Hula is located in Northern Israel between the Golan Heights and Nezer Hill. There's plenty of water there and this is why some 500 million birds stop at Hula every year for a short break on their long way from Europe to Africa and back.

BBC Wildlife Magazine, the world's best-selling natural history and environmental magazine, has named the Hula Lake Park one of the most outstanding sites in the world for nature observation and photography.
The Hula Valley is an agricultural region in northern Israel with abundant fresh water. It is a major stopover for birds migrating along the Syrian-African Rift Valley between Africa, Europe, and Asia. The marshland around Lake Hula, a breeding ground for mosquitoes carrying malaria, was drained in the 1950s. A small section of the valley was later reflooded in an attempt to revive a nearly extinct ecosystem. An estimated 500 million migrating birds now pass through the Hula Lake Park every year.

Welcome to the dancing hula hoop challenge week! I spent 9€ in three hula hoop at the beginning of the week, and it was the best money invested lately. A cheap toy with a great value and assured fun!! Dancing hula hoop links generations. Brings nice memories to grandma's form their childhood and teach to use it to the youngest. Every friend and familiar we meet these days asked to give a try.

Hula valley, Israel, Buheirat el Huleh in Arabic and Agam ha-Hula in Hebrew. The lake covers an area of one square kilometer, interspersed with islands that serve as protected bird nesting sites. It has become a major stopover for migrating birds flying from Europe to Africa and back.
Drop-on-drop water sculpture. The ring and the hat are created by dropping water on the ascending column, which in turn was created by dropping water into a bowl full of water.
My great great grandmother was Emma Silva Fern. Her husband's brother in law was Akoni Mika and her husbands nephew was Henry Fern Pa. Emma's daughter Annie from her first marriage, married John Peter Wood, son of Peter Wood. Peter Woods brother married Kahalewai Pa. Kahalewai's sister, Mele Pa married Joseph Ilalaole and they had Joseph Ilalaole Jr. a cousin of Mary Kawena Pukui. Emma Fern was also one of Mary Pukui's hula teachers. Huapala Mader was tourist from New York who fell in love with the hula and learned from Helen Desha Beamer. Helen took her around to the kumu hula's of the day including Emma Fern, Mary Kawena Pukui and Joseph Ilalaole. Emma's step grandson was Manuel T. Silva. Emma Silva Fern, Joseph Ilalaole, Mary Pukui, Huapala Mader, Henry Fern Pa and Manuel Silva all appear on the Ilalaole/Pukui hula genealogy that is from the book "The Hula" by Jerry Hopkins.
