This is what happened after 10 straight hours of poker at a friend's place in the countryside: I ended up in the morning taking photos of dew drops !!!
BTW, there' s no PS or any added blur, this is just the DoF. Maybe I'll by a macro lens someday, who knows ?! I would have to win that damn poker nights though !

Shot it at Kumbha Mela 2010.Its a greatest show on Earth.
In Hindu mythology, its origin is found in one of the popular creation myths and the Hindu theories on evolution, the Samudra manthan episode (Churning of the ocean of milk), which finds mention in the Bhagavata Purana, Vishnu Purana, the Mahabharata, and the Ramayana.
The Gods had lost their strength, and to regain it, they thought of churning the Ksheera Sagara (primordial ocean of milk) for amrit (the nectar of immortality), this required them to make a temporary agreement with their arch enemies, the demons or Asuras, to work together with a promise of sharing the nectar equally thereafter. However, when the Kumbha (urn) containing the amrita appeared, a fight ensued. For twelve days and twelve nights (equivalent to twelve human years) the gods and demons fought in the sky for the pot of amrita. It is believed that during the battle, Lord Vishnu flew away with the Kumbha of elixir, and that is when drops of amrita fell at four places on earth: Prayag, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik, and that is where the Kumbh Mela is observed every twelve years.
First written evidence of the Kumbha Mela can be found in the accounts of Chinese traveller, Huan Tsang or Xuanzang (602 - 664 A.D.) who visited India in 629 -645 CE, during the reign of King Harshavardhana.

About The Shot | Total Lunar Eclipse June 2011:
Al-Quran | Surah Luqman | Ayat 29:
"Tidakkah kamu memperhatikan, bahwa sesungguhnya Allah memasukkan malam ke dalam siang dan memasukkan siang ke dalam malam dan Dia tundukkan matahari dan bulan masing-masing berjalan sampai kepada waktu yang ditentukan, dan sesungguhnya Allah Maha Mengetahui apa yang kamu kerjakan."

Michael shooting up in his “Cave”
The Cave is almost always crowded, a different mix every day, the one constant being Michael. Egypt calls him the “House mother.”
The other constant is the smell of drugs, crack or heroin. Heroin is necessary to run ahead of the dope sickness. Crack is the little something, the rush that lifts them away from the mundane.
They are never relaxed. Never ahead of their addiction. “You know those dreams in cartoons, the one where you running and getting no place, that train coming at your back? That’s life out here. Difference is we ain’t running. We walking the track with our ass hanging out, sucking ugly ass dick every day. Give me running any day”

Gunnuhver geothermal area is a field of steaming fumaroles and boiling mud pools. In the recent past some geysers existed here as well. As the tectonic plates move, new passages are constantly opening (and older ones are closing) for heated groundwater and gases. Gunnuhver is one such area. Here deeper below the surface the temperature of ground (and water in it) reaches 300° C. Much of groundwater comes from the nearby sea and is rich with chlorides and also with dissolved silica. As a result in the recent past hot springs and geysers have created sinter deposits - a hill named Kísilhóll (Kísilhóll, Silica hill). Today here are no hot water springs and geysers, but northeast from Kísilhóll are located many steam vents (fumaroles) and boiling mud pools. Mud pools are formed by acidic groundwater sources, which turn lava into clay. The largest mud pool in Iceland also is located here - it is 20 m across, boiling vigorously along its rims. Hot ground is an immense source of energy. In 2006 near Gunnuhver geothermal field started to operate the Reykjanes Geothermal Plant. As a result the steaming of the ground in the geothermal field increased.
The walkways here make it easy to watch your step, but they weren’t here 300 years ago when the troublesome ghost of Gudrún Önundardóttir—who gives her nickname ‘Gunna’ to this beautiful geothermal field—was tricked into taking hold of a charmed knotted-rope that led her across the field and into the big fumerole. Some say she didn’t fall in with the rope, but is stuck holding onto the end of it, and paces around the rim of the steamy abyss for all eternity. I can’t be sure, but it was uncanny how the steam shifted in the breeze but never cleared completely, as though veiling something, or someone… You need to tread carefully when wandering around the striking mud pools and fumaroles of Gunnuhver, close to the Reykjanes town of Grindavík.
The Gunnuhver geothermal field reopened in June 2010 after being closed for a couple of years due to instability—one of the dangers being that the high-pressured steam might suddenly find another outlet underneath the visitor walkway.

Your sorry eyes cut through the bone
They make it hard to leave you alone
Leave you here wearing your wounds
Waving your guns at somebody new
Baby you're lost
Baby you're lost
Baby you're a lost cause
There's too many people you used to know
They see you coming they see you go
They know your secrets and you know theirs
This town is crazy; nobody cares
Baby you're lost
Baby you're lost
Baby you're a lost cause
I'm tired of fighting
I'm tired of fighting
Fighting for a lost cause
There’s a place where you are going
You ain't never been before
No one left to watch your back now
No one standing at your door
That's what you thought love was for
Baby you're lost
Baby you're lost
Baby you're a lost cause
I'm tired of fighting
I'm tired of fighting
Fighting for a lost cause

On November 4, 2008 Proposition 8 passed in California, amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage. The defeat provoked a groundswell of initiative within the GLBT community at a grassroots level, with many new political and protest organizations being formed in response.
The NOH8 Campaign is a photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska (http://www.bouska.net) and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world, with "NOH8" painted on one cheek in protest.
Nearly one year since its inception, the NOH8 Campaign has grown to over 2,000 faces and continues to grow at an exponential rate. The campaign began with portraits of everyday Californians from all walks of life and soon rose to include politicians, military personnel, newlyweds, law enforcement, artists, celebrities, and many more.
The NOH8 Campaign has received overwhelming support from around the world, appearing on various local and national news programs and publications. The images are currently being used on various social networking sites to spread the message of equality, predominantly Facebook and Twitter. Eventually the images are expected to be compiled for a large-scale media campaign.
Funds raised by the NOH8 Campaign will be used to continue promoting and raising awareness for Marriage Equality and anti-discrimination on a global level through an educational and interactive media campaign.

Teaching a Patreon visiting London from California. He had his Leica M11, I was using my Leica SL. Basia modelling for us. Nasty weather but we still managed a few nice photos.
Here I was teaching how to use natural light for flattering portraits as we walked around London trying to shelter from the wind and rain. (My full model photography eBook should be out in the next few months. Get the free intro eBook on the blog if interested).

I've had one or two stresses over the last week or two. But I was making things a million times worse by ruminating, focusing on the negative, and not pulling myself out of my funk. I wasn't helping myself and was kinda treating myself like crap.
I'm bound to have a rough patch now and then, but I make it a heck of a lot worse by going so hard on myself. I demand perfection from myself far too often; I'm a billion times harder on poor Andy than I ever would be on anybody else in the world. I'm not perfect, and that's ok. I am enough.
I woke the same as any other day
Except a voice was in my head
It said seize the day, pull the trigger
Drop the blade, and watch the rolling heads
The day I tried to live
I stole a thousand beggar's change
And gave it to the rich
The day I tried to win
I dangled from the power lines
And let the martyrs stretch
Singing
One more time around might do it
One more time around might make it
One more time around might do it
One more time around
The day I tried to live
Words you say never seem
To live up to the ones inside your head
The lives we make never seem
To ever get us anywhere but dead
The day I tried to live
I wallowed in the blood and mud with
All the other pigs
I woke the same as any other day you know
I should have stayed in bed
The day I tried to win
I wallowed in the blood and mud with
All the other pigs
And I learned that I was a liar
Just like you
("The day I tried to live" Soundgarden)
This is the first migratory bird to perch along the Susquehanna River and be spotted, and have a readable band of 2007 (for me at very least)! This fella has two bands, a blue (NY) and a silver (federal) one. The NY tag reads: S 04. I hope to find out its history this week sometime...

It is that time of year again where Evansrobinson and I head down to Melbourne City for the weekend to meet up with Neil Winch where we hit the streets looking for interesting people to shoot.
I don’t know what it is about this city but it never fails to deliver and as we made our way up Bourke Street Mall it wasn’t long before I spotted a very colourful character. Over I went and introduced myself and went through the usual blurb.
Meet Gary Bigeni. Gary is a well-known and respected Australian Fashion Designer. You can check his designs here.
Originally from Sydney he was in Melbourne working with a few of the local fashion stores.
I moved Gary to a small arcade off the main street looking for some diffused light and fired off a few quick shots. I've included a full length shot of him as I wanted you to see his amazing co-ordination of bright colours that caught my eye. There was nothing demure about his style, from his lime green and pink hair right through to his yellow shoes. A rather extraordinary individual!
Thanks for being part of the 100 Strangers Project Gary, It was a pleasure to meet you and take your portrait.
This picture is #205 in my 3rd round of The 100 Strangers Project.
