I originally posted this one privately to our weekly theme challenge group, but several of the members suggested I post it publicly, so here it is.... very different from anything I've ever done before.
I had a hard time with this one...I had the idea in my head but couldn't quite execute it the way I wanted to. And of course, it was my husband to the rescue again - in the shape of his hand :)
I used a tripod so the camera wouldn't shake with the slower shutter in the dark room. I turned off all the lights and closed the doors and just used a phone flashlight behind his hand, which he is holding with his other hand.
Those of you who have already seen this and commented, please ignore :)
My husband and I saw this owl yesterday in the late morning and decided to leave it as it rested near the log and try back later in the evening. We drove around looking for other birds ( had a great sighting of a cooper's hawk) and had a nice lunch by the ocean. We returned to where we saw the snowy owl and luckily it was still there. It perched up on the log in perfect evening light about 30 minutes before sunset . Right at sunset it flew to a tree to start its hunting routine. What a perfect ending to a perfect day :-).
This is an archive image that I have never uploaded anywhere. It was transformed from color to B n W for this week's themed group, Smile on Saturday. The theme is "HIGH CONTRAST PORTRAIT in B&W".
Jack was in the yard adjusting sprinklers. He was soaked from head to toe. I was out taking photos of butterflies and birds. However, the most interesting subject in the yard at the time was Jack. So, I turned the camera towards him.
We were engaging in normal conversation as he was working away. Of course, I was click, click, clicking away. Suddenly, Jack looked up and I was caught. I love the fact that after all these years the moment he looks at me, a big grin appears on his face.
Have a wonderful day and happy snapping.

I was already tired of looking for the spinifex pigeon and decided to sit on a bench in the car parking, when my husband called me. Jumping among the branches was this spectacular wren. It was always moving but I managed to take some photos.
Ormiston Gorge - Alice Springs - Northern Territory - Australia
The beautiful Lago di Carezza which is perhaps one of the most beautiful lakes in the world - surely? With it's crystal waters and backdrop it's truly a sight to behold and no wonder so popular.
I persuaded my husband to drive me the hour and a half from our accommodaton at 5am to get this picture. To say he wasn't too excited about this prospect is an understatement! However, it was the only photography time I asked for on our holidays so he relented. We had a good hour or so here without a soul around us. He said he quite happily sat on the bench and drank in the view whilst I messed on with my camera! I'd annoyingly forgotten my filter ring and had to hold my filters in front of the lens so I did only get one or two shots
Just being here was worth it though. My fourth visit but by far the best without the all the people; so tranquil.
Fairly typical, I think, of the area in which we are lucky enough to live - hills, fields, stone walls, messy verges, plenty of trees and hedgerows - it's natural and lovely. I came to the Cotswolds with my first husband in 1978, and I truthfully haven't wanted to live anywhere else. The sea pulls, but so long as I can get to see and smell and feel it occasionally, this is home!!
London's Royal Albert Hall in winter's afternoon sunlight. A concert hall opened in 1871 by Queen Victoria in memory of her late husband, Albert.
Grandpa had no sons, therefore when his daughter married and she took on the name of her husband, Grandpa's name will fade with the memory of him after his life. These are the things he was reflecting on as he watched his precious granddaughter play.
This photo was taken by my husband.
The reason: My camera was set up wrong, which caused all my photos to fail. He took a few photos that I pointed out.

My husband and I were so so lucky to see this cutie (female, an oldie) on the Dutch beach Langevelderslag Noordwijk.
She was taking a nap over there! :-) She was a female oldie, the team from the mammals ambulance said. Apparently someone called them, but this lady was fine! :-)
My husband Dave took this DRONE shot.

Accompanied my husband to the VNEA World Pool Championships in Las Vegas where he and his team played for a few days. After they won $200 and were eliminated, there was time for a bit of sightseeing. This was a store inside the Miracle Mile Shops.
Happy Window Wednesday!
Macro Mondays theme: Cotton
My binraker husband brought in a discarded sequin art kit about a week before Christmas. I had some flocked black adhesive paper for lining jewelry boxes, so I thought I would try a little miniature string art with the tiny pins. The circle has a diameter of 7cm (~2.75 inches). He had just been talking about filography, the art of thread sculpture, and remembering a large piece he had done in wire in the 80s. I remembered the popularity of the trend but never got around to trying it. Now I can say I have. It had its moments, but the pins in the polystyrene had trouble resisting the pull of the thread, found when I cleared out my mom's stuff a few years back. The No. 8 pearl cotton thread was manufactured by Anchor Coats in Pakistan. It seems fitting that the video tutorial I followed was done by a Pakistani artist. The title is a reference to the math involved. No, I do not understand it but find it all fascinating just the same.

My husband and I observed an Osprey pair for 90 minutes on April 10, 2023, in Cook County, Illinois. During this observation period, we photographed the pair mating twice and the male leaving the nesting area twice to bring sticks back to place into the nest.
Last year, we observed an Osprey pair at the same location from May 4th to June 12th, 2022.
On June 12, 2022, the temperature was 74 F, then came the brutal, record-breaking heatwave with temperatures reaching over 100 F for nearly a week, followed by high 90's! We worried about how the Ospreys would fare. Sadly, we never saw either of the adult Ospreys after June 12, 2022. Osprey nesting failures are attributed to a number of factors, including eggs not being viable, chicks not receiving enough food, which is also how they obtain the required water they must have to avoid dehydration, receiving contaminated food, aerial predation by owls, crows, or hawks, and falling from the nest or being pushed out by a sibling. Additionally, extreme fluctuations in weather conditions certainly play a tremendous role in nest failure. Any of these conditions could have caused them to abandon their nest.
Studies indicate that Ospreys exhibit site fidelity and will try again. Although this pair has not been banded, presumably they are the same pair.
It will be exciting to observe them and see if they have better luck this year.
*In Cook County, Illinois Ospreys are listed as Threatened. "Pandion haliaetus is Listed Threatened; Number of Occurrences (41); Last Observed 2022-06-28."

======================
LORD CAVERSHAM. And it is high time for you to get married. You are thirty-four years of age, sir.
LORD GORING. Yes, father, but I only admit to thirty-two—thirty-one and a half when I have a really good buttonhole. This buttonhole is not . . . trivial enough.

My husband spotted this in a tree about 300 yards away in the forest east of our place.
I ran out on the porch and took these hand held. Earlier this year we had a Turkey Vulture pose in this same area for us for a while.
The Big Birds must love these trees!
It was fun to photograph him.

Female on the left and the male on the right, probably discussing their plans for the day.
While I was focused on the bottom of the waterfall, my husband and sister were watching the coyote that was watching us. It was about 15 yards away and moved on. Didn't want to hang out with us wandering all over the area.

Eamon Cale continues gently, "Father, by your plan man and woman are united, and married life has been established as the one blessing that was not forfeited by original sin or washed away in the flood." He smiles at Bails. "Look with love upon this woman, your daughter, who will join to her husband in marriage. She asks your blessing. Give her the grace of love and peace."
Iohannes Crispien grins at the 'two becoming one' Looking at Bails, blushing as he considers her his better half.
Eamon Cale looks to Ioh. "May her husband put his trust in her and recognize that she is his equal and the heir with him to the life of grace. May he always honor her and love her as Christ loves his bride, the Church. Father, keep them always true to your commandments. Keep them faithful in marriage and let them be living examples of that faith."
Bailey Longcloth smiles at Ioh, honor, love, trust. Those three things they both shared she knew without doubt.
Elise Capalini's throat gets tight. She swallows hard, but it doesn't ease. She tries not to cry as she watches Bails and Ioh, wondering if this is how parents felt when their kids got married. She listens to Eamon's strong voice, the words he says, and all that rests beyond them.
Another version of the shot my husband took of me almost falling through the elevator doors. I'm really liking the Calista+ app!

My Grandmother - Lucy - a President and mentor to me.
She was nick named "lightning" by my grandfather (her husband) Cecil Dopson, for her high energy and spark. A well deserved moniker.
I think her middle name, Jubilee, was given her because one of her parents was 50 years old when she was born about the turn of the century - a late child to be sure. Soon she was on her own in a world that did not think women should work.
She made her way and became a photographer and worked for McDaniel's Photography lab in Jacksonville, Florida - long before women were supposed to work or be professionals.
{added comments for People Who Mattered} So many people have made a difference in my life. Love my parents and so many neighbors and mentors. But, without a doubt, the single strongest influence was this lady, my grandmother, Lucy Jubilee Hopkins Dopson.
She gave me and my brothers piggy banks for Christmas and told us that if we filled them she would take us on vacation trips - she paid for everything except she made us use our savings to buy junk and ice cream.
She let me use her camera and she paid for the then extravagant cost of film, development and printing - if and only if - I kept a detailed log of every shot I took recording the light, time of day, aperture, shutter speed, etc.
Then she would review each image and ask me about them and if I was satisfied with the outcome.
