雖然黑山藥已經解釋過，因為什麼原因而選擇進入機構(詳見「漂流三部曲」)，但還是有很多擔心黑山藥無法施展抱負一展長才的朋友，每過一段時間，便會以感嘆地語氣在關心著黑山藥，你怎麼會選擇當ME(Mechanical Engineer)啊。
(我很想回”因為一時鬼迷心竅”，但我著實真的找不到那令我鬼迷心竅的原因…)
一直以來黑山藥都是這樣猜測著：對美感一向不太敏銳的機構部處長來說，在看過黑山藥濃豔色彩充斥的作品集後，還會挑選黑山藥為機構工程師的原因，應該是因為這件作品始使然吧。
(想當然爾，接下來便是進入黑山藥的回憶時間…)←真是太老梗了…
(最可怕的是，黑山藥已經有老到開始回憶過去的年紀般的心態了…)
大一基礎設計課程上，X教授(只是代號為X，不代表是具有讀心特異功能的那位X教授…)為了訓練大夥兒的幾合變化，要求同學們用珍珠板等材質，將一簡單幾合拆解後，做可以變成哪些動物的發想。
所以本堂課儼然成了「開心農場」與「快樂水族箱」的大本營，一些像七巧板拼湊而成的抽象動物，讓大家那天馬行空的欲望得以恣意發揮。
只有黑山藥相當做作地，搬出了這麼個龐然大物。
那個時候變形金剛並不如現在男女皆瘋迷地那麼流行，僅是我們這些野男孩幼時愛在那”咻~咻~咻”或”轟~哄~嚨”一個人自導自演，伴隨著童年孤單成長的玩意兒。
黑山藥小時才不管獎狀貼滿牆上可以讓爸媽如何笑不攏嘴，只在乎月考400分可以買怎樣等級的機器人，得了六百分可以換到怎樣大型的變形組合玩具。
哪怕是下大雨的一早，玩具店還半掩著鐵門尚在其內整理店面時，也要拉著老媽凌波舞般地下腰進入選購。
五獅組合(又名聖戰士)，六神合體(又名雷霆王)，或者一台車可以變成一個機器人，再組合成更大機器人等的變形金剛，一直是黑山藥百玩不膩的首選。
這份作業的呈現，黑山藥是徹底於回饋老媽過去撒給百貨公司收銀機眾多蔣公(那時還沒有”小朋友”鈔票)上有著最佳表現。
黑山藥選擇了簡單的五角形，透過一層又一層的平版堆疊特性，將方格紙上繪製的細長剖面線條實體化，轉譯在白色穩涼板(類似較厚的珍珠板或EK-Form)上；給予簡單的軌道與壓克力條固定用的卡楯後，再鋪上以酷紅為基底的卡典西德，意圖彰顯卡洛斯的帥氣。
是的，黑山藥還替他命名為「Carlos龍」。畢竟這也算是黑山藥所生的眾多兒子之一呗。
從五角形不失一點空間運用地，大方伸展成一長翅的暴龍，黑山藥在那時便理所當然地贏得了「最有閒的模型王子」稱號。
最有閒的意思是，大家都把時間拿去玩到沒空做作業，只有黑山藥成天窩在工作室做模型；可以為了一張圖，一個基礎練習作業，花上十幾個小時來完成。還不包含失敗重做的時間。
雖然享樂的時間變少了，但當時有著做模型的藉口，真可以替我們這些小男同志，擋掉不少如血氣方剛的直男老愛玩”外交聯誼”等等的不願意，也算是一大安慰。
(結果研究所時，從外系考進來的一位女同學在上課的第一天，就擋在黑山藥面前大喊：「黑山藥，我是曾抽中你的大一學伴。為什麼你一次活動也沒有出現!!」頗有王寶釧苦守寒窯十八年，受盡委屈前來索命的姿態。)
透過這件作品(瞧，黑山藥繞了那麼久，還是可以回到主題喔)，黑山藥被處長相中破例將ID背景的社會新鮮人納入機構部的團隊中，過著每天對結構強度材質應用板金耐撞性等生硬般，相當「MAN」的生活。
(話說步上黑山藥後塵的學弟卻在臨近公司的ME辦公室內，為可以看到眾多帥氣熟男而樂得天天加班咧…)
「…因此本次在請調ID一職的機會上，黑山藥是相當有意願的…」
「…日後就請各位先進前輩多多照顧了…」

環顧了週遭相處近三年的同事，和一旁透光度十足夏熱冬涼的大片落地窗，黑山藥多少還是有些不捨的。

92 honest-to-goodness rear wheel horsepower in a perfectly set-up package that weighs less than 300 pounds. Arguably the fastest DB1 in North America and likely the only one set-up for serious track day work.
Noted moto journalist, Chief Instructor at Yamaha Champions Riding School and Sport Riding Techniques author Nick Ienatsch rode the bike at Mosport last week and had this to say: "Buy it. My experience on Steve's DB-1 at Mosport couldn't have been more positive. He rolled it off the trailer Saturday morning, we rode the hell out of it all weekend, and he rode it back onto the trailer Sunday night. All Steve did was add gas. Bulletproof and extremely fun, surprisingly quick...probably the fourth-quickest lap time in the fast group at DOCC. The motor pulls strong, the bike sounds right and the chassis is sorted and composed at the limit. The problems? All the new sport bikes in the way during lapping!!"
The machine started out as a pretty tired and far removed from stock DB1 that was brought over from Europe by the previous owner and as such, it made an excellent candidate for a full-on hot-rod. The bike was completely stripped-down and I started on the process of renewing all the rolling chassis components and rebuilding the motor over a period of 22 months. The end result is an absolute riot on the race track – really sharp handling as would be expected with a platform as short as the DB1, but with excellent stability. With 93hp and 63ftlbs of torque, the little bike goes like a scalded cat. Given that the Montjuich cams are being used, I would have expected a more peaky delivery, but the Meyers Performance 790 kit beefed-up the bottom end significantly. As you can see by the dyno chart in the pics, peak torque is at 6,500rpm and there’s usable stuff as low as 5,500.
I’ve ridden the bike at the Ducati Owners Club events at Mosport in July 2013 and May 2014 as well as at NHIS in October 2013 - and have been amazed at how well the whole package worked at speed. The DB1 Is surprisingly comfortable and easy to ride fast – and absolutely gorgeous sounding. My log shows 6 hours of riding time on the motor and I just completed a full post-track day service.

There are a few surface cracks developing in the bodywork that are most visible in the hi-rez pics (it’s inevitable; the bodywork is paper-thin except in the main support area between the four mounting studs).
This is a fully-sorted track bike that’s ready to go. Add gas, tickle the carbs, push the starter button and have at it!
This is a rare and unique machine. Consider that a standard DB1 in decent shape will fetch north of $19k: add 30 reliable HP, knock almost 60lbs off the curb weight, upgrade the wheels, suspension & brakes and you get a sense for what it would cost to build this machine. Reserve has been set accordingly.

A proverb that comes from an ancient Latin proverb says “semel in anno licet insanire”, or translated “once a year it is permissible to go mad”…! The carnival celebration has ancient origins, dating back to the period of pagan religion, from the Saturnalia of ancient Rome and also from the Dionysian festivals of the classical period of ancient Greece, and the disguise itself dates back to the times of Apuleius and the Egyptian goddess Isis, during which there were numerous masked groups, a custom that was imported into the Roman Empire. I present here a series of photographs, taken during the carnival in Taormina (taken on Sunday and Tuesday), with posed or caught portraits, people belonging to masked groups combined with the allegorical floats, or people masked on their own, all having in common the desire, the wish to have fun, or rather, as the ancient Latin saying goes, with the desire all to … “go mad”, at least… (once a year…!).

La festa del carnevale ha origini antiche, risale al periodo della religione pagana, dai Saturnali della Roma antica ed anche dalle feste dionisiache del periodo classico dell’antica Grecia, e lo stesso travestimento risale ai tempi di Apuleio e della dea egizia Iside, durante la quale erano presenti numerosi gruppi mascherati, usanza questa che venne importata nell’Impero Romano. Presento qui una serie di fotografie, realizzate durante il carnevale a Taormina (realizzate la domenica ed il martedì), con ritratti posati o colti al volo, persone appartenenti a gruppi mascherati abbinati ai carri allegorici, oppure persone mascherate per proprio conto, aventi tutti in comune la voglia, il desiderio di divertirsi, anzi, come recita l’antico detto latino, col desiderio tutti di …“impazzire”, almeno…(una volta l’anno…!).

The Astrosurfer: an atomic-powered intergalactic sports car, accompanied by the hit new space rock band The Highway Stars! This epic futuristic vehicle is detailed and articulated with wheels, rubber tires, hinged doors, reclining seats, and with access to the car’s trunk. On the hood of the car is a metallic minifigure hood ornament, and underneath is a detailed engine. In the rear of the car are two folding jet engines, a set of tailpipes, a spoiler, and an Octan bumper sticker.
Background: this project was initially conceived back in fall 2015, during my long, imaginative train of thought. In late November of 2015, I took some photos of my Futuron minifigs in front of Christmas lights for an artistic bokeh effect. This led me to come up with the idea of taking a group shot of a few spacemen hanging out as friends, accompanied by lyrics from the Ramones song “I Just Want to Have Something to Do.” This soon evolved into the idea of making each of the spacemen as musicians in a fictional band, that was inspired by the music video for the aforementioned song — which starts off with the Ramones playing the song in the back of a car. With this concept in mind, in early December I took a photo of some Futuron minifigs playing instruments in front of Christmas lights. Upon releasing this photo, I was then struck with another bolt of inspiration while watching the music video for Monster Magnet’s “Negasonic Teenage Warhead“: towards the end of the video, the band takes off in a purple classic Buick and flies through space! This idea hit me, and that night I had a dream to build a futuristic space sports car being driven by a rock band — essentially an amalgamation of those videos by the Ramones and Monster Magnet, along with my previous LEGO space photography!
Production for this creation began immediately after Christmas 2015, as I was preoccupied in December with production of my LEGO Nutcrackers and electronic Mega Man sprite. The bulk of this model was completed in the middle of January, but unfortunately I ran into one tiny (yet major) obstacle: I wanted a Classic Space symbol flag for the car’s antenna, however the Collectible Minifigure that contained this particular part wasn’t available in the United States yet. It wasn’t until early February that these figures were available (scarcely) at my local Toys ‘Я’ Us in Whitestone. I felt up all of the packages, and managed to snag the very last astronaut, thus obtaining that seemingly-insignificant flag for the antenna!
The five astronauts are made from authentic Classic Space minifig bodies, hence the noticeable play wear in their insignia. I did however deviate by giving them helmets with color-coordinated visors, as well as contemporary faces. The instruments were from other Collectible Minifigure sets, with the exception of the drum kit. For the car’s design, I initially wanted to build an accurate replica of a 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air or perhaps a Cadillac Eldorado — but instead, I opted to make an original design of an arbitrary concept. The two-tone color scheme wasn’t intentional: I wanted to make the car solid pink, but had to instead make use with available pieces in the pink/purple color family.

Earlier today while shooting Derek up in the Tenderloin District, I ran into Frida. Frida asked if she could sit for a portrait as well and I told her more about my $2 Portrait Project and she said ok.
Frida was born and raised in San Francisco. I asked Frida if she had any kids and she told me she did. She said she had 11 of them. The oldest one was 26 she said and the youngest was 6. She also said she had 10 grandkids.
Frida told me that one of her sons had just almost been killed last month but that God saved him. She said that he was shot in a case of mistaken identity by someone when he was coming out of his house. Thank God he saved him for us she said. I asked Frida if she saw her children a lot and she smiled back and said every day.
Frida told me that she had her 11 different children with 3 different men. Two were Puerto Rican, she added. Frida told me that all three of the men were dead now.
Frida and I talked a bit about her being out on the street. She told me that she had had an alcohol problem but that she was over it now and better. She told me that it was hard work being out on the street. She said that a lot of people will just rush right past her saying "get a job." She said what they didn't understand was that this *was* her job. That asking people for money is a lot of hard work. Especially for a woman she added. "All the time men are coming up to me and saying 'Hey Baby,'" she told me.
I told Frida that I had four kids and she smiled and asked if they were all with the same woman. I told her they were and she laughed and said, oh well, not me.
Frida was a friendly woman who smiled a lot. She seemed very happy with her life and very proud of her children.
Fragment of my belowed grand-father's library right before I started to dismantle it. The painting over the door represents Godzilla burning Warsaw's Royal Castle with atomic breath. My Grand Father was grand admirer of Warsaw, connoisseur of city's history and first Homo Varsoviensis. At the same time demonology and bestiaries stayed firmly between his multiple interest. He used to go to cinema to watch Godzilla movies with me when I was kid. The painting was one of my Xmas gifs to him in the early 90's. I bought the "old town" landscape (probably painted out of postcard) at Kolo flea market and painted Godzilla over it. It hung in his workshop during more than two decades :) Now in Pawel Polit collection.

Juan A. Gaitán appointed curator of the 8th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art
KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin is delighted to announce the appointment of Juan A. Gaitán as curator of the 8th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art. The 8th Berlin Biennale will take place in spring 2014.
Juan A. Gaitán (Canada/Colombia) is an independent writer and curator, currently based in Mexico City and Berlin. He is trained as an artist and art historian at University of British Columbia and Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver (Canada). Between January 2009 and December 2011, he was curator at Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam (The Netherlands), and between September 2011 and June 2012 adjunct professor in the Curatorial Practice Program at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco (USA). During the 2006 – 2008 period, he was on the Board of Directors of the Western Front Society, and worked as external curator at the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery in Vancouver. His writings have been published in several journals, including Afterall, The Exhibitionist, Fillip, and Mousse. His most recent exhibition, Material Information, spans three venues in Bergen (Norway), and looks for a renewed critical approach to the contemporary global distribution of labor from the perspective of arts and crafts. He is presently member of the acquisitions committee at FRAC Nord-Pas de Calais in Dunquerke (France).
The Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art is since its fourth edition one of the institutions supported by the German Federal Cultural Foundation as „outstanding cultural event“. The support of 2.5 Million Euros per edition ensures planning stability, enabling the organizers to address issues of content in an experimental way.
Since the first edition in 1998, the Berlin Biennale has become a major international event for contemporary art. Located in the midst of Berlin’s vibrant cultural scene in the fast-changing capital of Germany, the Berlin Biennale has received an enthusiastic response from the audience as an experimental, forward-looking and contextual show. The previous seven editions of the Berlin Biennale explored a variety of exhibition formats and involved diverse curatorial agendas.

The 143,404 square metres satellite building accommodates international flights departing and arriving at KLIA. Passengers have to travel to the satellite building via the Aerotrain. There is a wide array of duty-free shops and prestige brand boutiques in the satellite building. This includes international brands such as Burberry, Harrods, Montblanc, Salvatore Ferragamo and Mango. Among all international labels available within the terminal, some boutiques such as Harrods are only available in the airport. A number of restaurants and international airlines' lounges are available as well as an Airside Transit Hotel.
Within the terminal, wireless internet (Wifi) is provided free of charge. The terminal also has prayer rooms, showers and massage service. Various lounge areas are provided, some including children's play areas and movie lounge, broadcasting movie and sport channels. The terminal also features a natural rainforest in the middle of the terminal, exhibiting the Malaysian forests. The gates in Satellite Terminal A have the prefix C. Tuesday 13 August 2013 - Day 25 - Llulluch'apampa / Llulluchapampa (3,650m) - Abra de Huarmiwanusca / Warmiwañusca / Dead Woman's Pass (4,200m) - Pacaymayo Alto campsite (3,595m) - Runkurakay / Runccuracay (3,760 m) - Runkuraqay / Runccuracay Pass (3,985m) - Chaquiqocha (3,576m) - Phuyupatamarka / Phuyupatamarca (3,650m)
Day 3 on the Camino Inka features the (in)famous Abra de Huarmiwanusca / Warmiwañusca (4,200 m / 13,780 ft) aka Dead Woman's Pass - the highest point of the trek. The condition of the trail and our Huayhuash acclimatisation made the 550 m ascent from the Llulluch'apampa / Llulluchapampa campsite easy going.
Great views from the pass, both back down the valley we'd ascended and also ahead into the Pacaymayo valley, which featured a LOT of stone steps..... These were to prove hard going on the knees as we dropped 800 m to the Pacaymayo Alto campsite (3,595 m). After coffee and an early sandwich at the Pacaymayo checkpoint it was time to start climbing again, with the small circular Inca tambo (inn) at Runkurakay / Runccuracay (3,760 m) providing a beacon to aim for, and then more up to reach the Runkuraqay / Runccuracay Pass (3,985 m) by which time the views were a little less good, as cloud clung to the peaks of the Vilcabamba range.
According to the trip notes the post-Runkuraqay / Runccuracay Pass section of the path is "paved with the original Inca stones" - my main memory is of our first Inca tunnel, yet more steps, colourful flowers and - in time - the Inca ruins at Sayaqmarka / Sayacmarca (3,625m) "the place with a dominant view", which we didn't visit. Not long after Sayaqmarka / Sayacmarca the path entered beautiful bamboo forests. Very zen.
A leisurely lunch at Chaquiqocha (3,576m) looking out over the Aobamba Valley, and then onwards through forests, Inca tunnels and - eventually - our final campsite, Phuyupatamarka / Phuyupatamarca (3,650m). En route, a few flashes of bright green as packs of parakeets wooshed by, beautiful flowers and a stunning section of colourful moss covering the cliffside. The clouds gathered too.
The aptly named 'Town in the Clouds' camp proved to be packed, understandably so once we saw the views further south, not just the Inca ruins just below the campsite, but ridge upon forested ridge, snow sprinkled to our east, dramatic sunlight streaked clouds, rain and rainbows, and the first mobile phone signal since Ollantaytambo (probably - I didn't have my phone with me) courtesy of Aguas Calientes nestling in the Urubamba Valley 1,610 m (1 vertical mile) below.
All in all the best day of the trek by some margin. According to my calculations we climbed (and descended) over 1,000m / 3280 ft over the course of the day despite there being no net change in altitude.

The sixth week of camp has come to an end and we have 2 weeks left! The CITs took a three day trip to the Poconos! Several groups took off campus trips to BOUNCE U and Dorney Park! The week ended with "Puttin on the Hits" performed by our Willows and Middle Camp groups and a Carnival! By the pictures you can tell we all had so much fun!

My sister needed a kid-sized potting bench for her classroom, so I mad this Classroom Pallet Potting Bench for her using pieces from two pallets.
Classroom Pallet Potting Bench:
I found two pallets and broke them down to get the pieces I needed for this child's potting bench. Additionally, I ordered some liquid pigments online that I mixed with polyurethane for the finishes you see. I finished the piece off by applying a plain finish for the top and bottom shelf and a blue metallic one for the other pieces.
Classroom Pallet Potting Bench Materials Needed:
Copper pipe piece I had found in a dumpster at a nearby construction site.
Wheels I had leftover from something many years ago.
One left-over curtain rod piece that I installed at one end and bolted it in really tightly.
The penny was something I decided to add at the very end to give the piece something interesting to the front of it that her kids may like. I bored into the wood just a tad with a spade bit and then glued in the penny.
Two long bolts to hold the handle to the base (about 6" in length).

Descripción
Es un pájaro pequeño, mide entre 12 y 13,5 cm de largo. La especie presenta dimorfismo sexual. El macho en época de cría es principalmente negro en sus partes superiores y blanco en las inferiores. En otoño e invierno su plumaje es más parecido al de la hembra, con el dorso y la cabeza pardas y las alas negras. En ámbos plumajes el macho presenta una mancha blanca en la frente, justo encima del pico. La hembra es blanca por debajo, y de color pardo por encima, excepto las alas que son negruzcas. En ámbos sexos las las tienen una mancha blanca en las terciarias siendo de mayor tamaño en los machos. El pico es negro, alargado, fino y puntiagudo.
Su reclamo es un "pik" corto, metálico y lo repite incansablemente.
Distribución y hábitat
Cría por la mayor parte de Europa y del oeste de Asia. En invierno migra al oeste de África.
Son aves forestales, sobre todo de bosques de frondosas, también en parques con árboles maduros.

The seventh week of camp has ended and we have just one more week left of the 2013 camp season! We had a lot going on at camp this week! Our CITs had a wonderful trip to the shore! Back home at camp, campers participated in WGDC famous "Puttin on the Hits" show. Campers also competed in color wars, attended the "All camp cookout" and dance party, and a few groups went bowling. I admit this is a blatant remix of this one. The idea was to show the old and feeble ancient camcorder technology (1994 A.C.) facing its descendant (2010 A.C.) that has manifold the resolution at a significant lower size (and price). If the development goes on like this, technology has completely vanished into subatomic space in 30 years (I hope I am not right...)
What it took: Our IKEA cupboard was the location once again. I fired the 580 EX II with 1/32 into the ceiling above the scene (standing 50 cm in front of the subjects). Actually this is a composite of two shots as the focus area was so narrow that I did not get the both camcorders in the excactly same focus plane otherwise. Other than that just a conversion into bw with subsequent recovering of selected colors.

Je ne minore pas le rôle de Google Maps, révolution cartographique sans précédent et sans égale, qui aura réalisé nos fantasmes d’Aleph borgesien — l’idée d’un point d’où le monde serait visible en totalité — parachevé Mercator et permis d’explorer des parties du globe inconnues de Cook, Bougainville et Amundsen. Je n’oublie pas non plus cet exercice de cartographie au collège, qui nous avait démontré que nous étions à 3 cartes IGN de la capitale, et que le tissu urbain était de plus en plus serré à mesure que nous avancions vers le nord. Mais Plan possédait une fonctionnalité inédite, le Flyover, technologie à l’origine destinée aux pilotes de chasse, et qui fournissait des rendus 3D spectaculaire des bâtiments survolés — ainsi que des arbres et des déclivités du sol.
On quittait enfin les champs asphyxiants de la photographie aérienne pour des vues à l’oblique des villes visitées : après un siècle d’écrasement — la photographie aérienne est étroitement contemporaine du bombardement aérien — les villes reprenaient enfin de la vigueur et remontaient vers le ciel. J’avais d’ailleurs effectué moi-même une manœuvre de redressement similaire le jour où j’étais parti, à pied depuis Paris, visiter à Nanterre une exposition sur la photographie aérienne. J’étais à la quête des premières vues de Paris qu’avait prises Nadar depuis un ballon captif. À défaut de ces images, définitivement manquantes, j’avais parcouru, après la Grande Arche, les derniers kilomètres de la Voie Royale, cette prodigieuse perspective historique partie du Louvre — rare exemple de frise chronologique implémentée dans une structure urbanistique.
J’avais en réalité un peu dévié de la ligne droite pour aller voir les tours Nuages d’Emile Aillaud, le Facteur Cheval du modernisme, dont je connaissais déjà les autres chefs d’œuvres d'architecture naïve, les nouilles chinoises de Grigny et le spaghetti de Pantin.
C’était précisément l’usage que j’avais fait de l’application Plans : j’étais parti à la recherche de tous les groupements de tour qu’elle m’avait permis d’identifier, sur mon iPad. Je les faisais tourner avec deux doigts, comme un éclaireur qui marcherait autour d’un donjon, avant de les immortaliser, sous leur plus bel angle, par une capture d’écran.Un éclaireur autour d’un donjon : c’était exactement cela, qui m’avait fasciné. Les guerres territoriales entre Les Tarterêts de Corbeil et les Pyramides d’Evry avaient marqué mon enfance. La notion de cité, telle qu’elle avait été définie, à partir des années 80, dans le second âge des grands ensembles, l’âge du déclin, avait conservé un cachet médiéval. Ici, vivaient guetteurs et trafiquants, condottieres à la tête d’une écurie de go-fast et entretenant des chenils remplis de mâtins rares et dangereux. Ici, l’État central ne remplissait plus ses tâches régaliennes, ici la modernité laïque était entrée en crise. Mais ce que j’avais découvert, en collectionnant ces captures d’écran, c’était à quel point l’urbanisme de la banlieue parisienne était, strictement, d’obédience médiévale. On était passé, d’un seul mouvement et sans même s’en rendre compte de Château-Gaillard à la Cité 4000, du Donjon de Vincennes aux tours de Sarcelles, du château de Gisors aux choux fleurs de Créteil.J’ai même retrouvé la colonne détruite du désert de Retz dans le babylonien château d’eau de Noisiel.
Des hauteurs de Rosny à celle de Chanteloup, du plateau de Clichy à la dalle d’Argenteuil, on avait bizarrement livré des pastiches inconscients de la grande architecture militaire médiévales : les environs de Paris s’étaient retrouvés à nouveau fortifiés, la vieille tour de Montlhéry n’était plus solitaire, et même les immeubles de briques rouges qui avaient succédé à l’enceinte de Thiers évoquaient des murailles.
Et ce que j’avais initialement pris pour des anomalies, des accidents malheureux du post-modernisme, les grand ensembles voûtés et cannelés de Ricardo Boffil, étaient peut-être ce qui exprimait le mieux tout cela — ou du moins qui clôturaient avec le génie le plus clair cet âge des grands ensembles.
Car c’était cela, ces Carcassonnes, ces Acropoles, ces Atlandides qui surnageaient avec le plus de conviction au milieu des captures d’écrans de ruines médiévales qui s’accumulaient sur mon bureau.
Si décriées, dès leur construction, pour leur kitch intolérable ces mégastructures me sont soudain apparues comme absolument nécessaires.
Si les Villes Nouvelles n’ont jamais existé, et persisteront dans la mémoire des hommes, elles le doivent à ces rêveries bizarres et grandioses, à ces hybridations impossibles entre les cités idéales de Ledoux et les utopies corbuséennes.
L’Aqueduc de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, les Espaces d’Abraxas à Marne-la-Vallée, les Colonnes de Saint-Christophe à Cergy-Pontoise sont les plus belles ruines du Grand Paris.

C’est pour ces raisons que, à partir de 1954, le Ministre à la Reconstruction et au Logement évalue le besoin en logements à 2.000.660, devenant ainsi une priorité nationale. Quelques années plus tard à l’appel de l’Abbé Pierre, le journaliste Gilbert Mathieu, en avril 1957 publiait dans le quotidien Le Monde une série d’articles sur la situation dramatique du logement : Logement, notre honte et dénonçant le nombre réduit de logements et leur impitoyable état. Robert Doisneau, Banlieue après-guerre, 1943-1949 /Le mandat se veut triple : reconstruire le parc immobilier détruit durant les bombardements essentiellement du printemps/été 1944, faire face à l’essor démographique et enfin résorber l’habitat insalubre notamment les bidonvilles et les cités de transit. Une ambition qui paraît, dès le début, très élevée, associée à l’industrialisation progressive de la nation entre autre celle du secteur de la construction (voir le vidéo de l’INA du 17 juillet 1957 intitulée La crise du logement, un problème national. Cela dit, l’effort pour l’État français était d’une ampleur jamais vue ailleurs. La double nécessité de construire davantage et vite, est en partie la cause de la forme architecturale excentrique qui constituera les Grands Ensembles dans les banlieues françaises. Cinq caractéristiques permettent de mieux comprendre ce terme : la rupture avec le tissu urbain ancien, un minimum de mille logements, une forme collective (tours, barres) de quatre jusqu’à vingt niveaux, la conception d’appartements aménagés et équipés et enfin une gestion destinée pour la plupart à des bailleurs de logement social.
Pour la banlieue parisienne leur localisation s’est opérée majoritairement dans la périphérie, tandis que dans les autres cas, plus de la moitié a été construite dans le centre ville, le plus souvent à la limite des anciens faubourgs.

C’est le triomphe de l’urbanisme fonctionnel et rationaliste cher à Le Corbusier. Entre 1958 et 1973, cent quatre-vingt-quinze Zones à Urbaniser en Priorité (ZUP) sont créées, comprenant deux millions de logements, essentiellement de type populaire en Habitations à Loyer Modéré (HLM), mais pas exclusivement, remplaçant ainsi les anciennes Habitations à Bon Marché (HBM) crées en 1894. Selon le décret du 27 mars 1954 qui en fixe les conditions d’attribution, les bénéficiaires de la législation n’ont pas changé, ce sont toujours des « personnes peu fortunées vivant principalement de leur salaire », selon la loi Strauss de 1906. En 1953, tous les HLM voient leur surface maximale se réduire, en passant de 71 à 65 mètres carrés pour un quatre pièces. L’accès au logement des familles modestes se fera donc au détriment de la qualité et quantité de l’espace habité pour des familles nombreuses. À ce propos, le sociologue Thierry Oblet a bien montré comment se sont articulées les pensées des architectes et des ingénieurs modernistes, avec leur souci planificateur d’un État interventionniste[8] grâce à l’hégémonie du béton, de la ligne droite et de la standardisation de la construction.
Les exemples de cette architecture restent nombreux : de la Cité de 4000 (pour 4000 logements) à la Courneuve en Seine-Saint-Denis (93) aux logements de 15 étages aux balcons pétales, appelés « Chou-fleur » à Créteil en Val-de Marne (94) dessinés au début des années 70 par l’architecte Gérard Grandval. De la Cité des nuages à Nanterre dans les Hauts-de-Seine (92) à la Grande borne construite entre 1967 et 1971 sur le territoire des communes de Grigny et Viry-Châtillon, dans l’Essonne (91) en passant par la Noé à Chanteloup-les-Vignes dans le département des Yvelines (78) scénario du célèbre film La Haine[9] de Kassovits.
Récemment, plusieurs expositions photographiques se sont
concentrées sur cette nouvelle figure de l’urbanisme fonctionnaliste français de l’après-guerre. Par exemple Toit&Moi, 100 ans de logement social (2012), Les Grands ensembles 1960-2010 (2012) produite par l’école supérieure d’arts & médias de Caen/Cherbourg, selon un projet du Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication. Enfin l’exposition Photographie à l’œuvre, (2011-2012) d’Henri Salesse, photographe du service de l’inventaire du Ministère de la Reconstruction et de l’Urbanisme et Voyage en périphérie (2012) de Cyrus Cornut.
Il s’agissait là non seulement d’un progrès matériel, mais aussi démocratique, donnant ainsi à chaque citoyen, la possibilité d’accéder à son petit appartement doté de tous les conforts de l’époque. La recherche d’économie et de rapidité dans la conduite des chantiers portent à l’utilisation du béton comme matériel privilégié et à des plans architecturaux aussi simples que possible avec la réalisation de logements standardisés, dont les barres et les tours deviennent les figures principales : Au mitan des années cinquante, apparurent d’étranges formes urbaines. Des immeubles d’habitation de plus en plus longs et de plus en plus hauts, assemblés en blocs qui ne s’intégraient pas aux villes existantes. Ces blocs s’en différenciaient ostensiblement et parfois comme systématiquement, s’en isolaient. Ils semblaient faire ville à part. Surtout ils ne ressemblaient pas à ce qu’on avait l’habitude d’appeler ville. Et leur architecture aussi, qui était tellement déroutante. On les a nommés » grands ensembles. Bref, entre 1946 et 1975 le parc immobilier français passe de 12,7 millions à 21 millions de logements. Environ 8 millions de ceux-ci sont neufs, construits entre 1953-1975 – dont la moitié sous forme de grands ensembles – et près de 80 % des logements grâce à une aide de l’État avec des crédits publics. Le nombre de logements sociaux passe de moins de 500.000 à près de 3 millions, dont 43 % en région parisienne, où la demande est la plus forte[11]. Ce qui témoigne d’un effort énorme. Alors que l’hiver 1954 est particulièrement rigoureux, l’abbé Pierre lance un appel en faveur des sans-logis et déshérités et organise des collectes de vêtements et de nourriture pour les plus démunis. Cela nous rappelle également que les inégalités sociales restaient particulièrement importantes à l’époque, malgré les débuts de la croissance économique, et que la crise du logement n’était pas encore complètement résolue. C’est l’urbaniste Marcel Rotival dans un numéro d’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui de juin 1935 (vol.1, n°6, juin 1935, p.57) qui propose pour la première fois cette terminologie pour désigner les Habitations à Bon Marché (HBM) et leur transformation en Habitations à Loyer Modéré (HLM), par la loi du 21 juillet 1951: « Nous espérons, un jour, sortir des villes comme Paris, non seulement par l’avenue des Champs Elysées, la seule réalisation de tenue sans laquelle Paris n’existerait pas, mais sortir par Belleville, par Charonne, par Bobigny, etc., et trouver harmonieusement disposés le long de larges autostrades, au milieu de grands espaces boisés, de parcs, de stades, de grandes cités claires, bien orientées, lumineusement éclairées par le soleil. » Largement reprise depuis les années 1950 dans le jargon administratif et public, elle apparaît pour la première fois dans un texte officiel qu’en 1973 avec la Circulaire Guichard, alors Ministre de l’Aménagement du territoire, de l’Equipement, du Logement et du tourisme. Celui-ci met un terme à la politique initiée après-guerre afin « d’empêcher la réalisation des formes d’urbanisation désignées généralement sous le nom de “grands ensembles”, peu conforme aux aspirations des habitants et sans justification économique sérieuse ». Paradoxalement, le terme de grands ensembles s’officialise donc au moment même où ils son mis en question. ZUP est un acronyme qui signifie Zone à Urbaniser en Priorité. Elles ont été créées par le décret N°58-1464 du 31 décembre 1958, afin de planifier et d’encadrer sur le territoire national, le développement urbain pour répondre à la carence de logements face à l’accroissement démographique et favoriser enfin la résorption de l’habitat insalubre. De estilo gótico-mudéjar fue fundada en el siglo XIII aunque sus restos mas antiguos son del siglo XIV, ha sido remodelada posteriormente en los siglos XVIII y XIX. Es sede de las Hermandades El Dulce Nombre y La Soledad.
Templo formado en su interior por planta de cinco naves con capilla mayor cuadrada y coro a los pies, separadas por pilares cuadrangulares sostenidos por arcos apuntados con cubiertas en forma de artesa, con tirantas en la nave central y colgadiza en las laterales. El presbiterio se cubre con bóveda de media naranja sobre pechinas, sin tambor, ni linterna.
La Torre-fachada, de estilo mudéjar,está situada a los pies de la iglesia y presenta arco ojival ciego con cuerpo de campanas y cruz de estilo barroco (1757). Se remata por chapitel ovalado con recubrimiento cerámico y jarrones del mismo material en los flancos. Junto a la torre se encuentra el retablo cerámico de "Ntra. Señora de la soledad".
La portada de la epístola es de estilo manierista realizada por Diego López Bueno y presenta vano adintelado con alfiz quebrado, rematado con frontón partido con escultura de San Lorenzo Mártir en su hornacina, y a los lados altos relieves con las armas del Santo y dos parrillas sobre fuego. Se encuentra flanqueada por cerámicas dedicadas a las animas, a Ntro. Padre Jesús del Gran Poder y a Maria Stma. del Dulce Nombre y por escultura del Cardenal Spinola.
La portada del evangelio presenta frontón curvo con pilastras a los lados en cuyo tímpano están la parrilla y la palma de San Lorenzo. A los lados tiene unos roelos decorados con mútilos coronados con floreros.
La sillería del coro es de estilo barroco obra de Juan Leonardo del siglo XVIII.
El retablo mayor está compuesto por banco, dos cuerpos, tres calles y ático y fue arquitectónicamente comenzado por Martínez Montañés (1632) y terminado por los hermanos Francisco y Felipe de Rivas (1652). Se encuentra presidido en el primer cuerpo por esculturas de "San Lorenzo recibiendo los tesoros de la Iglesia de manos del Papa Sixto II" y "San Lorenzo dando limosnas a los pobres", y en el segundo cuerpo "Flagelación del Santo y su Martirio en la parrilla. Sobre el ático imagen de "San Lorenzo, el "Crucificado" y "ángeles tenantes". Sagrario manifestador obra de Diego López Bueno (1625) en el primer cuerpo con pinturas de Francisco Pacheco. A ambos lados del retablo mayor se encuentran pintura realzada por Juan de Uceda "Cristo servido por los ángeles después de sufrir las tres tentaciones del diablo en el desierto" y pintura "Triunfo de la Eucaristía" de Francisco Pimentel.
Obras de interés:
Situada a los pies de la epístola se encuentra la capilla de la "Virgen de Rocamanor" fresco del siglo XIV de estilo gótico.
En la epístola se sitúa la capilla del "Dulce Nombre" presidida por las imágenes titulares "Nuestra Señora del Dulce Nombre" y "Nuestro Padre Jesús ante Anas", obras de Castillo Lastrucci (1624) ambas de estilo barroco.
Retablo de "Nuestra Señora del Carmen" obra del siglo XIV con lienzos de "Santo Domingo, San Francisco y los Santos Juanes".
El retablo de "San José con el Niño" es obra de Pimentel y el titular, de estilo barroco, de Cristóbal Ramos.
En la capilla sacramental, obra de Félix Romero (1699) se encuentra el retablo de "la Inmaculada Concepción", realizado por Paniagua(1703) y flanqueada por "San José" y "Santa Ana con la Virgen", y en el ático un "Niño Jesús". Adornan esta capilla los ángeles de Hita del Castillo.
El retablo de "la Virgen de Granada" y del "Crucificado", ambos de estilo barroco, son obra de Fernando Barahona (1682). Se encuentran presididos por esculturas de los titulares obras de Roque Balduque de estilo renacentista (1554).
Retablo del "Santo Cristo del Amparo", de estilo barroco, es obra de Fernando Barahona (1682) presidido por titular también barroco realizado por Dionisio Rivas.
Capilla de "Santa Ana". Escultura atribuida a Montés de Oca de estilo barroco situada en la capilla bautismal.
Capilla de la "Milagrosa" presidida por talla moderna de la titular y pintura mural del "Cristo de las fatigas" obra del siglo XVI.
Pintura de "La Sagrada Familia", de estilo renacentista, realizada por Villegas Marmolejo (1595) y se encuentra situada en el retablo del "Santo Rostro".

Wieso geht man bei Regen wandern... Ich hatte vergessen, wie es ist, wenn es regnet. Also, richtig regnet. Der Regen kam mit einer steifen Brise immer direkt von vorn... Der Wanderweg führt dicht an der Steilküste entlang, die Felsen erheben sich hier ca. 70 m aus dem Meer. Der Pfad ist schmal und nicht befestigt und es geht steil hinauf und tief hinab. Trotz wetterfester Jacken waren wir nach kurzer Zeit pitschnass...
