Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm ...
revolutionary - no fence, no partitioning, open for all citizens and a natural transition to the villages and the agricultural landscape ...
In the mid-18th century, classicism emerged in architecture and it seems that the small gems in the landscape parks were the beginning before larger urban buildings took the lead.
Baroque and Rococo buildings would not have fitted into an English country garden either.
With the age of the Enlightenment began the memory of the Greek ancient architecture and the first democracies and also of the new view of the individual in the Renaissance.
Added to this are the important visual axes that show that everything is connected to everyone.
On the other hand, a new age of dumbing down and unscientific simplification seems to emerge in recent years.
I can't yet judge how this will be seen in landscape and urban planning ... ;-) ...

Leopold III Frederick Franz, Duke of Anhalt-Dessau was a strong supporter of the Enlightenment. The Enlightenment emerged out of a European intellectual and scholarly movement known as Renaissance humanism and was also preceded by the Scientific Revolution and the work of Francis Bacon.

It was through the Duke of Anhalt-Dessau that the so-called Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm came into being in the 18th century. This also included the park and castle Großkühnau, Luisium and Georgium in Dessau and castle Oranienbaum as well as castle Wörlitz and the Wörlitzer park.
The prince's educational intention resulted from the philosophy of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the aesthetics of Johann Georg Sulzer and the art theory of Johann Joachim Winckelmann.

We are all called to the mystical life. Mysticism is not an extraordinary way of being a Christian but the ordinary way. Mysticism does not refer only to the charismatic gifts, the gratiae gratis datae, but rather to the fullness of life in the Spirit, the life of the theological virtues and gifts of the Spirit, Aquinas’s habitual grace, gratia gratum faciens,576 all of which is ordinary even if challenging, a graced life but not “cheap grace.”577

The performances of the Italian flag throwers “Sbandieratori” evoke certain aspects of military life during the Middle Ages and the Humanism, showing the charm of an ancient discipline. Harmony, Force, Commitment, Strictness are the values of this sporting art which are renewed every day as the group trains and performs with energy and enthusiasm. The performance quality and team spirit are the basis of the work added to a modern approach and the passion of its young athletes, bringing to life the prestigious art of flag throwing.
and its history ...
There are times when you manage to upload a picture but don't get around to describing it, tagging it, or assigning it to an album, realizing that it's not “perfect enough” yet. So you change the setting from public to friends or private. You can show your friends an unfinished picture ;-) ...
Every now and then, you feel the need to tidy up and discover these pictures. That's why they'll probably pop up in the future, since I'm currently in a tidying-up phase. Most of the time, however, this good will doesn't last long because other “more important” things come to the fore again.
The photo published today is one such example. It embodies my love of photography and architecture. I hope you like it too. I love other genres as well, though. You'll see.

The Hôtel-Dieu is a former hospital in Beaune. It was founded in 1443 and used as a hospital until 1971. The Hôtel-Dieu is now part of the Hospices Civils de Beaune complex. Today, parts of the old complex are used as a retirement home, while the rest can be visited as a museum and provides an interesting insight into nursing in the early modern period.
The 15th century began on January 1, 1401, and ended on December 31, 1500. The world population at the beginning of this century is estimated at 350 to 374 million people, while estimates for the end of the century range between 425 and 540 million people. European societies became increasingly differentiated and underwent change. The Renaissance and humanism in Italy propagated a changed view of humanity, in which the individual was at the center. The emerging monetary economy and increasingly differentiated economic structures shaped the economies of the numerous European empires. The accompanying decline in the importance of the natural economy and the further development of weapon technology contributed to the decline of knighthood. With the discovery of sea routes to America and India at the end of the century, Spain and Portugal heralded European expansion overseas. The Principality of Moscow and the Ottoman Empire on the fringes of Europe also began or continued their expansion. The Roman Catholic Church did not respond to the desire of many believers for change and reform.

Das 15. Jahrhundert begann am 1. Januar 1401 und endete am 31. Dezember 1500.

The pavement of the Duomo di Siena is an extraordinary work of art. It is made up of 56 elements, each designed by a great Renaissance artist and they include various scenes typical of the culture of humanism. They impress not only because of the whole but because of the amount of small details they contain.
Unfortunately it is not possible to see it always, much of the year it is covered. If you are fortunate enough to go to Siena between mid-August and the end of October you will be able to see it in all its grandeur.
Advice for sailors, although they say that the view from “La Porta del Cielo” is magnificent, you should not miss the detailed visit of each mosaic discovering its wonderful details.

The 5th Season trilogy will close on Saturday, February 11, around 12AM SLT. Three simultaneous exhibitions, Blind, Africa and Heroes, deal with the question of our myths in the face of the climate change that we ourselves have caused by our beliefs and that threatens humanism, humanity and life.
The exhibition is still on view until Saturday at Artsville.

Today, our emotions fueled by these smart guys, we are closer than ever to a tragedy such as there has never been in Europe, not even during the Nazi period. What can happen is worse than it has ever been. But people, young and older, are standing for freedom and responsibility, fighting for the values of humanism. If Europe escapes from the dead end in which a few madmen have led us, I dream of a courageous, generous, cooperative, intelligent and cultured, open and rational generation, which finally makes Europe take the path of Enlightenment and tolerance that it has lost for centuries.
