Rainbow Bee Eater

Der Regenbogenspint (Merops ornatus) ist ein Vogel aus der Gattung (Merops) und Familie der Bienenfresser (Meropidae). Er kommt natürlicherweise in Australien, Indonesien, Osttimor, den Salomonen und Papua-Neuguinea vor.

Das Regenbogenspintmaennchen wird 22 bis 25 cm groß, von denen aber allein der Schwanz 2 bis 6 cm misst, und rund 30 Gramm schwer. Das Weibchen ist etwas kleiner und leichter, auch wird der Schwanz beim Weibchen nur 1 bis 2 cm lang.

Der Regenbogenspint ist hauptsächlich grün und blau mit einem schwarzen Streifen über den Augen, einer grünen Kehle, einem schwarzen Schwanz und einem schwarzen Schnabel. Männchen und Weibchen haben keinen nennenswerten Dimorphismus.

Er ernährt sich von Hautflüglern, die er auf einem Ast sitzend aus einer Entfernung von bis zu 50 m erkennen kann. Nach der sofort darauf erfolgenden Jagd entfernt er bei giftigen Beutetieren mit viel Geschick den Stachel. Ein Regenbogenspint frisst mehrere hundert Insekten am Tag, deren unverdaulichen Teile er als Gewälle wieder hervorwürgt.

Vermutlich erreicht der Regenbogenspint die Geschlechtsreife am Ende des 1. Lebensjahres. Paarungszeit und Brutsaison ist in den Monaten August bis Januar. Er brütet in kleineren, losen Kolonien, hier helfen oft Jungvögel der letzten Brut bei der Aufzucht der nächsten Brut.

The Rainbow Spint (Merops ornatus) is a bird of the genus (Merops) and family of the bee-eater (Meropidae). It occurs naturally in Australia, Indonesia, East Timor, the Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea.

The rainbow spider man is 22 to 25 cm tall, of which the tail alone measures 2 to 6 cm, and weighs around 30 grams. The female is slightly smaller and lighter, and the tail of the female is only 1 to 2 cm long.

The rainbow spider is mainly green and blue with a black stripe over the eyes, a green throat, a black tail, and a black beak. Males and females have no significant dimorphism.

It feeds on hymenoptera, which it can see sitting on a branch from a distance of up to 50 m. After the immediate hunt, he removes the sting of poisonous prey with great skill. A rainbow spint eats several hundred insects a day, the indigestible parts of which it chokes out again as bulges.

Presumably the rainbow spint reaches sexual maturity at the end of the 1st year of life. The mating and breeding season is from August to January. It breeds in smaller, loose colonies, where young birds from the last brood often help with the rearing of the next brood.

Hi guys! Sorry for strawberry spamming you, but like I said..they’re everywhere and in everything😜😅!! This is a Spirulina and Vanilla Chia Pudding (with loads of strawberries I added later). I made the pudding using 2 tbsp chia seeds and ½ cup oat milk, vanilla to taste and 1 tbsp maple syrup. I added to a half 1 tsp @organicburst spirulina powder. Let it sit for at least half an hour, I left it overnight. Then I added 1 tbsp coconut soy yoghurt to spirulina part and 2 tbsp to vanilla part of pudding. Layered it spirulina pudding/vanilla pudding/more yoghurt/strawberries. It’s been a crazy few weeks for me and still is - crazy. Every since I’ve been interviewed by one of Croatian most influential websites there’s been a lot of commotion🙈 I’ve been asked by three magazines for an interview and recipes, I’m now contributing to two more websites with my recipes, I have a tv crew and a journalist coming over to my place tomorrow, both to do a story about me😁… And the usual working overtime on my job, the IG stuff and the blog on which I’m terribly behind on posting. I owe you a several things, including the detox parts 2 and 3 and the pizza. But getting there.. Just let me survive tomorrow. Do I have to tell you how incredibly nervous I am🙊??! I have 4 dishes to prepare for the photo shoot/ interview and to get myself and the kitchen look decent and presentable🙈😄… Now I’ve got to run and do the stuff due tomorrow.. A Very Berrilicious Smoothie, bursting with berry and omega 3 superpowers💫✨🌟 Sorry😅, but I just cannot resist stuffing strawberries into everything and anything in last couple of days and I have a feeling that it’s going to be a trend😜🙈 This is one of my snack/light dinner smoothies (since a green one every morning is a part of my spring detox routine I kind of miss my pink food😆💞) It was very delicious and fragrant, just bursting with flavors and sweetness of berries🍓🍉🍒 The recipe: Blend until smooth: ½ banana ½ cup raspberries or blackberries ½ cup strawberries 1 tsp @proteinworld acai powder 2 tsp @proteinworld ground flax seeds 1 cup plant milk (I used oat, but you can use any plant: almond, rice, walnut…) a small bunch of parsley (optional) a few fresh basil or mint leaves I swirled in some coconut yoghurt and chia jam for extra yumminess. A somewhat unorthodox mixture of cultures works perfectly in this slightly spicy meal-in-a-bowl. The gnocchi mimics Korean-style tteok ppoki (rice cakes) and along with extra firm tofu and a mass of veggies soaks up the delicious hoisin-ginger-garlic sauce.
