Looking down into Coire Mor an Teallaich and over the remote Fisherfield Forest towards the coast from the bealach between Sron a Choire and Bidein a Ghlas Thuill on my (laboured) way up An Teallach.
The day had started beautifully (see prev. upload flic.kr/p/2pBKtbu) but deteriorated as I got higher & I'd already had to hunker down & get full waterproofs on as an extended squall came over.
This brief patch of sunlight was about the last I would see during the day.

When the winter storm blows in all one can do is hunker down. I think this is a common grackle in the winter.
Like some form of gateway, an arch serves to frame the rising sun. As to the purpose of this rectangular item, I am at a loss. Likely it once served to receive a boat, but now is just another hunk of wood connected to the structure. However, it too was at the Hopkins Pier and at that time, worked well as a compositional element.
The brilliance of the light threw the wooden arch into the shadows, which delivered a useful silhouette. At the time, I was thinking it can be useful to include a sense of mystery in an image.
All of us should be hunkering down and sheltering in place like these ladies to better keep us all safe and cared for.
While walking down the street one day, I came across this critter.
Odd looking sort who was obviously indicating it would like company.
But, like Little Red Riding Hood, I thought 'what a big mouth you have', so I just took its picture and moved on.
The latest Ford GT running it's V-6 producing 660 hp.......should slice through the air with ease don't you think? No it's not the GT40, of 58 years ago, named so as 40 inches high was the minimum at LeMans, and this grandkid is 43 inches (for taller customers), and the engine isn't the hunking NASCAR fire breathing 427, but almost 60 years of improvements jack up the horse power with the smaller lighter engine......nicely. Not a car to leave for a couple hours in the K-Mart parking lot while you search through the Blue-Light Specials.......but what a rush to slam the pedal to the floor......and WhewwwHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
A fresh female Small Blue (Cupido minimus) hides from the weather on a mostly dull afternoon at Pleasley Pit Country Park in east Derbyshire. There were occasional short gaps in the stubborn cloud but she was reluctant to move far from this protected spot in the Hawthorn.
There were a couple of freshers on site but most of the now low numbers were getting tatty. The impression so far is that this year's first emergence is much smaller than last year and that it will be a discete event from any second brood. Last year there were Small Blues present on all visits in May, June, July and August.
How often does a girl get her photo taken with Keanu Reeves, right?
Not sure if this photo did him justice, because he is hot AF!
@Zirca with Nelson Lee, Mister Singapore 2009. Nelson is actually much taller. Us girls were on a step platform and he was on the step below us, making him look much shorter than he is in this photo.

In the earliest days of America's involvement in World War II, there was no greater induction inducement for younger guys planning to enlist,or waiting to be drafted, than to pick-up a national magazine, or see in a newsreel at the local "Bijou", their favorite actor, Movie Star, or anyone of prominence at the time, joining the military ranks. It was a period of unparalleled "Patriotism", and probably rightfully.
Here a cameraman of the time has captured Tyrone Power getting his induction shots as he joins the Marines. For any number of young men this had to be a great incentive,as well as inspiration, to join-up!
