Boy Behind The Lens Series - Day 9

I don't drink but I'm the drinks kind of person.

Cherry Coke, Seven Up, Tropicana Pink Lemonade, Ribena, iced tea, ginger ale, apple juice, OJ, iced lattes...I love them all, and like them with plenty of ice.

And for someone who doesn't eat his meals regularly, and usually skips breakfast (and sometimes lunch) beverages are an important part of my diet, a staple of every day.

My favorite drink of all time has got to be F&N Ice Cream Soda (Schweppes also makes one that comes real close). I like Coke after a fatty meal; have an iced venti caramel machiato from Starbucks almost every day; and have lots of water with me regularly to wash all that sugar down.

EXPLORE #334 - February 24, 2010

After our pork dinner, we decided to take a little walk around our neighborhood — Mapo-gu. It was already late, around 10 PM, and almost everything was closed. The streets were quiet, the shop windows dark… and then — unexpectedly, we stumbled upon a true island of joy in the middle of all that silence.

✨ Bright, yellow, glowing — it was MEGA COFFEE.

I peeked inside — this is a well-known Korean café chain you simply can’t miss. It’s famous for its giant-sized drinks, cheerful yellow interiors, and ultra-Instagrammable menu 🍹💛

Here’s what was displayed in the window (left to right) — it all looked like something from a dessert fairytale:

1. 큐브라떼 (Cube Latte) — iced latte with chocolate or jelly cubes, MEGA COFFEE’s signature drink

2. 🍪 쿠키프라페 (Cookie Frappe) — Oreo shake topped with whipped cream and cookie crumble

3. 🍓 스트로베리치즈 (Strawberry Cheese) — strawberry cheesecake frappe with real cheesecake chunks

4. 🍓 딸기통크런치 (Strawberry Crunch) — strawberry frappe topped with cereal (with a “추천” sticker — “recommended”)

5. 🌿 민트초코쉐이크 (Mint Choco Shake) — mint chocolate shake with a thick layer of whipped cream

6. 🍊 허니자몽티 (Honey Grapefruit Tea) — refreshing tea with honey, grapefruit, lime, and ice

💛 What makes MEGA COFFEE special:

• The drink sizes are truly mega

• Iced Americano for just 1,500 won (you can even see it on the banner at the entrance!)

• A massive menu: frappes, shakes, teas, juices, lattes

• Constantly updated seasonal and aesthetic creations — with cereal, pudding, whipped colors, and more

This is your classic Korean dessert café experience — a place where students and young people don’t just grab a drink, they stay for hours with something pretty in hand

That night, we didn’t end up getting anything — we were just way too full after dinner.

But the next morning… of course, we came back ☕💛

Mari thought it would be funny if I put up an unexpected food (well, beverage) photo again. Rocanini Coffee Roasters, Steveston, Richmond, BC. September 24, 2011. (Thanks again to Maurice for the extended play time with his new Olympus m.Zuiko Digital 45mm f/1.8!)

I bad mouth the evil green so much, but damn. There are moments when a tall iced vanilla nonfat latte hits the spot. Especially with them banana chocolate chip coffee cake thingies. On real-feel 105F days.

Sweet Homemade Caramel Iced Latte Coffee with Whipped Cream

Iced latte Coffee and a danish. It’s a start

This week's favorite - chai tea latte - hot or iced.

Who needs a pick-me-up? Just relax, the weekend is right around the corner! Have a wonderful one : )

Paty Cafe

Motomachi, Yokohama

This week’s theme for my Macro Mondays group is “Keeping It Cool.” This is a close-up of an iced latte. I had just poured the espresso into the iced milk, so you can still see the crema on top.

HMM!

I was fine. Sitting quietly here in the office, sipping on my Sweet Tangerine Positive Energy* Yogi Tea. Out of my "(Super)Girls Rule!**" mug of course.

Until Georgette had to go and post a photo all about caffeine. Which lead to me reminiscing about the lattes part of The Great Zombies and Lattes Road Trip of 2014.

Which involved multiple stops at the adorable, hipstery Moonbean cafe in Toronto's Kensington Market neighborhood.

And at least one slice of their out of this world, divine Milky Way cake. This cake. There just aren't enough words to explain how amazing this cake was. (Also the company, Georgette and Jerome, was nice too after a long day of zombie stalking.)

*Could use all the positive energy I can get this week. I really hate working around a bunch of @$$h@t$ that go out of their way to be douchebags to people because it makes them feel bigger and better about themselves.

**Because I have serious Supergirl, Batgirl, and Wonder Woman issues. Especially Batgirl. The original Batgirl...not the ruined by Alicia Silverstone Batgirl.

Coffe and camera - Iced latte' and Nikon SP with Nikkor 85 f2.0

Summer is here and iced lattee's are required for those picture taking walks.

My friend Chris and I have a recycling program for photographic magazines. Coffee and exchange. Not may worth while magazines left though. The english Black & White Photography is one and then the occasional french magazine "Photo" mainly.

Earlier in September I loaded up a couple of Nikon F's with Orwo UN 54. The Nikon re-loadable cassettes work fine in the F's.

This is with an early F # 6436546 which I found at a swap some years ago. I had the mirror replaced as it had cracked - the foam "bumper" had dissolved.

The 5.8 cm f1.4 was the first of Nikon's fast 50's - not one of Nikon's best either. Prone to flare, soft at f1.4 - but it was replaced with the 50mm f1.4 which was a huge improvement.

Homemade iced mocha latte with fresh whipped cream and dark chocolate drizzle...

Filling the creativity

Just another one. Nikon SP and Nikkor 28mm f3.5 and Tuulikkis Lumix with the Canon 25mm f1.8 - and the iced latte and Capuccino.

Iced Latte...from STARBUCKS!!!!! Happiness, really. Don't worry, I had mostly finished it when I let her try the straw... but I don't think she even got a drop out.

And yes, that is a bride and groom behind me.
