A woman walked down to the shore of the green space with her dog, off leash. The dog proceeded to run out after this egret, causing it to relocate. She tried calling it back, but it would have nothing to do with her. She needs to use that leash, as required by law!!! First comment is moments before, as the dog charges...

Most of my red kite pics are taken mid stoop. This pic therefore breaks the usual mould.
I really liked the way the bird was clearly looking directly at me no doubt weighing me up. Interestingly though the birds are used to being fed they remain sensibly wary of humans.
Red kites in Yorkshire are a fantastic advert for conservation, but sadly there are those in the darker elements of society, who even in this century, believe it is ok to illegally kill these beautiful birds.

The yellow-bellied seedeater (Sporophila nigricollis) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae, formerly placed with the American sparrows in the Emberizidae.
The tiny adult male measure from 8.5 to 10.5 cm (3.0 to 4.1 in)
The yellow-bellied seedeater is found in Central and South America from Costa Rica to Bolivia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, pastureland, and heavily degraded former forest.
One study in Brazil, estimated that 16,800 yellow-bellied seedeaters are illegal caught and sold as pets annually.

La E402-123 passa sul primo binario della stazione di Ascea a causa dei lavori ad una galleria tra Ascea e Pisciotta-Palinuro. Interessante per due fattori. Il primo è che si riesce a fotografare questo treno in luce perfetta e il secondo per via delle lunghe attese al segnale di protezione di Ascea per effettuare l'incrocio con i treni provenienti da Sud.
