I am at Skegness using my iPad, I have to keep asking Jonathan where the places are that I took photos of along the way when on our

‘Tremendous long journey ‘ we are both being boiled alive in this caravan so to say he became hot under the collar when I wish to be certain where my photo was taken is putting it mildly lol…we have the best fan in here apparently but I reckon I am now a steamed pudding - but I’m not complaining. Who am I kidding ?

Answers on a postcard please 🌝🔥🌞

She is definitely not amused for sure and I believe she is wondering where the ocean has disappeared too…. This sea mist was so thick and drifting and the light became sort of spectral and like that during a Solar Eclipse.. it made for a few different photos and coming here without a break every year for at the least 35 years I never experienced this during previous holidays. The previous day the café at Porthtowan burned down so I thought this was smog but was told by people it definitely wasn’t…,,We are busy now as going to pack our awning and wind breaks away realdy to leave early tomorrow morning but I shall if

Lo and behold I get internet I hope to do more catching up….thank you everyone for your continued support and I do hope when we get back home Tuesday or Wednesday to catch up some more… Sue :)

Btw I took some camera shots which are not available to me and this iPhone shot taken 6 whole days ago popped in a few minutes ago.. I am thoroughly fed up with iPhone as I pay £8 a month storage yet I’m getting the odd photo popping up here and there and surely it shouldn’t rely on WiFi Jonathan has taken many shots to send his son, daughter and their partners in Calgary Alberta but he too is bewildered as it never happened before 🤔

'The day it all went down'

A ride on the London Eye catches the Houses of Parliament in all their staid and classical glory.

The mood of our elected brethren within however was rather more febrile. For, just two-and-a-half-hours earlier, Sir Keir Starmer had resigned as the UK Prime Minister after months of intense pressure, primarily from within his own Labour Party relating to his inability to effectively lead the Government in achieving its manifesto goals. The final catalyst came when Andy Burnham, Mayor for Manchester, was given permission to stand as an MP in the Ashton-in-Makerfield by-election initiated as a result of the incumbent Labour MP standing down to allow Burnham to try win a place in Government. Burnham has been openly critical of Starmer's leadership and is widely seen as a shoo-in to become his successor.

Starmer had vowed to fight on stating that his achievements were a work-in-progress with more time needed. After the Thursday win by Burnham however, senior Labour figures effectively told Starmer over the weekend that he no longer had the support of the House, and his position was untenable.

So, at 9.30am on Monday 22nd June, Starmer finally announced his resignation - a move most political commentators and many voters saw as both inevitable, and not before time. Having led the Labour Party to a very comfortable outright majority at the 2024 General Election, in just 2 years Starmer's star had fallen on the back of both mis-steps and a perceived inability to get things done. How is legacy will ultimately be seen, if indeed there is one, only time will tell.

This shot was taken as 12.10pm. I waited until a red London 'Boris(!) Bus' was crossing Westminster Bridge - which strangely coincided with an Uber Boat coming in to the frame. Whether the latter moored up beside the House of Commons hoping for a fare, I didn't notice ;)

Grey heron in the middle of the city

A glorious walk around the idyllic Llanwyddan and Traeth Penrhos beaches last Friday - and no shortage of dead crabs and other crustaceans to be found on the latter either.

Not the first time it has happened, although this event was nowhere near as bad as one from a few years ago. Various reasons have been put forward for the phenomenon ranging from climate change stress to algal growth to lack of oxygen / nutrients in the water - but seemingly no definitive cause has been found.

it does provide a feast for the local birds and wildlife however, and just about all of the carcasses had been picked clean to the bone, including the remnant above.

When I read someone was going to try to get a photo of the Poppies at Pentire….I couldn’t reach Pentire from Skegness so we drove into the countryside and came across this field with no crop and lots of weeds besides Poppies and other wild flowers.

I used my iPhone as well as my Fuji camera’s and this one says IPhone 16 pro but the info has so much info it surprised me such as multi segment metering and white balance auto…..I have to admit to not seeing all that info from my iPhone previously but perhaps I never noticed it. Well it isn’t Pentire but a nice field to come across. The field had no boundary near the road and a sort of pull in that had obviously been used by many cars previously.

Disappointingly no Cornflowers so I was more than pleased with the tiny patch of blue in the sky. We went two afternoons here and for the most part the sky was disappointing but made for a nice drive out. Sue :)

Well we are in Cornwall in spirit but the old body is lagging behind a bit. We keep losing things so I had to eat my weetabix off a dinner plate. The chains to tether the dogs outside the caravan are missing so our first order to Amazon was sent pretty sharpish and we have yet to erect the awning which feels slightly daunting which despite my colour coding the parts that need fixing together have a habit of tricking us into a false sense of security lol…..it looks very hot ( I’m not complaining just saying )

So we hope to get moving pretty sharpish lol…hope you are all managing ok in the heat wave Sue:)

What a difference a fortnight makes. This was taken two weeks ago on an unseasonably cold morning in mid-May whilst today, as I type this, it's 26 Celsius and I'm lathered in sun cream. Stupid British weather. Anyway, here's Elina, ready to rock the play park in monochrome magic with extra sharpening and subtle graining. HSS everybody! :)

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to view, fave or comment on my images this year - it's very much appreciated.

I hope you and your loved ones enjoy the festive season and my best wishes for a safe, happy and healthy 2026. Take care.

These horses came to visit my campsite the other day. They belong to a ranch down the road. This was taken on the other side of the road from where I was camped.

A view of Salt Lake City and the state capital as I was hiking the Ensign Peak Trail.

Please, don't "award" my photo with copy and paste comments, gif's and other glittering self- or group-promoting stuff.

I shot this while walking my dog. I didn't bring my camera because I didn't think there were any clouds. I was wrong about that. Fortunately my phone did a good job capturing what I saw.

Driving back from Porthleven yesterday the sky was beautiful and Umbellifers still looking good. Add in a farm gate/ gatepost and I scream stop lol….its a simple scene but one that brings me pleasure. The grass/ hay newly mowed in the adjacent field and all felt well in my world. Just one of those moments that make a holiday feel just that…..a lovely holiday. Sue :)

Taken at Cottonwood Canyon State Park in Oregon.

Chatsworth at Christmas is always worth a visit with the festive market, the house bedecked with decorations, and the lit gardens.

This last year was no exception, and the film projected on to the facade was as enchanting as ever - for kids and adults alike.

But would Mr. Darcy approve?

Leeds may be a (fairly) contemporarily-built train station, but this view down the platform strongly reminded me of the gloomy Victorian edifices of the 60s / early 70s which still harboured decades of soot and grime from the steam age.

I framed up the shot with that in mind and made sure to expose as best I could the bright front-end of the DMU, so as to capture a highlight in the gloom. Well, the best I could with the iPhone anyway.

Further editing was done back home to give the effect I was after. I don't normally post a couple of the same train straight after one another, but figured the unit in this instance was only a small, albeit important, component of the whole.

For the record, Northern 'Sprinter' unit 158797 stands waiting on signals at platform 9 with the late-running 9.16am Halifax - Hull (2K10). Goes to full-screen quite well.

A ticket to ride on the Dartmouth Steam Railway also comes with a free ferry crossing from the Kingswear terminus, over the river, to Dartmouth - which arguably includes one of the best views of the town.

Never mind the houses overlooking the harbour, who wouldn't want to be custodian of one of those splendidly placed (and rather less expensive) allotments top right?

Jonathan dozed on a grassy bank whilst I walked around Southwold...I have been trying unsuccessfully to add to the tags.

This shot was taken by an IPhone 16pro…having said that it was from a raw file and processed along with my other Sony camera shots. The raw files I prefer are absolutely enormous and eat up more space on my hard drive than a Sony camera shot tbh but do retain far more detail than when set to high quality jpeg..not truly a win win for the iPhone imho and cannot replace a camera but handy if you want to be quick like I did on this particular occasion :)

21st March 2025

This was my view yesterday from the spot I spent the night in AZ.

Taken using my iPhone 16pro just as the sun was setting. I am loath to use my iPhone tbh as I prefer cameras but the photos are at least also on my iPad. A good backup but not my preferred option but I’m trying to keep to uploading one shot a day after I was shocked at my Flickr year page which showed I spent far more time commenting on thousands of shots leaving my own behind. Most people wouldn’t think of uploading shots when away on holiday but as this is our second home we easily spend half our time here…it’s more a second home than anything but missing a computer and photo shop. I don’t do much editing of the photos when away just click auto enhance which just brings out the colours a little…I think if I sat editing photos we would never get out and 2 bouncy dogs won’t allow that Sue :)
