I've been approached by two other models and one photographer since last week. I'm so excited.
Not sure about this photo but I'm kind of burnt out after yesterday, it'll have to do. No makeup. I'm not as freckly as this photo seems to suggest, btw.

I'm coming back, New York. I tell you this as a warning, because I am gonna fuck shit up. I'm gonna write my name on each of the bodies I drop. Imma make some noise!!!!!!!

Okay, not really. But I am gonna be there with 2 cameras and enough film to do what I gotta do.
And what I gotta do is a last run at NY with my Polaroid.
Because I got a fever. And the only cure is more picture-takin'.
So let me know if you're gonna be in the Big Apple the week of September 28th-October 2nd.
Let's make some magic.
I'll show you how we do Polaroid on the west coast.

Due to the destruction of most of the ancient city during 1917 revolution and, later, to the 1966 earthquake, little remains of Tashkent's traditional architectural heritage. Tashkent is, however, rich in museums and Soviet-era monuments.
Telyashayakh Mosque (Khast Imam Mosque). It Contains the Uthman Qur'an, considered to be the oldest extant Qur'an in the world. Dating from 655 and stained with the blood of murdered caliph, Uthman, it was brought by Timur to Samarkand, seized by the Russians as a war trophy and taken to Saint Petersburg. It was returned to Uzbekistan in 1924.
The Othman Qur'an (also termed the Othmanic codex, Othmanic recension, Samarkand codex, Samarkand manuscript and Tashkent Qur'an), named for the third Caliph, Uthman ibn Affan, is a manuscripted copy of the Qur'an, kept at the Hast Imam library. Along with the Sana'a manuscripts, it is considered to be the oldest in the world.
This copy of the Qur'an is attributed to the third caliph Uthman. In 651, 19 years after the death of Muhammad, Uthman commissioned a committee to produce a standard copy of the text of Quran (see Origin and development of the Qur'an). Five of these original Qur'ans were sent to the major Muslim cities of the era, with Uthman keeping one for his own use in Medina. The only other surviving copy is said to be held in Topkapı Palace, in Turkey.
Uthman was succeeded by Ali, who took the Uthman Qur'an to Kufa, now in Iraq. When Tamerlane destroyed the area, he took the Qur'an to his capital, Samarkand, as a treasure. It remained there for four centuries until, in 1868, when the Russians invaded, captured the Qur'an and brought it back to the Imperial Library in St. Petersburg.
After the October Revolution, Vladimir Lenin, in an act of good will to the Muslims of Russia gave the Qur'an to the people of Ufa, Bashkortostan. After repeated appeals by the people of Turkestan ASSR, the Qur'an was returned to Central Asia, to Tashkent, in 1924, where it has since remained.
The parchment manuscript is currently held in the library of the Telyashayakh Mosque, in the old "Hast-Imam" (Khazrati Imom) area of Tashkent, Uzbekistan, close to the grave of Kaffal Shashi, a 10th-century Islamic scholar.
The manuscript is rather incomplete, only one third of the Qur'an survives. It begins in the middle of verse 7 of the second sura and ending abruptly at Surah 43.10. It has between eight and twelve lines to the page, is devoid of vocalisation and as such is very ancient.

From the Hidden Groves website:
History of the Hidden Groves
In 2000 a local resident noticed tapes up for logging in what is now the Hidden Grove and the movement to save this local gem began.
A Hidden Grove Park Steering Committee ( a committee of the Sandy Hook Community Association) was directed by the District of Sechelt to prepare a development concept plan for that area of District Lot 3006 known as Hidden Grove or Interfor Block 350. On November 6, 2002 the original work of the committee seemed basically completed with a presentation to the District of Sechelt council.
Nevertheless from 2002 and until 2008 the Committee worked to thwart logging interests in the area as they wanted to clear cut the Hidden Grove. When the Sunshine Coast Community Forest was formed and at their first AGM, the SCCF promised no logging for 2 years, later this was extended to 5 and then to as long as they had tenure from the Province. Then and only then was real work allowed to go ahead with the work parties putting in approved trails and starting other projects. In 2011 the SCCF tenure was extended to 25 years so the Committee could relax.
In 2011 the overall commitment became a bit much for the Sandy Hook Community Association that had other obligations too. Also it was seen as advantageous to not only have a dedicated Society but one that could apply for Charitable status with the ability to issue tax receipts. March 8, 2011 the Sechelt Groves Society was formed using some seed money from the SHCA and including some SHCA board members on the new Society board.
Throughout 2011 and into the 2012 Society carried on with trail building and maintenance but also saw to the installation of the parking lot. It launched major dedicated fund raising for Phase 1 of a Accessibility Trail into the Ancient Grove. As funds came in work started in the August of 2011. The "Take It Easy — AYAT-TSUT" trail was officially opened on May 12, 2012.
During the same period the entrance kiosk was donated and the Trailbuilders completed it’s installation on September 19, 2012
On July 12, 2012 work was started on the second Accessibility trail — Monty's Way — with the official opening on April 7, 2013.
By the spring of 2013 the Society had raised over $60,000 in funds and in kind donations as well as obtaining special support from the District of Sechelt and the Sunshine Coast Community Forest. The volunteer Trailbuilders had put in literally thousands of hours of hard labour to get everything done.
Since then the Society has taken on numerous smaller projects such as permanent trail intersection maps and interpretive signage on Monty’s Way. Plans for the near future include a second expansion of the parking lot and extensive landscaping with native plants.
I visited this with my mother, so these are quick snapshots with the Insta360 ONE camera rather than with the better-but-slower Nikon.
These saprophytes are called "Indian Pipes".
Indian Pipe is a small, low-lying wildflower. Unique among wildflowers, Indian Pipe is opaque white (sometimes red-rarely pink) in color from root to petal. As indicated by its scientific name, Indian pipe has a singular nodding flower at its terminal end. The straight, thin stem has a waxy, fungus-like consistency and is irregularly sheathed in thin, translucent white bracts (reduced from leaves).

The duck-boat man yells to children in the pond
OK, I think that they are actually probably supposed to be swan boats. We came across this scene on a day trip from London to Colchester, a smaller town at the end of a railway line. We picked the place more or less at random, thinking that we simply wanted to visit some town outside of London that we could get to and from in a day. The town felt a bit like a combination of regular town, distance commuter town, and slightly seedy resort area.
The town features one large castle in very good shape and the ruins of another very old stone structure. The former is in a very large public park, and quite a nice park it is. It has extensive lawns, areas of well-kept and very beautiful flowers. And off in a "corner" there is this pond. Something about this scene struck me as being both banal and a bit strange, with the group of children sitting in the boat and looking back at the fellow in the waders and orange shirt, who appears to be just a bit upset.

Moths of Borneo: Gunung Trusmadi
The Borneo Jungle Girl Camp or Trus Madi Entomology Camp sits deep in the lush forests of Gunung Trusmadi, Sabah — the northern-most state of Malaysian Borneo. It is a Class 1 Fully Protected Forestry Reserve on Mount Trusmadi, the second highest mountain in Malaysia, standing at 2642 meters (8668 feet) tall.
At Borneo Jungle Girl Camp, I stayed for 4 nights with a group of friends and returned with almost 7000 photos, recording almost 600 species of moths and lots of other insects and arachnids. Photos from other taxonomic groups will be uploaded to my Flickr collections and split into taxonomic groups.

Úbeda, Jaén (Spain).
ENGLISH
The main parish church of Santa María de los Reales Alcázares displays the most significant mixture of architectural styles, to be found in the city. The buildings historic and artistic patronage is complex and its solid external appearance is of a defensive fortification.
Built on an archaeological site where remains of bronze and Roman civilisations have been found, the Church rests of the foundations of the main mosque of Muslim Úbeda. According to tradition the Romans built a temple here dedicated to Diane. After the conquest of the town by Ferdinand II the Saint, in 1223, the Mosque was consecrated in the Catholic faith with the title High Parish Church of the Royal Alcazares and of Our Lady of the Ascension. In 1259 it achieved the rank of High Collegiate Church. In 1852 the Church's collegiate rank was withdrawn, reversing to the rank of High Parish Church. Being the principal temple of the city, it has preserved important archives and a multitude of treasures. The latter being donations and numerous priviledges bestowed by Popes, Kings and bishops.
Its external appearance blends Medieval and Classicist styles. Being built on to the ols walls of the fortress, Santa María church has been the main witness to the great changes and strife of Úbeda. Today it still offers a special attraction to the town which is due to its great historical character and the population's identification with its heritage.

CASTELLANO

Yesterday evening around sunset I got *the jitters*... I was tired from work, would I go out with the camera or stay in? I saw some interesting cloud activity so I decided to give it a go and bike in the direction of Overschie to see if *something would happen*.
What I found was a stunning double rainbow, some of the weirdest light and clouds I ever saw and... the decision to flee back home or stay, shoot and get completely soaked as a bonus.
I decided to stay and get washed away. :) Here's the first part (which is actually part II, err nevermind) of what I saw and experienced yesterday only *just* before sunset. Enjoy your weekend, and yes... I'll be catching up soon!

Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto
Toronto is the provincial capital of Ontario. With a recorded population of 2,731,571 in 2016, it is the most populous city in Canada and the fourth most populous city in North America. The city is the anchor of the Golden Horseshoe, an urban agglomeration of 9,245,438 people (as of 2016) surrounding the western end of Lake Ontario, while the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) proper had a 2016 population of 6,417,516. Toronto is an international centre of business, finance, arts, and culture, and is recognized as one of the most multicultural and cosmopolitan cities in the world.
People have travelled through and inhabited the Toronto area, located on a broad sloping plateau interspersed with rivers, deep ravines, and urban forest, for more than 10,000 years. After the broadly disputed Toronto Purchase, when the Mississauga surrendered the area to the British Crown, the British established the town of York in 1793 and later designated it as the capital of Upper Canada. During the War of 1812, the town was the site of the Battle of York and suffered heavy damage by American troops. York was renamed and incorporated in 1834 as the city of Toronto. It was designated as the capital of the province of Ontario in 1867 during Canadian Confederation. The city proper has since expanded past its original borders through both annexation and amalgamation to its current area of 630.2 km2 (243.3 sq mi).
The diverse population of Toronto reflects its current and historical role as an important destination for immigrants to Canada. More than 50 percent of residents belong to a visible minority population group, and over 200 distinct ethnic origins are represented among its inhabitants. While the majority of Torontonians speak English as their primary language, over 160 languages are spoken in the city.
Toronto is a prominent centre for music, theatre, motion picture production, and television production, and is home to the headquarters of Canada's major national broadcast networks and media outlets. Its varied cultural institutions, which include numerous museums and galleries, festivals and public events, entertainment districts, national historic sites, and sports activities, attract over 43 million tourists each year. Toronto is known for its many skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, in particular the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere, the CN Tower.
The city is home to the Toronto Stock Exchange, the headquarters of Canada's five largest banks, and the headquarters of many large Canadian and multinational corporations. Its economy is highly diversified with strengths in technology, design, financial services, life sciences, education, arts, fashion, aerospace, environmental innovation, food services, and tourism.
Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hockey_Hall_of_Fame
The Hockey Hall of Fame (French: Temple de la renommée du hockey) is a museum and hall of fame located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Dedicated to the history of ice hockey, it holds exhibits about players, teams, National Hockey League (NHL) records, memorabilia and NHL trophies, including the Stanley Cup. Founded in Kingston, Ontario, the Hockey Hall of Fame was established in 1943 under the leadership of James T. Sutherland. The first class of honoured members was inducted in 1945, before the Hall of Fame had a permanent location. It moved to Toronto in 1958 after the NHL withdrew its support for the International Hockey Hall of Fame in Kingston, Ontario, due to funding issues. Its first permanent building opened at Exhibition Place in 1961. The hall was relocated in 1993, and is now in Downtown Toronto, inside Brookfield Place, and a historic Bank of Montreal building. The Hockey Hall of Fame has hosted International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) exhibits and the IIHF Hall of Fame since 1998.
An 18-person committee of players, coaches and others meets annually in June to select new honourees, who are inducted as players, builders or on-ice officials. In 2010, a subcategory was established for female players. The builders' category includes coaches, general managers, commentators, team owners and others who have helped build the game. Honoured members are inducted into the Hall of Fame in an annual ceremony held at the Hall of Fame building in November, which is followed by a special "Hockey Hall of Fame Game" between the Toronto Maple Leafs and a visiting team. As of 2019, 284 players (including six women), 111 builders and 16 on-ice officials have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame has been criticized for focusing mainly on players from the National Hockey League and largely ignoring players from other North American and international leagues.
SanDisk Sansa Clip Mini Review
In black is my new toy. It's the SanDisk Sansa Clip Mp3 player. It's kind of a cross between an iPod Nano and a Shuffle. It's more like a shuffle due to it's limited screen and minuscule size and I really like it. All the features (and more) of a shuffle with a screen so you know what's playing and can find the song you want.
It comes in 1,2,4,and 8GB flavors in an assortment of colors. I got the 2GB one for cheap ($20) on the deal a day site, sellout.woot.com. It was my first time 'wooting' and it shipped from nearby and came really fast. Ordered last Thursday, got a shipping email this morning with an estimate of delivery on the 23rd (Saturday) and was surprised to see it in the mailbox this afternoon, delivered by USPS. Woot doesn't have the greatest shipping time (most ship within 5 business days), but props to them for keeping their promise and getting it to me within 5 total.
As the title says, smaller is better sometimes. I have been looking for a small, portable throw-around mp3 player and this fits the bill perfectly. It is better than the shuffle in all aspects except the size, but with a beautiful screen as this one, I can certainly live with. To top it off, it can do what no other iPod can do, listen to FM radio, record from the radio, or even record voice notes and audio with its built-in microphone. Oh yeah, and then there's the price!
Surprisingly, as small as this guy is (was totally blown away at how empty the small box it came in was because it is so small), it has some incredible sound quality. One of the benefits of it not being an Apple product, is not having to use iTunes to sync my library (it's quite a big library which is already fully synced with the 60gb iPod Video). I can just drag and drop just about any song I want to the player like a USB drive. It can play your standard MP3 (including DRM ones from Napster and online music subscriptions), WMA, Audible books, OGGs, and FLACs. The last file format is the one that caught my attention. Out of the box, it can play lossless music. Lossless music (FLACs) is the de facto music format for audiophiles. It is encoded in such a way (a high bitrate) that none of the quality is lost. When MP3s are encoded, the music is compressed and music is essentially lost. With FLACs, none of this happens, you hear the original music as intended by the artist. This is one of the reasons I don't buy my songs online, it's lossy (read: junk). Of course, not everyone can tell the difference between lossless and lossy music. Try this test to see if you can tell the difference between lossy and very lossy music. Typically lossless music is encoded at 800 kbps (kilo bits per second) or higher while the maximum MP3s are encoded at are 320 KB/Sec. Anyways, getting back to the player, it can play lossless music and it can do it well. I have been listening to it with my Shure E2C earbuds all night and am enjoying every second of it. Compared with my iPod, it has a much fuller richer sounding quality to it. Certainly, not all mp3 players are made alike.
Moving on to the player itself, it's very small and quite light. It's made of shiny black plastic that seems sturdy (doesn't flex) but a bit cheap (but it makes it light and keeps it affordable). For navigation, it has a layout similar to the ipod. Instead of a scroll wheel, it has clickable directional buttons and a home button. In a song, the top button is the play/pause button. I keep wanting to press this to go to the menu (like the ipod), but that button is the bottom button (direct opposite from Apple's design). The left and right are for the previous and next song. One thing that is really neat is pressing the home button takes you to the main menu where you can select from music, radio, voice recording, and settings. Press it again and it instantly takes you to the "now plaing" song. I wish the iPod had a button like that instead of navigating all the way back to the begining main menu. On the left hand side is mini-usb jack and the sliding on/off/hold button. On the right, is the volume button (a simple up or down clicker) under the 3.5mm headphone hack. On the back is the removable clip which doesn't seem too strong, but has clipped and stayed clipped everywhere I've attached it (in the car, shirt, pockets, etc...).
The screen is a 2 color (blue and gold/yellow) 4 line OLED screen. It's a brilliantly bright crips display that can do many display many different (limited) graphics, words, and characters. It's dimmable if it's too bright or can be raised if it needs to be brighter in the sunlight. Unfortunately the little navigation wheel is not dimmable, but it's not blinding.
Conclusion
Great, you're still with me! Overall, after using it for less than 24 hours, it's a phenomenal product and I'm glad I bought it. Does exactly what it says it will do and does it well. If you're looking for an inexpensive, good sounding, small mp3 player, look no further. I'd highly recommend it. It also goes extremely well with a nice pair of headphones. I have not run into any bugs, but I have updated the firmware to the latest version and SanDisk seems to have good support. There are two forums in particular which have a large community for the Clip. One is AnythingButIpod and the official Sansa forum. I will still continue to use my big iPod but more for the longer trips and for watching movies and videos. The clip, however, is perfect for grab and go, daily use.
Bottom Line
What I liked:
Incredible Sound quality
Small and light
Inexpensive
Easy to Use
What I didn't like (could be improved):
Clip could be a bit stronger and flatter
Expandable memory via a MicroSD slot would just be over-the-top incredible
If I haven't written enough, there's another excellent review at ABI.
