A winter morning in South Iceland as brittle and cold as crystal but also just as beautiful.

Ice Planet rover that I started the last day of February, finished in the following weeks then didn’t get around to photographing till now. Had an idea for the wheels and then found the canopy combo, it all grew from there.

Deep snow research vehicle

Icy Terrain Explorer, class Y

Explore the frozen world of Ice Planet 2024! Researchers have returned to the frozen tundra after a more than 30 years. What will they find? Is there alien life on this sub-zero planet? Climb into one of the vehicles, launch the satellites, send reports back to earth via the rotating satellite and recover in the temporary base they set up.

This large layout was created for LEGO World 2024 in collaboration with BrickRebel @brickrebel.

Ice Planet 2002 Ice Trak I

I is for Ice

On planet Kristo oh so cold,

Its frosty glacial beauty

Is quite a sight to behold!

The Ice Planet research team,

A brave (or crazy) bunch

Freezing here for dozens of years

But at least they get ice cream for lunch!

The 6895 Space Police Spy Trak I was probably my favorite set as a kid. I had several copies and could build it from memory. That set is probably why I like building rovers so much! The core of this rover is pure 6895 with some cool brick-built wheels and plenty of Frosty updates. I hope you like it.

Greetings, fellow FebRoverers!

I couldn't possibly miss this wonderful annual event, so I've created this little Ice Planet themed rover to share with you!

Fun fact: the black-capped Kingfisher (Halcyon pileata) inspired me to build this rover. If you google this bird up, you'll notice the resemblance to the colour scheme of the Ice Planet 2002 LEGO sets!

(Front View)

Designed primarily for night missions, the NIR is equipped with some state of the art illumination technology. The only downside is that it has quite a limited range as the glow lasts a little shorter than one might like for exploration missions...

Had some fun with glow in the dark 1x2 plates for this one :) Hopefully I'll be able to bring this to Skaerbaek this fall, should be pretty cool during dark hour...

The Ballad of Kepler Van Allen Part 14

Kepler Van Allen finally arrives at the first coordinates programmed into the nav computer of his recently modified intergalactic rover. A rover and its crew await him as he touches down on the frigid, snow covered surface.

"Welcome to the lesser known 2003rd planet of the Krysto system. We have been expecting you, Mr. Van Allen. We have something for you. Or rather, for you to deliver to Honest John. He needs these power conduits for an important project. Here on Krysto-2003 we have learned humility in the face of the power of nature. We have come to depend on others for our very survival. While these power conduits are important to the work we are doing, we know that Honest John would not ask for them if it were not necessary. Please take with you this gift of humility as you continue to your next destination."

Kepler loads the conduits with the help of the spacemen, and as he lifts off and waves goodbye, he mutters to himself...

I'm Kepler

Kepler Van Allen

Adventure's my middle name!

I'm a lone wolf,

a drifter,

a man's man!

I'm off to explore the Galaxy with only my wits and my trusty rover. I'm independent and self-sufficient. I don't need anybody or anything...

...right?

to be continued...

Greetings to everyone!

This is my 2nd and last Ice Planet themed vehicle for Febrovery 2022. I'll post some more pictures soon. Hope you like it!

Having the biggest saw in the Ice Planet world, Ice Shredder can easily deal with the most deep frozen barriers that will appear on its way.

We break-in from your regularly scheduled "Nova Team" photo with something VERY exciting and a VERY long time coming. I've had the absolute thrill, honor and pleasure to work with some LEGO Space community "Titans" from across the pond in the form of Tim Goddard, Peter Reid, Alec Hole and Chris Salt on a really fun and exciting project called I.C.E. Titan. It’s an official prequel story for the I.C.E Team made popular in Tim and Pete's wonderful book called "LEGO Space: Building the Future" If you haven't read it, it’s a must! What's even better? The Brothers Brick has been kind enough to exclusively feature and host our story complete with behind the scenes interviews and a PDF you can download and read. Check it now only at: The Brothers Brick. I hope you guys enjoy reading it as much as we had making it!

Next loved childhood theme for the contest at RogueBricks.de. Ice Planet 2002 was my absolutely favorite as a child. I had all stets and played endless hours with it. For now, I made a remake of set 6834 celestial sled. Due to the fact that the original is very spartan, so I tried to make a bit more of it. But also, I wanted to stay close to the original. So, I also kept that play feature. I hope you like it.

The newest Ice-Sat model has just been rolled out. The Ice-Sat B rolls effortlessly around in this frozen landscape. It is fully equipped for satellite launching and transportation.

20th build in my Iron Builder round against Chris Maddison, using the Tile, modified 2x3 Pentagonal

PS: the original idea behind the ice penguins comes from Chris Perron, who btw is the super master of Ice planet rovers.

Mechtober Week 2! Right on time...

If you can't navigate the tough terrain in a blizzard, the Tricone Tunneler can drill straight through!

I recently looked through a big box of ccbs pieces, searching for inspiration. Here’s What i got from a trans neon orange part

Inspired by a Christoph Monnaie spaceship

Can't believe I actually managed to build this in time for Febrovery 2021!

Although I didn't ,manage to finish a mini rover to go in the back and a backdrop - so that'll follow!

Tasked to traverse the snow capped world of Krysto by HF Mission Control, Stormer has been sent to rescue a team of trapped Brickonium miners within the crystalized tunnels below the frozen surface. He comes prepared for the cold; equipped with a chain-sledge splitting maul to cut through the ice, a spear gauntlet for any glacial climbing, as well as thermal armor and an extra energy pack to both boost power and longevity to his gear. With the assistance of the rocket research team and their prototype satellite tech to track his way, it’s a race against temperature and time to find the isolated miners and bring them back safely.

Inspired by the absolute force of positivity that is @ben.cossy! As well as other previously similar characters of this concept by @bobthedoctor27, @kutorakh, @datavoltus, and IGU on Flickr!

And a huge thanks again to the profound and wise editing advice of @loafbuilds!

Dr. Kelvin explores with the IP25 Drone. The asymmetrical head design was intentional, a bold choice that breaks away from all the mecha I've built so far, and one I ended up really liking.

Greetings to everyone!

This is my 1st of 2 vehicles for Febrovery 2022. Both Ice Planet Themed. Hope you like this one!

The lifting function of the drilling rig can be seen in the attached GIF in the comment section!

I built this a few months ago for a contest on Lego Ideas calling for a remake of a classic space-themed set. Obviously, I was immediately drawn to the iconic colour scheme of the Ice Planet vehicles from the 90s. C&C always welcome, cya!

I’m sure this guy will find a great panel to call home some day... till then it’ll waddle around and maybe he’ll find more friends? Or even a rover? ...

Time will tell

This one's not that great, but a rover is a rover.

I was looking at the treadbike arrangement of my Blacktron treadbike and those trans neon orange wheel hubs and got the idea to make an Ice Planet treadbike rover. Except this one has skis at the rear instead of another wheel.

This build is Ice Station Icarus on the planet Krysto, inspired by Ice Planet 2002 but using the range of pieces and building techniques now available.

The colour scheme and styling of this build will hopefully be recognisable to any fan of the original LEGO Ice Planet 2002 sets (1993-1994), though I have broadened the colour scheme ever so slightly for my post-apocalyptic Ice Planet setting.

This build features my previously posted KDF-07 Frost Giant Mech and Surefoot TR3 Rover

So far I have only take four overall photos, however in the coming weeks I will add more detailed photos here.

On the Ice Planet, sometimes a handheld transparent chainsaw blade just isn't enough. For times like these, you need the RoverSaw2002.

Hello, here's Ned again and you're watching the Trans Galactic Info Channel (TGIC) this time from a moon in the Krysto system.

It's definitely icy around here, let me take a look at this rover.

The mobile lab, Triton IV, is used to gather crystal info and transport the crew to remote locations to gather resources and perform research.

The cockpit has room for two, a driver and a navigator. On the top is a look out post and with some sensors to perform measurements.

The inside compartment can be sealed with the hatches, located on both sides. To fit large equipment inside, the roof above the hatches can also be opened. So heavy equipment can be lifted inside.

Thanks for watching, and don’t forget to subscribe, and follow me @NedIsTheBest.meta3.moon2be.

For this build, I again tried something different, adding a more rugged look to the ice planet vehicle in addition to the orange colour I had added on my previous build.

After seeing some amazing Ice Planet builds from Dale Harris I was inspired to make something different this time around.

Inspired by the hype and reruns of Star Wars recently, I finally got around to editing my Hoth diorama from last year.
