SF2SJ via Skyline: 61.2 miles, 212.5 minutes.
and 'cause I'm a data nerd..
10:04 - start at Stanyan & Fell
11:10 / 18.1mi - 3.5 min. rest at Sawyer Camp Trail (16.5mph)
12:06 / 33.7mi - 26 min. rest at Roberts (18mph)
13:08 / 44.6mi - Arastradero & Foothill Expressway (18.4mph)
14:06 / 61.2mi - San Jose (17mph)
(61.2/212.5)*60 = 17.28mph overall rolling
I was really hoping to break 3:30, but came up 2 minutes short. Blame it on the lack of folks to draft off, or to pull for.. though a friendly rider from Saratoga did draft off me for a few on Foothill, helping ease the monotony.
Part of me wants to start training, so I can get faster, but I wonder if I'd still enjoy riding as much. The real fun is in these weekend rides.

Aveva solo 22 anni quando Bill Evans incontrò Miles Davis, con cui incise “The man with the horn” e “Star people”.

With the current unstable economic market, many people are look to broaden their range of investments. The unpredictability of the stock market and housing prices has encouraged people to invest their wealth in more unconventional methods. Some of the most popular new investments modes are artwork and sports memorabilia. Both avenues offer something you can enjoy in your home while it also earns you money. These tangible assets are also considered a more stable and safe investment in today’s uncertain economic climate.
While investing in either artwork or sports memorabilia is a smart money decision, and even better payoff is to combine the two fields of potential earning. Recently, Charles Fazzino’s series of prints titled Mr. October: Reggie Jackson is expected to go for $2700 per print. That price may be worth it, considering Fazzino’s 2006 Derek Jeter series prints have more than doubled in value. Originally sold for $2000 each, they are now closer to $5000 a piece.
Beyond the obvious investment potential, sports art can also be a smart choice for personal reasons. If you are sports lover, the connection is obvious. But on a more practical level, sports art is easily available at a wide range of price points, making it a market available for anyone with interest.
When determining which piece of sports art to buy, there are a number of important factors to consider. First, make sure it has a signature. People want to know who the artist is and know that the work is an original. Beyond that, having a signature from the athlete can make the work especially valuable. Inscriptions can also up the value. Also, how successful an athlete is going to go on to become later in their career is a deciding factor. It may be worth the risk on a hot rookie that may turn into the MVP one day, as the value of that early piece will significantly increase.
Also, buying pieces that are one-of-a-kind of limited edition prints is going to give the best potential to increase your earning potential down the road. A great example of this is the most famous sports artist of all time, Leroy Neiman. You can buy a very expensive and lucrative Neiman original painting, or you can buy one of his slightly less expensive but also highly sought after limited edition serigraphs.
Either way, you are buying a better value because the piece of art you have has a guaranteed limited quality. Investing in sports art can be a very smart move. It can give add diversity to your investment portfolio and give you a way to invest your money that you can also enjoy as it appreciates in value. As long as you make smart decisions on your investments, sports art can be a smart personal and money move.

Un anno dopo, nel 2002, esce "Give me a good reason to wake up", primo album ufficiale dei Motel Connection, seguito da "Two", singolo di enorme successo.

Timi Yuro has appeared on the Ed Sullivan show, stage fright plagues the singer in former days, "I died every time" she said, "I was so scared on Ed Sullivan’s show, that Ed kept giving me hot tea and trying to calm me down. "Don’t worry" he said, "remember this is your second time on my show" "It didn’t help though". Yuro told that none of this was apparent on her show.
Complete Timi Yuro biography: www.flickr.com/people/timiyuro/
Timi Yuro was an Italian-American gal who could belt out a ballad with such power she could peel paint. She had an undeniable soulful quality but also a keen sense of jazz phrasing . . . as well as pulling r'n'b and country music into the mix. Her first big hit was Hurt in 1961 and she followed it with the equally good What's a Matter Baby (Is It Hurting You?) the following year. Timi Yuro a lady who possessed a tremendous and unique voice. She made some great records.

The great thing about the beach is that it presents an entirely different universe from season to season, from day to day, from hour to hour, from second to second, with the ever changing wind, tides, clouds, and sun. A split second with tumbling surf and a sinking sun can make a vast different, resulting in entirely different photographs.

I'm liberating poem by poem and article by article the works of Joan Salvat-Papasseit, a Catalan poet that passed away on 1924. There was a problem trying to reproduce only with HTML and text his calligrams, therefore I needed to scan... the originals, since picking them from more recent and accessible version would risk falling out of the public domain. The service of reproduction of documents of the Biblioteca de Catalunya vas kind enough to send me the 37 photographed pages in a CD knowing that I was going to upload them to WikiMedia Commons. Amazingly enough, not all puublic libraries are like this and some of them still try to keep knowlege in public domain in their physical cage.

WORD BALLOON PODCAST
On this episode of Word Balloon Fred Van Lente discusses the IDW release of The Comic Book History Of Comics, written by Fred and drawn by Ryan Dunlavey. The talk leads to the debate about fine artist Roy Lichtenstein’s pop art paintings that were based on real comic book panels. Were these painting fine art celebrating design, like Andy Warhol’s Campbell Soup Can paintings, or outright plagiarism of comic artists like Mike Sekowsky and Russ Heath?

THE IFANBOY LETTER COLUMN – 12.02.2011
What do you think about “mainstream” (or wannabe mainstream) artists working obvious copies of comic book panels into their art? The most obvious example is Roy Lichtenstein, but it continues to this day. Does this help elevate the medium? Or does it work against it, perpetuating the notion that comic books are no more subtle or nuanced since the days of Simon and Kirby?
Isaac
I really haven’t thought about it that much, and my knowledge of that side of the art world is limited, but it relates very much to the culture of “sampling” that has developed, and how much of that is art. Recently, I saw our friend and comic book writer, Joe Keatinge address this exact problem, and he did it with much verve and passion. I’d read his Open Letter as a starting point. The Lichtenstein piece in question sold for $43.2 million.
Personally, it simply doesn’t seem right that you can take a bit of art that Jack Kirby did, paste it in place, and rejigger it, then sell it for a lot of money, and the original artist gets nothing. Presumably when an artist samples music, the original songwriter should get part of those proceeds, or somehow be involved in licensing their art.
As for what’s morally right, that’s a different story. Art is subjective and interpretation is valuable, as is reinterpretation. Who’s to say what makes art art, if it makes you feel something. We look at this question all the time in comics themselves. Is incorporating photos in your are the same as drawn comic book art. Kirby himself used a lot of photo collage at certain points in his career. How can Alan Moore complain about people using his work as a starting point when he used the work of others as the starting point for so much of his work? Where is the line between inspiration and copying? It’s somewhere, but it can be hard to define and delineate.
I think this drives the point home though. This is a bit from Joe’s letter, and really sums up where the problem. is, and it is a problem.
To illustrate my point, Heath has been quoted as saying, “[Roy Lichtenstein] did four different ones based on my panels. After he died, they found the cut-up comics with my art in his office. One of those paintings sold for $4 million.” Heath has never seen a dime off the sale of what is no doubt his work, to the point he has needed help from the aforementioned Hero Initiative.
Now is it Lichtenstein’s fault that Russ Heath doesn’t have enough money to cover his bills? No. But does the situation seem right? No, it doesn’t.

This is the oldest English fort remaining on Georgia's coast. From 1721 until 1736, Fort King George was the southern outpost of the British Empire in North America. A cypress blockhouse, barracks and palisaded earthen fort were constructed in 1721 by scoutmen led by Colonel John “Tuscarora Jack” Barnwell. For the next seven years, His Majesty’s Independent Company garrisoned the fort. They endured incredible hardships from disease, threats of Spanish and Indian attacks, and the harsh, unfamiliar coastal environment. After the fort was abandoned, General James Oglethorpe brought Scottish Highlanders to the site in 1736. The settlement, called Darien, eventually became a foremost export center of lumber until 1925.
Using old records and drawings, this 18th century frontier fortification on the Altamaha River has been reconstructed for public tours. Structures include a blockhouse, officers' quarters, barracks, a guardhouse, moat and palisades. A museum and film cover the Guale Indians, the Santo Domingo de Talaje mission, Fort King George, the Scots of Darien and 19th century sawmilling when Darien became a major seaport. In addition to the many fort buildings, remains of three sawmills and tabby ruins are still visible. This site is on the Colonial Coast Birding Trail.

Fort King George State Historic Site is a fort located in the U.S. state of Georgia in McIntosh County, adjacent to Darien. The fort was built in 1721 along what is now known as the Darien River and served as the southernmost outpost of the British Empire in the Americas until 1727. The fort was constructed in what was then considered part of the colony of South Carolina, but was territory later settled as Georgia. It was part of a defensive line intended to encourage settlement along the colony's southern frontier, from the Savannah River to the Altamaha River. Great Britain, France, and Spain were competing to control the American Southeast, especially the Savannah-Altamaha River region.
Fort King George was a hardship for troops assigned there. A total of 140 officers (including Col. Barnwell) and soldiers died, mostly from camp diseases such as dysentery and malaria, due to poor sanitation (none from battle). The soldiers made up The Independent Company of South Carolina, an "invalid" company of elderly British Regulars, one hundred in all, sent over from Great Britain. Their suffering was largely caused by their own poor health, and inadequate provisions due to poor funding. Problems such as periodic river flooding, indolence, starvation, excessive alcoholism, desertion, enemy threats, and potential mutiny exacerbated hardships at the fort.
The fort was a model for General James Oglethorpe when he set up his southern defense system for Georgia and established a settlement along the Altamaha River. In 1736, Oglethorpe brought Scottish colonists to settle the site of the abandoned Fort King George. They called their village New Inverness, later named Darien. That same year, Oglethorpe built Fort Frederica on Saint Simons Island. Oglethorpe borrowed extensively from ideas laid out earlier when South Carolina imperialists, such as John Barnwell, Joseph Bowdler, and Francis Nicholson, planned Fort King George as part of a defensive system.
Operated by the state of Georgia, the fort has been reconstructed and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is open to the public for historical tours. Structures include a blockhouse, officers' quarters, barracks, a guardhouse, baking and brewing house, blacksmith shop, moat, and palisades. The park's museum focuses on the 18th-century cultural history of the area, including the Guale, the 17th-century Spanish mission Santo Domingo de Talaje, the fort, and the Scottish colonists. An exhibit explains the 19th-century sawmilling at the site and the remains of two sawmills and ruins. Tabby cement ruins, based on a regional building material, also can be found on the property. Site staff offers living history programs year-round.
