david & goliath (aka we are victims of this folly) AMPt_community black and white EyeEm Best Shots WeAreJuxt.com #procamera #snapseed #iphone #photography #eyeem /// often I find when I don't post shots immediately and allow them to sit for a while, the subtle messages that I unconsciously capture are not apparent until I've made a decision whether to post an image or not. I have looked at this image in my photo album for days and it occurred to me that it reflects how I feel about the way fashion and beauty is marketed to women. There is no single woman who is untouched by advertising and marketing; more of us have issues with weight, self esteem etc because of advertising and the pursuit of one society has deemed to be the 'ideal'. Even after decades of Oprah, it is still a struggle. There are some mothers who do a disservice to their daughters, and their are those, like me, who strive to implant in my child's mind individuality and the idea that the notion of "perfection" does not exist.

Michael Fanone, now retired, was an undercover policeman for the city of Washington DC, who self deployed to the US Capitol the day the MAGA crowd stormed Capitol Hill. He was beaten with a blue lives matters flag pole, electrocuted with a tazer or cattle prod, beaten, suffered a heart attack and suffers a concussion. He gave testimony the first day of the January 6th hearings and has written a book. Great interview and talk. Big turn out.
Interviewed by Congress person Eric Swalwell, Democrat from California, who became friends with Mr Fanone over the work in the second impeachment of Donald Trump.

“Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.”
― Robert Frost

'one to wonder'
maybe it’s enough sometimes just to know
and sometimes maybe it’s best to let go
instead of chasing dreams and ghosts
and things that may never really be what they seem
it all leads one to wonder if we really know
when something is real
or if we’re just entranced by the need to feel
that there’s something special there to hold on to
to stop ourselves from slipping or breaking in two

The Market (a very short photo essay) Part 5: The Superfood AMPt_community WeAreJuxt.com EyeEm Best Shots foodporn Chinese Broccoli is the king of all super foods - it is one of the main reasons why bowel cancer is rare amongst the Chinese anywhere in the world. We eat Chinese spinach and Chinese broccoli like it is going out of fashion: steamed with a drizzle of premium oyster sauce, stir fried with thin slivers of any meat, it is the most powerful anti-oxidant and I feel something amiss when I don't have one or the other at least 5 times a week. It is the yin that balances all the yang we can consume. #procamera #iphone #photography #eyeem (the tags are for Facebook) - and that may be the end of this short story. Unless more pop up on my photo stream!
