Been here a few times never happy due to the light and sky until today worth the £6 entrance fee as the gardens and flowers looked amazing.Think my job is done at this amazing location ;-)
An ancient site dating back to the 7th century was originally owned by the church but later acquired by the Button family in the 16th century. The name was changed to Dyffryn St. Thomas when the estate was sold to Thomas Pryce, who built the first building to be known as Dyffryn House. John Cory bought the estate in 1891 and built the present house two years later. He later commissioned Thomas Mawson to landscape the gardens to complement his magnificent house. After John Cory's death in 1910, his third son, Reginald, a keen horticulturalist and leading figure in the RHS, developed the gardens and arboretum notably through his joint sponsorship of several plant hunting expeditions. The most remarkable of the results of this is the Paper Bark Maple, Acer griseum, which was grown from seed brought back from China by Ernest Wilson.
After Reginald Cory's death in 1934, the estate went to his daughter Florence who died just two years later. It was then bought by Sir Cennydd Traherne who leased it in 1939 to Glamorgan County Council on a 999 year lease. The Grade I listed gardens are being restored in two phases with grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The first phase is for £3.25 million and the second for £2.9 million.

Anyone who shoots birds will know how difficult it is to get a good shot of a Red Bellied Woodpecker. They rarely stay still and when you find them they like to hope around to the other side of the tree. The worse is the lightning condition where these woodpeckers are usually found which is mostly shady low light areas. Needless to say I have never gotten a good clean Red Bellied Woodpecker shot until my recent trip to the Everglades National Park. I found this guy in all the right conditions to pull off my sharpest Red Bellied Woodpecker shot to date.

USAG-Humphreys Youth Sports provides a variety of sports programs for age groups 4-18 to include Baseball, Soccer, Swimming and Basketball. A variety of minor sport activities are also implemented throughout the year.
USAG-Humphreys participates in a league with Osan Air Base, USAG-Daegu, and USAG-Yongsan. Throughout the regular season, the older age groups travel occasionally to other installations to compete in league and postseason events.
USAG-Humphreys Youth Teams practice and play at Independence park which is located by the USAG Humphreys main gate.
Volunteer coaches are always needed! A background check is required to become a volunteer and also a certification course is required before anyone is allowed to coach with CYS Services Youth Sports.

Coaching applications can be found at the Parent Central Services (PCS), currently located at the Child Development center Bldg 693 or the Youth Sports Office located in the Youth Sports Annex Gym, Bldg 111. We arrived at Innisfree as soon as it opened at 10AM one mid-August morning when the entire Northeastern US was in the middle of a record heatwave. Despite the heat and humidity, we were able to make a quick 1.5 mile circle on the path around the deep glacial lake at the heart of this 150 acre garden before we wilted and had to return to our air conditioned car. The harsh mid-day light made photography challenging, as you can see. We learned that Innisfree, said by some to be one of the world's Ten Great Gardens, opens at sunrise on three occasions each year, and we are already planning another trip to the Hudson River Valley in the future when we hope we can see and photograph this amazing place under better conditions.

"In the late 1920s, Walter Beck and his wife, avid gardener and heiress Marion Burt Beck, began work on Innisfree, their country residence in Millbrook, New York. Walter Beck’s fascination with Asian art influenced his painting, the collecting he and his wife pursued, and their ideas on garden design. In the 1930s, Beck discovered the work of 8th-century Chinese poet, painter and garden maker Wang Wei. Studying scroll paintings of his famed garden, the Wangchuan Villa, Beck observed that Wang created carefully defined, inwardly focused gardens and garden vignettes within a larger, naturalistic landscape. Wang’s place-making technique — christened “cup gardens,” by Beck — influenced centuries of Chinese and Japanese garden design. It is also the principal design motif in the Innisfree landscape. Like his Chinese predecessor, Beck created three-dimensional pictures in the garden, incorporating both rocks from the site and horticultural advice from his wife. Unlike Wang Wei, or perhaps more familiar figures like Lawrence Johnston, who used his cup-like rooms at Hidcote in England to draw one through a sequence of events and create an overall sense of place, Beck focused more on individual compositions. Relating these to each other and to the landscape as a whole was the genius of Lester Collins."
The genius of this place lies not so much in the ideas which the designers formulated for the cup gardens, many of which are disarmingly simple, but in the way they have been maintained over the years. Essentially, everything is allowed to settle into the prevailing spirit of the place; if it does not, it is removed. It is this sensitivity, care and attention to the qualities of landscape, natural and made, that make Innisfree such a memorable success.

The Conga is the most iconic and widespread artistic expression in Santiago de Cuba during Carnival. It blends Afro-Cuban rhythms with European and Asian influences, creating a vibrant cultural fusion. The essential instruments of the Conga include drums, bells, and the distinctive Chinese cornet, which adds a unique sound. As musicians march through the streets playing with energy, hundreds of people join the procession, dancing and singing popular refrains that echo through the celebration. In Santiago de Cuba, several Conga comparsas stand out, including Paso Franco, San Agustín, San Pedrito, and, most notably, Los Hoyos, the most famous and oldest, founded in July 1902.

Title "Artsy Scrappy Mama" by Julie Ann Shahin
I decided my self-portrait would be a paper mache art doll because I didn't want to buy something, although I did look in a few stores. I wanted to actually make something and get my hands dirty, yet actually I wore "kitchen gloves" for the messy part! The wire mesh for the dress is no accident, I want you to see through it, to see the body has vintage sewing pattern tissue paper on it. I also wanted to attach items to the dress so this wire worked great, it is called "WireForm by Paragon" or "WireMesh by Paragon" depending on whether you want copper, brass, or aluminum diamond. Pam asked me what her name is, and I decided to name her "Artsy Scrappy Mama" because I wanted to show you a self-portrait of me in my studio, which is painted yellow, where I am happy and thriving.
The items on her dress include a cupcake charm (!!!), a handmade rose (tutorial coming soon), a deer brad because I see deer in my neighborhood all the time, a heart brad, an imagine charm for creativity and a nod to John Lennon, and a pin I saved from a trip to Toronto.
My technique: I wanted to use things that were on hand for paper mache. Make note of everything I recycled!
* The doll body was constructed from a toilet paper roll for the torso,
* and a wad of newspaper rolled into a ball for the head,
* taped together with masking tape.
* I used straws for the arms and legs,
* I punched a hole into the body for the legs and arms with my Crop-a-Dile
* Instead of using newspaper for paper mache, I used vintage music paper, vintage sewing patterns, and vintage book pages
* I made a 1-part flour to 1-part water mixture for the paper mache glue, and let each layer dry overnight
* The eyes and mouth were made on Claudine Hellmuth’s Sticky Back Canvas, cut out and applied
* The background behind her is also paper mache, made on a cardboard mailer. The newspaper article is about me, written several years ago, an interview I gave on hybrid scrapbooking when I was Creative Editor of Scrapbook Dimensions Magazine
* For her hair, I took 10 thin strips of fabric, tied a smaller strip of fabric around them at the top, then adhered one end at the crown of her head. I repeated this about 15 times. Then I tied various floral charms and beads to her hair.

NHỮNG ĐỊA DANH DU LỊCH HẤP DẪN TẠI ĐÀ LẠT
1. Khám phá những thung lũng lãng mạn
- Thung lũng Tình Yêu - nơi hò hẹn
Thung lũng tình yêu là một trong những địa danh thơ mộng nhất tại Đà Lạt, cách trung tâm thành phố khoảng 6 km. Trong thung lũng có đập Đa Thiện, nơi quy tụ những dòng suối nhỏ chảy từ đồi núi cao, thành một hồ nước trong vắt uốn quanh thung lũng rợp bóng thông xanh. Trước kia, người Pháp gọi là Vallée d'Amour (Thung lũng tình yêu) sau đó, thung lũng này được đổi tên thành Thung lũng Hòa Bình và đến năm 1953 thì tên gọi thung lũng Tình Yêu được giữ lại cho tới ngày nay.
Thung lũng Tình Yêu thơ mộng và cuốn hút bởi độ sâu và đồi thông xanh ngát bao quanh. Năm 1972, đập ngăn nước được xây dựng vắt ngang qua thung lũng tạo thành hồ Đa Thiện, làm tăng thêm sức quyến rũ cho cảnh quan nơi đây.
Đến đây, du khách có thể đi dọc theo những lối mòn, leo những bậc thang để ngắm toàn cảnh thung lũng hoặc đi qua những cổng hoa với màu sắc rực rỡ để lên đồi Vọng Cảnh. Từ trên đồi Vọng Cảnh, du khách sẽ thấy hình ảnh thung lũng Tình Yêu hiện ra như một bức tranh vô cùng thơ mộng.
- Thung lũng Vàng - điểm đến lý tưởng
Từ trung tâm thành phố Đà Lạt mất khoảng 15 phút đi xe ô tô, du khách sẽ đến khu du lịch thung lũng Vàng. Đây là một trong những điểm du lịch sinh thái lãng mạn ở Đà Lạt, được sự ưu đãi đặc biệt của thiên nhiên với rừng thông bạt ngàn và mênh mông đồi cỏ. Đứng trên triền dốc nhìn xuống một vùng nước tĩnh lặng, mênh mông bát ngát, hàng thông rũ bóng xuống mặt hồ đẹp như một bức tranh thủy mặc.
2. Chinh phục Lang Biang – nóc nhà của Đà Lạt
Lang Biang với chiều cao 2.167 mét, là một ngọn núi hấp dẫn với những ai muốn thám hiểm, chinh phục độ cao. Nằm trong lòng thung lũng Lâm Viên, nơi đây rất thích hợp cho những chuyến tham quan, dã ngoại, cắm trại qua đêm.
Lang Biang còn được ví như "nóc nhà" nóc nhà của Đà Lạt, của cao nguyên Lâm Viên, là chốn lý tưởng để du khách tận hưởng những cảm xúc lạ, đáp ứng khát khao chinh phục, khám phá những điều bất ngờ của du khách.
Chinh phục đỉnh Lang Biang du khách còn được nghe một truyền thuyết về tình yêu say đắm của chàng Lang và nàng Bian huyền thoại.
3. Khám phá sự bí ẩn của những dòng thác
- Thác Cam Ly:
Thác Cam Ly nằm trên dòng suối Cẩm Lệ, cách trung tâm của thành phố Đà Lạt hơn 2km về hướng tây. Ngọn thác hùng vĩ cùng với đồi thông bao quanh đã tạo nên một thắng cảnh khó quên trong lòng du khách khi tới Đà Lạt.
- Thác Datanla
Từ quốc lộ 20 rẽ xuống dốc khoảng 300m, bạn sẽ gặp một thung lũng nhỏ, trong thung lũng có dòng thác Datanla với cảnh trí đầy hấp dẫn và đậm nét hoang sơ.
Nằm giữa đèo Prenn, thác Datanla không hùng vĩ, ồn ào như nhiều dòng thác khác ở Đà Lạt nhưng lại có sức cuốn hút đặc biệt đối với những du khách thích mạo hiểm phiêu lưu.
Datanla là tên gọi do các từ K’Ho ghép lại: “Đà –Tàm - N’ha” có ý nghĩa là “nước dưới lá”. Dòng nước của thác đổ xuống từ ghềnh cao 20m, len lỏi qua nhiều tầng của các khe đá rồi lẫn khuất giữa rừng sâu tạo thành một dòng suối.
Tại chân thác có những tảng đá nhẵn bóng thật đẹp, tương truyền rằng xưa kia đây là nơi các tiên nữ thường ghé xuống tắm suối và nô đùa tạo nên dòng Suối Tiên. Đến thăm dòng thác hung vỹ này, du khách sẽ gặp một hẻm vực sâu hun hút được gọi là vực Tử Thần. Đây là nơi có thể đáp ứng đam mê khám phá và chinh phục của các bạn trẻ.
- Thác Prenn
Thác Prenn nằm ở chân đèo Prenn cách trung tâm Đà Lạt khoảng 10 km, nằm ven quốc lộ 20. Thác Prenn mang một vẻ êm dịu và duyên dáng, có những dòng nước đổ nhè nhẹ từ độ cao 10m xuống một hồ nước nhỏ, được bao bọc bởi rừng thông xanh ngát.
Để vào thác, du khách sẽ được qua một chiếc cầu ngắn bắc ngang dòng suối đã được kè chắn bằng bêtông. Con đường xuống thác với những bậc đá ôm theo sườn đồi được bố trí đẹp mắt.
- Thác Pongour
Thác Pongour hay còn gọi là thác Bảy tầng nằm tại huyện Đức Trọng, tỉnh Lâm Đồng, cách Đà Lạt 50 km.
Thác này có dòng nước đổ từ độ cao gần 40 m, trải rộng hơn 100m. Bạn có thể tham quan sự huyền ảo của dòng thác qua hệ thống bậc thang bảy tầng. Bao quanh thác Pongour là khu rừng nguyên sinh có diện tích khoảng 2,5 ha với hệ thống động thực vật đa dạng và phong phú.
4. Đắm chìm vào muôn sắc hoa của công Viên hoa Đà Lạt
Công viên hoa Đà Lạt nằm quanh bờ phía Bắc của hồ Xuân Hương, trên thung lũng của Đồi Cù. Diện tích của công viên hoa rộng tới 7000 m², với cách bố trí ấn tượng với sự góp mặt của muôn vàn loài hoa.
Các loại hoa và cây cảnh ở đây đều được chăm sóc, cắt tỉa chu đáo. Thăm vườn hoa, quý khách sẽ “say” bởi cách bố trí những chậu hoa từ nhỏ đến lớn với những hình thù khác nhau cực bắt mắt.
Các festival hoa tổ chức hằng năm ở Đà Lạt đều thu hút lượng lớn du khách gần xa về với thành phố. Đồng thời đây cũng là dịp nhiều nhà đầu tư trong nước và nước ngoài chung tay phát triển hoa Đà Lạt trở thành thương hiệu và hình thành các trung tâm sản xuất, xuất khẩu hoa của cả nước và khu vực Đông Nam Á.

Se trata de una de las infecciones urinarias más comunes y muchas personas no se tratan como corresponde. Esta afección en la vejiga suele suceder en los meses más fríos del año y sobre todo afectar a las mujeres. A su vez las embarazadas, los diabéticos y el uso de ciertos productos de higiene pueden llevar a provocar esta afección.
Los síntomas característicos de la cistitis son dolor al orinar y aumento en las micciones. También puede presentar dolor en el abdomen, fiebre, orina con sangre o de color oscuro. En la mayoría de los casos este problema está ocasionado por bacterias que “viajan” por la uretra y se almacenan en la vejiga. En este artículo te contamos cuáles son los mejores remedios para la cistitis.
Remedios naturales para tratar la cistitis
Gracias a las infusiones, los jugos y ciertas comidas podemos reducir los síntomas de la cistitis y sobre todo eliminar las bacterias que la producen. Presta mucha atención:
Realiza un jugo con ½ taza de rabanitos y un poco de sal. Consume tres veces al día.
El zumo de arándanos es el mejor aliado a la hora de reducir las infecciones en la vejiga. Bebe al menos un vaso por día para destruir las bacterias que se “pegan” al tracto urinario.
Ya que hablamos de los arándanos, los podemos combinar con otras frutas y verduras para crear un jugo riquísimo, refrescante y sobre todo eficaz para la cistitis. Lleva 2 tazas de arándanos, 1 taza de zumo de granada, 1 taza de papaya cortada en cubitos, 1 taza de melón en cubitos, ¼ taza de zumo de limón y 1 cucharada de jengibre rallado. Pon todo en la licuadora y mezcla bien. Bebe a lo largo del día.
La espinaca es una verdura con una buena cantidad de propiedades que incluyen tratar la cistitis. Prepara un licuado con una taza de esta verdura y un poco de agua. También puedes agregar unas rebanadas de coco natural.
Si quieres consumir un té para reducir la cistitis te recomendamos la consuelda. Otra opción es la “barba” o “pelos” de choclo. En el primer caso la dosis es de una cucharada por taza de agua y en el segundo las sedas de un maíz hervidas con 3 tazas de agua.
Prepara y consume en ayunas una infusión de perejil (no permitido para embarazadas), ya que esta hierba aromática limpia los riñones y la vejiga. En una taza de agua hirviendo pon dos cucharadas de perejil picado y deja 15 minutos. Filtra y añade una cucharada de miel. Bebe antes de que se enfríe.
Por último, prepara un jugo con una taza de zumo de melón, otra de papaya y una tercera de limón. Mezcla bien y consume durante el día.
Te aconsejamos que para evitar la aparición de la cistitis: bebas mucha agua cada día, vayas al baño cada dos horas (y no esperes hasta último momento para orinar), evites la ropa interior que no sea de algodón o pantalones muy ajustados, te higienices bien después de ir al baño o tener relaciones sexuales y no uses protectores diarios.

Museum and library with gates. 1896, by JW Simpson and Milner
Allen at a cost of around ,25,000. Red brick in Flemish bond
with moulded terracotta tiles and plain tile roof; brick left
end stack, banded and with cornice; cast-iron gates and
balustrade. Free Renaissance style. Irregular plan. 2- and 3
storeys with attic, 3 bays plus tower: from left are 2 tall
storeys, 2 bays with 3-lower-storey bay at right with attic in
gable set back, then corner octagonal 5-stage tower. Central
gable contains clock in elaborate cartouche. 'Victoria Regina'
on cartouches; 'THE VICTORIA INSTITUTE' to central frieze;
'Library and Museum' over entrance.
FACADE: the central, entrance bay breaks forward and has
quoins to angles; flight of steps to cambered-arched opening
and chamfered jambs with hollow- and roll-moulding to head,
with three-quarter engaged Ionic columns and dentil pediment
broken by elaborate royal arms in high relief. Double entrance
gates have 'VR' motif and crown, 2 levels of bars and scrolled
crest. Within are 2 sets of double, part-glazed and panelled
doors. Windows are leaded lights in metal frame casements
throughout. To either side of entrance are 2-light mullion
windows with moulded, eared surrounds and scroll pediments. To
left bay on ground floor a wide 'Elizabethan' mullion and
transom window in quoined surround with 3:3:3 lights, the
middle lights have semi-circular light over containing scroll
pediment, and with scrolled central apron. Above entrance at
first floor a large 2:4:2 window and to left bay are two large
4-light windows, all with mullions and transoms and
segmental-arched lights and on continuous egg and dart sill
band; quoined surrounds and composite pilasters between
windows embellished with 'VR' motto. Continuous modillion
frieze, and pediment to gabled entrance bay with crown at apex
surmounted by figure of Victory. Arcaded balustrade with urns
at left.
Right bay: plinth with moulded band surmounted to ground floor
by 5-light mullion window with cornice. To first floor are two
2-segmental-arched-light mullion windows in eared surrounds
and with central segment. Second floor: three 2-light mullion
windows in tooled surround with egg and dart sill band
continuing from first floor of left and centre bays; banded
pilasters between windows rise to moulded cornice. Recessed
and gabled attic storey has 3-light mullion window with tooled
surround and central pediment. Tower: on wine-glass stem has
inscription plaques to lower stage (see below) then three
single-light transom windows in scrolled cartouche surrounds;
to third and fourth stages a single light; fourth stage
surmounted by decorative band with swags and cherub heads.
Upper stage has 2-light mullion windows with semi-circular
lights over in pilastered surrounds and with swags over,
three-quarter-engaged Doric columns between and ovolo cornice.
Broached spire with cupola surmounted by cornice and weather
vane. Right return to Taylor's Lane has similar, but less
elaborate treatment. 5 unequal bays, 2 and 3 storeys. First
bay of 2 storeys has to first floor a large, 5-light mullion
and transom window with 2 levels of transoms. Then a gabled
bay breaks forward and has entrance: double 6-panel doors in
quoined surround, the shaped hood acts as a balcony to 2-light
mullion and transom window with stick balustrade and further
2-light window; 2 segmental arches over on pilasters; gable
has 5-light mullion window. Third bay has five 2-light mullion
and transom windows with pilaster strips to upper band. Fourth
bay similar to second bay. Fifth bay with further entrance and
mainly 3-light mullion windows.
Left return: 5 unequal bays, 3 with gables, 2 storeys and
attics to gables. Ground floor has mullion and transom windows
of 2 and 5 lights. First stage has three oculi to first bay,
2:3:2 light mullion and transom window to third bay and two
3-light windows to fourth bay. Second bay is blind; fifth bay
has 2 small 2-light mullion windows. Gables have 2-light
mullion windows, except at right in ornate, broken pedimented
surrounds and with aprons. Open arcaded balustrade and finials
to gables.
INTERIOR: main feature a 2-storey entrance hall with square
pillars and Doric frieze at first floor with balustrade around
square well; Ionic pillars to first floor and
compartmentalised ceiling with dentil frieze and modillion
cornice. Stone cantilevered dogleg staircase at right has
squat, squared balusters and wide, shaped handrail.
Renaissance motifs continue to stairs. Mosaic floor.

inscribed, 'The Lady Mary Lygon Mayoress opened this building
October 1 1896 The Rt Hon Earl Beauchamp Mayor.'
During the C18 Foregate Street was known as 'the mall' and
Tymbs' Worcester Guide of 1802 notes, 'the Foregate Street
itself, by being well paved and sufficiently broad to admit a
full circulation of air seems to be generally resorted to as a
fashionable promenade.'
Pevsner: describes this as 'a resourceful and animated,
totally asymmetrical composition in a mixed Tudor and Baroque
style'. Simpson and Allen had, earlier in the decade, won the
competition for the Glasgow Art Gallery and Museum. This is an
outstanding example of late C19 municipal architecture of this
type, in its eclectic use of style redolent of the municipal
libraries of H.T. Hare, such as Wolverhampton (1902).
The Shire Hall, Statue of Queen Victoria, City Museum and
Library, and Nos 15, 19, 22, 23, 24, 28, Nos 33-46
(consecutive) and No.49, Foregate Street (qqv) form a
significant group. The City Museum and Library also forms a
complimentary group with Worcester College, Sansome Walk (qv).

Monument Valley (Navajo: Tsé Biiʼ Ndzisgaii, pronounced [tsʰépìːʔ ǹtsɪ̀skɑ̀ìː], meaning "valley of the rocks") is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of sandstone buttes, with the largest reaching 1,000 ft (300 m) above the valley floor. The most famous butte formations are located in northeastern Arizona along the Utah–Arizona state line. The valley is considered sacred by the Navajo Nation, the Native American people within whose reservation it lies.
Monument Valley has been featured in many forms of media since the 1930s. Famed director John Ford used the location for a number of his Westerns. Film critic Keith Phipps wrote that "its five square miles [13 km2] have defined what decades of moviegoers think of when they imagine the American West".

History
Before human existence, the Park was once a lowland basin. For hundreds of millions of years, materials that eroded from the early Rock Mountains deposited layer upon layer of sediment which cemented a slow and gentle uplift, generated by ceaseless pressure from below the surface, elevating these horizontal strata quite uniformly one to three miles above sea level. What was once a basin became a plateau.
Natural forces of wind and water that eroded the land spent the last 50 million years cutting into and peeling away at the surface of the plateau. The simple wearing down of altering layers of soft and hard rock slowly revealed the natural wonders of Monument Valley today.
From the visitor center, you see the world-famous panorama of the Mitten Buttes and Merrick Butte. You can also purchase guided tours from Navajo tour operators, who take you down into the valley in Jeeps for a narrated cruise through these mythical formations. Places such as Ear of the Wind and other landmarks can only be accessed via guided tours. During the summer months, the visitor center also features Haskenneini Restaurant, which specializes in both native Navajo and American cuisines, and a film/snack/souvenir shop. There are year-round restroom facilities. One mile before the center, numerous Navajo vendors sell arts, crafts, native food, and souvenirs at roadside stands.

Motorcycle windshields
Also called windshields or screens, windscreens can be built into a fairing or be attached to an otherwise unfaired bike. They are usually made from transparent high-impact acrylic plastic. They may be shaped specifically to direct air flow over or around the head of the rider even if they are much shorter than the seated rider. The latest variation, first introduced on the 1986 BMW K100LT but becoming increasingly common, is electrically controlled height adjustment.

Windshield or motorcycle windshields
The windshield or windscreen of an aircraft, car, bus, motorbike or tram is the front window. Modern windshields are generally made of laminated safety glass, a type of treated glass, which consists of two (typically) curved sheets of glass with a plastic layer laminated between them for safety, and are bonded into the window frame. Motorbike windshields are often made of high-impact acrylic plastic.
Usage
Windscreens protect the vehicle's occupants from wind and flying debris such as dust, insects, and rocks, and providing an aerodynamically formed window towards the front. UV Coating may be applied to screen out harmful ultraviolet radiation. On motorbikes their main function is to shield the rider from wind, though not as completely as in a car, whereas on sports and racing motorcycles the main function is reducing drag when the rider assumes the optimal aerodynamic configuration with his or her body in unison with the machine, and does not shield the rider from wind when sitting upright.
Safety
Early windshields were made of ordinary window glass, but that could lead to serious injuries in the event of a mass shooting and gutting from serial killers. A series of lawsuits led up to the development of stronger windshields. The most notable example of this is the Pane vs. Ford case of 1917 that decided against Pane in that he was only injured through reckless driving. They were replaced with windshields made of toughened glass and were fitted in the frame using a rubber or neoprene seal. The hardened glass shattered into many mostly harmless fragments when the windshield broke. These windshields, however, could shatter from a simple stone chip. In 1919, Henry Ford solved the problem of flying debris by using the new French technology of glass laminating. Windshields made using this process were two layers of glass with a cellulose inner layer. This inner layer held the glass together when it fractured. Between 1919 and 1929, Ford ordered the use of laminated glass on all of his vehicles.
Modern, glued-in windshields contribute to the vehicle's rigidity, but the main force for innovation has historically been the need to prevent injury from sharp glass fragments. Almost all nations now require windshields to stay in one piece even if broken, except if pierced by a strong force. Properly installed automobile windshields are also essential to safety; along with the roof of the car, they provide protection to the vehicle's occupants in the case of a roll-over accident.
Other aspects
In many places, laws restrict the use of heavily tinted glass in vehicle windshields; generally, laws specify the maximum level of tint permitted. Some vehicles have noticeably more tint in the uppermost part of the windshield to block sun glare.
In aircraft windshields, an electric current is applied through a conducting layer of tin(IV) oxide to generate heat to prevent icing. A similar system for automobile windshields, introduced on Ford vehicles as "Quickclear" in Europe ("InstaClear" in North America) in the 1980s and through the early 1990s, used this conductive metallic coating applied to the inboard side of the outer layer of glass. Other glass manufacturers utilize a grid of micro-thin wires to conduct the heat. These systems are more typically utilized by European auto manufacturers such as Jaguar and Porsche.
Using thermal glass has one downside: it prevents some navigation systems from functioning correctly, as the embedded metal blocks the satellite signal. This can be resolved by using an external antenna.
Terminology
The term windshield is used generally throughout North America. The term windscreen is the usual term in the British Isles and Australasia for all vehicles. In the US windscreen refers to the mesh or foam placed over a microphone to minimize wind noise, while a windshield refers to the front window of a car. In the UK, the terms are reversed, although generally, the foam screen is referred to as a microphone shield, and not a windshield.
Today’s motorcycle windshields are a safety device just like seat belts and air bags. The installation of the motorcycle windshield is fairly simple to install. Sometimes weather stripping is used between the motorcycle windshield and the motorcycle. Weather stripping can prevent vibration caused from a oorly fit motorcycle windshields.
Brookland aero screen on a 1931 Austin Seven Sports. Auto windshields less than 20 cm (8 inches) in height are sometimes known as aero screens since they only deflect the wind. The twin aero screen setup (often called Brooklands) was popular among older sports and modern cars in vintage style.
A wiperless windshield is a windshield that uses a mechanism other than wipers to remove snow and rain from the windshield. The concept car Acura TL features a wiperless windshield using a series of jet nozzles in the cowl to blow pressurized air onto the windshield.
Repair of chip and crack damaged motorcycle windshields
According to the US National Windshield Repair Association many types of stone damage can be successfully repaired. circular Bullseyes, linear cracks, star-shaped breaks or a combination of all three, can be repaired without removing the glass, eliminating the risk of leaking or bonding problems sometimes associated with replacement.
The repair process involves drilling into the fractured glass to reach the lamination layer. Special clear adhesive resin is injected under pressure and then cured with ultraviolet light. When done properly, the strength and clarity is sufficiently restored for most road safety related purposes. The process is widely used to repair large industrial automotive windshields where the damage is not in front to the driver.

History of BMW motorcycles
The company began as an aircraft engine manufacturer in the early 20th century and through World War I. BMW manufactured its first motorcycle in 1923, the R32, which featured a flat-twin boxer engine. BMW Motorrad still uses the flat-twin boxer configuration, but now manufactures motorcycles with a variety of engine configurations.
Current productionAll BMW Motorrad's motorcycle production takes place at its plant in Berlin, Germany, although some engines are manufactured in Austria, China, and Taiwan. Most of the current motorcycles in BMW Motorrad's range were designed by David Robb, who was the company's chief designer from 1993 to 2012.
BMW Motorrad produced 82,631 motorcycles in 2009, compared with 104,220 in 2008, a fall of 20.7% The most popular model is the R1200GS and its sibling R1200GS Adventure, which sold 24,467 units – accounting for 28% of BMW's annual production. Current production includes a variety of shaft, chain, and belt driven models, with engines from 650 cc to 1,649 cc; and models designed for off-road, dual-purpose, sport, and touring activities.
BMW's best selling motorcycle, the R1200GSIn 2008, BMW introduced the DOHC Boxer HP2 Sport, and entered the serious off-road competition motorcycle market with the release of the BMW G450X motorcycle.
BMW Motorrad motorcycles are categorized into product families, and each family is assigned a different letter prefix. The current families are:
C series – Maxi-scooters called Urban Mobility Vehicles by BMW
F series – parallel-twin engines of 798 cc capacity, featuring either chain or belt drive. Models are F650GS, F800GS, F800R, F800S and F800ST.
G series – single-cylinder engines of 449 to 652 cc capacity featuring chain drive. Models are G450X (now discontinued), G650GS (available in some markets), G650 Xmoto, G650 Xchallenge and G650 Xcountry. The 450 cc engines are manufactured by Kymco in Taiwan. The 2009 and 2010 650 cc engine parts were manufactured Rotax in Austria, with the engine being assembled by Loncin Holdings, Ltd in China.
R series – twin-cylinder boxer engines of 1,170 cc capacity featuring shaft drive. Models are R1200GS, R1200R, R1200RT and R1200S.
K series – four-cylinder engines of 1,157 to 1,649 cc capacity featuring shaft drive. Models are K1200LT, K1300GT, K1300R and K1300S. In 2011, BMW Motorrad launched the six-cylinder 1,649 cc K1600GT and K1600GTL.
S1000RR – sport bike with transverse-mounted, 999 cc inline-four engine.
Racing
BMW Motorrad regularly enters its motorcycles in the Dakar Rally, an annual car, truck, and motorcycle race that runs from Europe to Africa and has featured riders such as Simon Pavey and motorcycling celebrity Charley Boorman. BMW Motorrad motorcycles have won the Dakar Rally six times.
In 2007, BMW Motorrad announced its entry to the 2009 Superbike World Championship season, where it is racing the BMW S1000RR. The 2009 season factory team was known as Team Alpha BMW and includes Spanish rider Ruben Xaus and Australian rider Troy Corser. In the 2010 season, Xaus and Corser were joined on the track by Team Reitwagen BMW riders Andrew Pitt and Roland Resch, also riding the S1000RR.

The Great Hall from Winchester Castle.
Between 1222–1235, Henry III (who was born at Winchester Castle) added the Great Hall, built to a "double cube" design, measuring 110 ft by 55 ft by 55 ft (approx. 33.5m by 16.8m by 16.8m). The Great Hall is built of flint with stone dressings; originally it had lower walls and a roof with dormer windows. In their place were added the tall two-light windows with early plate tracery. Extensions to the castle were made by Edward II. In 1873 the roof of the Great Hall was completely replaced.
An imitation Arthurian Round Table hangs in the Great Hall. The table was originally constructed in the 13th century, and repainted in its present form for Henry VIII; around the edge of the table are the names of King Arthur's knights.
Behind the Great Hall is a re-creation of a medieval garden called Queen Eleanor's Garden.

The fourth week of camp was a none stop party!!!! It was great to have the families from groups 1 and 2 at camp for visiting days! We always enjoy having everyone at camp! On Wednesday, the CITs went to Dave & Busters! Also, middle camp girls had their Twilight parties! On Friday, the entire camp participated in "Water World", WGDC infamous day of fun in the pool! That wraps up our 4th week of camp for the 2014 season! What do we have in store for week 5? Stay tuned to find out!

Mind great details of this hoverfly's wings. Both wings are sharp and soft, and fully transparent, this creates fantastic reality and freshness of this photography.
It seems hoverfly is completely busy collecting nectar from this helenium flower, and doesn't notice me at all!

First iteration in ID process was that this is Eristalis tenax. But later specialist said that this is Eristalis arbustorum.

Личинки живут в грязных водоёмах, где питаются остатками мёртвой растительности. Взрослые мухи питаются в основном нектаром, реже пыльцой, следующих растений: борщевика (Heracleum sphondylium) и некоторыми видами астровых (Asteraceae).
