The island of Ios, in Greece, is a part of the Cyclades Islands in the south of Greece. Ios is a short ferry ride for Santorini making an extended holiday or even a day trip a viable option.
Over the last few years,Ios has developed into an island that has something for all ages to enjoy. For many years Ios was known as the party island, however, there is so much more that Ios has to offer.
Augustus 1977. Ios is een eiland dat behoort tot de Cycladen, een Griekse eilandengroep die zich in de Egeïsche Zee bevindt, ten oosten van de Peloponnesos archipel.
Ios ligt ten noorden van Santorini en ten zuidwesten van Naxos. In 2005 had het eiland ongeveer 1820 inwoners.
De hoofdstad, Ios Stad, ligt in het westen van het eiland, aan de kust. De stad zelf heeft een haven, en de Gialos haven ligt ten noordwesten van deze stad.
Het is een bergachtig eiland met vele kerkjes en kapelletjes. Ios-stad ( Chora ) is de hoofdstad van het eiland en heeft een typisch Cycladische stijl qua schilderachtige straatjes en witte huisjes. Chora is tegen een heuvel opgebouwd en op de top staan twee ruïnes van het middeleeuws kasteel en de Venetiaanse Aghios Nicolaos kapel.
