutterstock catalogue regularly here, now sold 149 images :- www.shutterstock.com/g/Alan+Foster?rid=223484589&utm_...

The Church of England parish church of Saint Edith is dedicated to the Wiltshire saint Edith of Wilton and stands on the brow of a slope facing south across the Nadder valley. The building is from the 14th and 15th centuries, with restoration in 1880–1893 by William Butterfield. The building is Grade II* listed. The tower has a ring of three bells, two of which date from the 15th century.Today the church is part of the Nadder Valley team ministry.
The churchyard contains, among others, the graves of 32 Australian soldiers from World War I. Soldiers were encamped locally before being transported to the war theatre in France. The majority died from infectious illness.
Things are as ever slowly changing..
My illness that is now being treated with double beta blockers is not yet responding well and some of my ordinary PVCs have changed to interpolated PVCs which can eventually lead to Cardiomyopathy with severe and chronic anxiety being the root cause.
I don’t have control over my anxiety and Flickr is just one thing I can leave off at least. I have had some lovely mails asking me to just take a break then come back and believe me they are so heartwarming and mean more than you will ever know.
The place I am at now is to still leave my account open as it is paid up until April 2024. Comments for new photos are turned off and shall remain off as I am too unwell to leave comments as they take me ages to formulate and I get so tired and stressed.
I intend flooding my Flickr account with photos from my two previous Flickr accounts as I get a better idea of whether I myself consider them worthy of uploading to my new online account with a couple of online accounts instead of mixed with thousands of other photos on my PC

I shall hopefully start to fave but not be commenting on photos on Flickr as I not well enough to at the moment but I haven’t given up on getting better although I am unsure how…
I wish everyone well and am still browsing all your wonderful inspirational photography !

Reclining Buddhas are commonplace in Thailand and also here in Laos.
A reclining Buddha is an image that represents Buddha lying down and is a major iconographic theme in Buddhist art. It represents the historical Buddha during his last illness, about to enter the parinirvana. He is lying on his right side, his head resting on a cushion or relying on his right elbow, supporting his head with his hand.
This pattern seems to have emerged at the same time as other representations of the Buddha in the Greco-Buddhist art of Gandhara.
Because of my sudden illness, everything was delayed a bit. But since I'm on the mend again, I can finally show you my vampire-inspired style that I worked on before the illness. I picked out some make-up designers to create my very own look.
I am greatful for all the patience my sponsor give to us bloggers in this time and hope all of them and all of you will be safe!

Cat's Whiskers in the KLCC Park serve as border plants and given their year 'round presence some of the walks are always bordered by pretty white flowers. So you could be forgiven for thinking they're merely ornamentals. But Orthosiphon also has excellent medicinal qualities especially for illnesses of the urinary tract. That's for what they've traditionally been used in this part of the world.
It's difficult to get a good photo of these clusters, so I thought I'd give you a shot from the top down.
Sorry I have not visited this site recently. It is due to illness. Hopefully we can move forwards soon
After 6 days of illness, I'm finally back on my feet...hence the reason why I have been absent here on Flickr.
Tomorrow I am returning to work for the first time since last Friday. I feel ALIVE again and wanted to celebrate by posting this beautiful rose picture given to me by a friend. I received a bouquet of roses for helping her become my colleague.
I will soon get back to comments and liking all your beautiful pictures.
Have a beautiful Wednesday

Despite her illness, Daisy still likes to play. Camera ready, I put the frog down. Daisy wanted the frog, but not a photo - so she picked up the toy & ran to another room before I could get a single photo. After more failed attempts, I gave up. I put the camera away, fetched biscuits & hid them under the frog & got this quick snap with my phone while she was still hoping for more bribes. She has trained me very well!

Is this a 20th Century moment or a 21st Century moment? It's hard to tell, but in fact it's the latter. There are many small rural communities that now remind me of scenes I witnessed during my time spent in Cuba. Many of these small rural communities in America are currently ravaged by poverty and drug addiction with no identifiable path out of the situation. We are a better people than this, and our elected officials of both parties in Washington would be better advised to cease the divisive rhetoric and general political posturing and dig into real and lasting solutions for homelessness, drug addiction, immigration, poverty, mental illness, suicide, and the proliferation of false news that is destroying America.

I KNOW YOU CARE – ELLIE GOULDING
It's been a funny few days
and even funnier nights
chasing storm clouds from my mind
falling; laughing; pillow fights
I tumble to the rumble of the thunder
let lightning strike me in the same place twice
dancing in the torrential rain
smiling up at you; feels so nice
kick off my heels; barefoot and free
stumbling; clumsy; straight into your arms
you steady me; you're my anchor in a storm
you're the rock that roots me
safe and steady; snuggle up; warm
toasting marshmallows
in the old ramshackle barn
where we used to play and shelter
way back then it was our port in the storm
now you came and found me
placed your hand in mine
smiled at me with your goofy grin
so nice to know we didn't run out of time
don't run out on me again
not now; not even in my dreams
'cos you rooted me to the earth again
now nothing is as bad as it seemed
we were meant for each other
no bout a-doubt it I mis-say
remember the short-hand we talked
oh, you know, back in the day
now it's my turn to smile
look down shyly at my feet
turned inwards as always
I look up and we let our eyes meet
sparkling and twinkling;
grinning until our faces ache
were we ever this happy before
I am ready to chance it; so willing to take
the wind is still blowing
wait until the dust sets
or run with me now
and cancel all bets
I see you nodding
no words need be said
you've got my heart in your hand
I've got our tune stuck in my head.

This photo is to bring awareness to Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), sometimes referred to as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) or chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). ME/CFS is a debilitating disease that lacks a universally accepted case definition, cause, diagnosis, or treatment. According to the CDC, more than one million USA citizens have CFS. At least one-quarter of individuals with ME/CFS are bedbound or housebound at some point in the illness and most never regain their pre-disease level of functioning. ME/CFS strikes people of all ages and racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups, and is diagnosed two to four times more often in women.

Happy Mother's Day.
This special day is celebrated in the Netherlands today, May 12.
I folded this brooch a long time ago for my (recently deceased) mother-in-law as a birthday present. She has worn it many times, but not in recent years, because of her illness, which caused her to lie in bed a lot.
We came across this again while cleaning up her belongings. I don't remember who designed this origami model, only that I folded it out of one piece of paper.
I've emphasized the background color a bit more, because it's also Sliders Sunday ;-))
HHS and enjoy your Sunday !!

Inspired by advocacy, empowerment and acceptance, this piece explores the dimensionality of mental illness and the role we as a society play in creating awareness.
Reflection that a person suffering from Alzheimer's may face many misconceptions and stereotypes, the intention of this piece is to capture the unique essence of an individual despite these assumptions and reinforce that they are more than just a series of labels or medical terms. (Artist's notes.)
May 12 is ME/CFS/Fibromyalgia International Awareness Day, a day to bring attention to how ME/CFS/Fibromyalgia affects those suffering from the illness.
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) is a serious, long-term illness that affects many body systems. Often, people with ME/CFS may not be able to do their usual activities. People with ME/CFS have severe fatigue and sleep problems. ME/CFS may get worse after people with the illness try to do as much as they want or need to do. This symptom is known as post-exertional malaise (PEM). Other symptoms can include problems with thinking and concentrating, pain, and dizziness.
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a medical condition characterised by chronic widespread pain and a heightened pain response to pressure. Other symptoms include tiredness to a degree that normal activities are affected, sleep problems and troubles with memory. Some people also report restless legs syndrome, bowel or bladder problems, numbness and tingling and sensitivity to noise, lights or temperature. Fibromyalgia is frequently associated with depression, anxiety and posttraumatic stress disorder. Other types of chronic pain are also frequently present.

Belenus, ('The Shining One'), Celtic god associated with the sun and healing, one of the most ancient and most widely worshipped god of the pagan Celtic deities. Belenus had sacred fires dedicated to him, the ancient May fire festival celebrating the peak of spring and the fertility of the earth called Beltane.
At the eve of Beltane, sacred fires, bonfires (or balefires) were lit on hilltops and farm animals were driven between the fires to remove any impurities and guard them from illness until the following year, while people leapt over the fires for purification and to ward off spirits.

You past away almost 3 years ago but my memories still are here. And a person is just gone if we do not think about him anymore. Today, the 14th of November is your Birthday and i keep our lifetime moments in my heart! You loved mother nature so much and so i try to express my feelings once more through my lens. We both know this place very well.
I wanted to be with you today and visit you at your grave. But ironically, the same illness that took your life 3 years ago has now caught me. And while I'm tied to my bed, my thoughts are with you!

Tracks in the sand
One night I had a dream:
I was walking along the sea with my master.
Against the dark night sky
shone, like streaks of light,
images from my life.
And each time I saw two footprints in the sand,
my own and my master's.
When the last image passed my eyes
I looked back.
I was startled to discover
that in many places of my life's journey
there was only a trace to be seen.
And those were the hardest times of my life.
times of my life.
Concerned, I asked the Lord:
"Lord, when I began to follow you,
you promised me
to be with me in all my ways.
But now I discover
that in the hardest times of my life
there is only a trace in the sand.
Why did you leave me alone
when I needed you most?"
Then he answered, "My dear child,
I love you and will never leave you alone,
especially in times of need and difficulty.
There, where you have seen only a trace
you have seen,
I have carried you."
Thank you for visits, comments and favs!

First of all to all my friends, its good to sit here FINALLY. On 3/17 i met my new doctor. On 3/18 i was rushed to the ER i have no recollection other than what i have been told. Took several days to stabilize me to do the surgeries required. Pancreatitis and Gall Bladder. I was in the Trauma Unit for just over 2 weeks and now home but can't sit at pc. My apologies for missing your beautiful and inspiring works. I am still recovering and still experience pain. If you would keep me in your thoughts and prayers I would be most grateful. My love to you all <3
Due to a long illness this is my first landscape shot in more than one and a half years. Last week I went out on adventure! It was so exciting, the bus for disabled people took me to Kinderdijk with my mobility scooter, camera, tripod and all and dropped me off Café de Klok close to the windmills. It was freezing cold outside with temperatures of 6 degrees below zero. Unfortunely the "Golden hour" was over before I knew it, so I had very little time to scout for the best compositions. The "blue hour" lasted longer, but once the sun was down the temperature dropped another 6 degrees (or so it felt to me charging up and down between the windmills on my scootmobile!) What a wonderful feeling of freedom I felt! More shots to follow

"Remélés" is an old tradition in a small Hungarian village. People celebrate the end of winter and welcome spring. They decorate their faces with soot which they wash off with morning dew, washing away illnesses and problems.

Egyptian slaves were given a daily ration of garlic, as it was believed to ward off illness and to increase strength and endurance.
As indicated in ancient Egyptian records, the pyramid builders were given beer, flatbread, raw garlic and onions as their meagre food ration.
Upon threatening to abandon the pyramids leaving them unfinished, they were given more garlic.
It cost the Pharaoh today's equivalent of 2 million dollars to keep the Cheops pyramid builders supplied with garlic.
Although it may seem a new concept, garlic was in fact introduced to Britain by the Romans and has been a cook’s staple for millennia.
The bulbous vegetable was praised in ancient Sanskrit writings, the Egyptians buried it with their dead and by 1500BC it had spread across the world – it even turned up in the medieval court of Richard II.
But by the 19th century, Mrs Beeton was describing it as ‘offensive’ and for most of the 20th century you barely caught a whiff of it in the domestic kitchen.
Cheap flights and package holidays changed our perceptions, and Britain soon rediscovered garlic’s 'pungent' charms, using it in everything from curries to casseroles, stir-fries and soups.
Coupled with a renewed thirst for traceable, local produce, British-grown garlic is set to become a great household favourite.
I wish you all the very best and thanks for all your kind words, time, comments and faves.
Very much appreciated. M, (*_*)

This is an old photograph rescued from our album. Michin was our first adopted cat, picked up some Christmas ago when he was looking for food in the rubbish of our neighborhood. He was so adorable, loving and grateful that although it has been several years since an illness sent him to the "Paradise of the Cats" we still remember him with gratitude and nostalgia for the happy moments that he gave us, like this moment in which we shared with him the first summer time on the beach .
For your knowledge, I decided to make my life more challenging and interesting so looked up "What does yellow represent" in Google and this was their response: "The Color Yellow. Yellow, the lightest hue of the spectrum, signifies joy, happiness, betrayal, optimism, caution, idealism, imagination, hope, sunshine, summer, gold, philosophy, dishonesty, cowardice, jealousy, covetousness, deceit, illness, hazard and friendship". So I decided to try my hand at
illness, and found it a pretty big challenge, I hope you like what I have done.
With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️
"The contemplative journey, because it involves the purification of the unconscious, is not a magic carpet to bliss. It is an exercise of letting go of the false self, a humbling process, because it is the only self we know. God approaches us from many different perspectives: illness, misfortune, bankruptcy, divorce proceedings, rejection, inner trials. God has not promised to take away our trial, but to help us to change our attitudes toward them. That is what holiness really is. In this life, happiness is rooted in our basic attitude toward reality."
- Thomas Keating, The Human Condition: Contemplation and Transformation
A life on the street is fraught with many dangers.
You're homeless if you have nowhere to stay, but you're also considered homeless if it's not reasonable for you to remain in your accommodation. That might mean:
you're staying with friends or family on a temporary basis
your home is in a very poor condition
your home is no longer suitable for you because of a disability or illness.
Homelessness is often caused by a tenancy ending, a relationship breaking down, or friends or family asking you to leave. In all cases, it's best to seek advice as soon as you can.
This Pandemic has just made things worse.

Britannica. UNICEF was created in 1946 to provide relief to children in countries devastated by World War II. After 1950 the fund directed its efforts toward general programs for the improvement of children’s welfare, particularly in less-developed countries and in various emergency situations. The organization’s broader mission was reflected in the name it adopted in 1953, the United Nations Children’s Fund. UNICEF was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1965. It is headquartered in New York City.

UNICEF has concentrated much of its effort in areas in which relatively small expenditures can have a significant impact on the lives of the most disadvantaged children, such as the prevention and treatment of disease. In keeping with this strategy, UNICEF supports immunization programs for childhood diseases and programs to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS; it also provides funding for health services, educational facilities, and other welfare services. Since 1996 UNICEF programs have been guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989), which affirms the right of all children to “the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health and to facilities for the treatment of illness and rehabilitation of health.” UNICEF’s activities are financed by both government and private contributions.

DISTINCTIVE and well-marked lark, but as it feeds unobtrusively it can be difficult to locate when it is foraging among salt-line plants. Resident from Nov-March, red listed bird, found mainly on the East coast of Kent and East Anglia. Hope we get some for me to be able to look at. Taken in very poor light.
