Humanity is facing which is perhaps its biggest challenge ever. Will we choose wisely? Hard to know at this point...

The MetOffice have released their three month advance forecast for the UK and it is expected that, in the midst of the cost of living crisis, we are likely to face a colder than average winter. These advance forecasts are getting harder to predict with rapid arctic warming destabilising the high altitude jet streams. People in the UK are already having to choose between heating and eating as they struggle with obscene energy prices while the energy companies rake in excessive profits. It will be a tough winter ahead.
Stay safe my Flickr friends.

2019 was the most amazing year of photography for me. Don't Dream It's Over...
Stay safe.
This impressive bronze sculpture ("Leaf Spirit") was originally made for the Chelsea Flower Show (2017) and a year later moved to Kew Gardens, London. It has been photographed thousands of times and, I am sure, will be so in the future. The sculptor, Simon Gudgeon, used the idea of the imprint of leaves to make a connection between the human face and nature. If we take nature apart, we also destroy the human face. Something to think about. Ignore the date. This shot was done on the 10th of May 2021.
Sometimes, it´s harder to Dream...

As of today, people in Bavaria who do not have gene therapy substances administered to them are largely excluded from social life by the so-called 2G rule;
and this, although there is no difference to the syringe recipients in terms of transmissibility of the Covid-19 disease.
Some speak of 'vaccination apartheid' and discrimination -
some compare these rules (the exclusion of a group of people) with events in the period around 1938.
In my opinion, they are right.
There are adults who are actively teaching
Violence against others to their children
Indoctrination into a sort of religion
Glorifying violence as their God
Humanity….
"It was a nice idea while it lasted”
vs.
“It ain’t over ’till it’s over”
Which one is accurate?
We are in a time when it is ok to follow the leader
Even if the person in power incites violence
Convinces you that you are somehow better
And separate from the others
You actually have much more in common with
Darwin would recognize all of this as
Survival of the Fittest
And say it’s in our DNA
Unavoidable like an endless plague.
Humanity should come with a warning label.
Just because you say it over and over again
Doesn’t make it true
Rhymes and media can’t change the fact
The one in power is filled with hatred and damage
No TV spots will change the reality of a reality star
His actions speak louder than words
But the words are not so great, either
"I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody,
and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK?” "
I keep wondering…
Were there two early humans who picked up a sharp rock…
Each determined to make different choices
One, decided to do art and drew on the cave
The other chose the path to violence
Art vs. War which one will last longer?
And the one who saw nature as a weapon…
Did that early human bludgeon the artist anyway?
Have we been doomed from the start?

Captured in August 2020 when Covid infection levels were very much lower than the current ONS estimated 1 in 20 in the UK.
Between England and Scotland we currently have 1,000 Covid deaths per week. (*Covid-19 mentioned on the death certificate means that it is a contributory factor in the death).
That's 52,000 per year, ongoing!
Covid-19 hospitalisations for ENGLAND only, where treatment for the disease is required whether admitted for it or if it was hospital acquired for first 6 weeks of summer:
2020: 5,558
2021: 21,737
2022: 62,381
In the UK:
1 in 70 people have been admitted to hospital with Covid
1 in 332 has died of Covid as a cause
1 in 37 had or is suffering Long Covid
1 in 3.2 people have been officially registered as a case at least once
An estimated 80,000 people have left the work force due to Long Covid
Stay safe my Flickr friends and I wish you all a fantastic weekend of photography - wherever you are.
Taken at Thunnus Bay at the Fantasy Fair Event
I read a report last year of a research crew doing a deep sea dive and amongst the things that floated past the camera was one of these, a 6 pack strip which I took as my inspiration. It seems they get everywhere - a reminder to ensure you rip/cut it apart before you trash them this summer because land animals and even pets get trapped in them.
This gorgeously textured tail by Auro is beautiful to observe in movement in the half-light and I recommend you check out the demo if you're from the Mer Community but note its for the Riptide tail only at present.

its battle against the forests, this victory will be humanity's greatest defeat!”

Don’t trees look great when lit up at night?? With lights on either side of the Severn, I got the impression that the river and trees were holding back the reach of humanity. It was a chilly night with just a hint on the breeze of the water rushing below.
"It's the sense of touch. In any real city, you walk, you know? You brush past people, people bump into you. In L.A., nobody touches you. We're always behind this metal and glass. I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something. "
{ From the opening scene of the 2004 movie "Crash" }
Of the five senses, perhaps none is more exquisite than our sense of touch. It is the first to develop and the last to leave us. While sight and hearing are undoubtedly our most fundamental necessities, it is our unique ability to reach out – to affect others through time and space – that truly separate us. It gives us grace and defines our humanity. This week, I am deeply moved by the testimonials of Sarah and Rachel. Thank you both. I am humbled by your kind words. As the holiday season is upon us, let us not forget this simple act of love and kindness.
Have a wonderful weekend with your camera.
