This is where i live. And where i take photos. About 98% of my photos within a 2 mile radius of this place.
It's round so that everyone is the same distance from the center building, the kitchen, church and dining room.
We eat there 3 times a day, and have church. Not to mention the women do all the cooking, and canning there.
On the near end is a small part of our garden. The whole garden is probably larger than the circle of houses you see.
We get most of our food from there, and with 100 people, we need alot of vegtables. [oh, we eat incredibly healthy meals 365 days a year] never any TV dinner or fast foods for us.
On the top right corner there is a bit of white, that's our hockey rink, and next to it is out large swimming pool.
I really like the fact that the colony is round. It allows everybody their privacy, yet still maintains the community structure.

I have so much stuff I never came to 'develop' on the shelf, it's overwhelming. Every now and then I flick through my archives to have a look and find something interesting. This one's from my penultimate London visit. I have literally hundreds of London night shots, unpublished, unseen, unsold. :(
One day I'll clear my backlog, just as I hope to visit all your photostreams and give it some decent attention - I've been terribly neglecting you all. Anyway. Happy shooting! :)
Also: look at that brilliant Nikon 35mm f/2.0. It's cheap, it's small, it gets plenty of undeserved flak on the internet, but it's a *KILLER* prime at night - as you can see. Get it!

Strobist info: Nikon SB-910 fired bare at ceiling at 1/8th (triggered with YongNuo trigger). YN568EX 1/2 power bare fired pretty much from where the camera is (slightly lower).
I feel good uploading this. Not because I think the photo is great or anything (it's ok-to-good), but because I've felt in a bit of a creative rut over the last week. Yesterday was the first photo in a while I am super happy with. So today I was feeling pretty pumped about photography and life in general :)
I forgot to say, 6 days ago I challenged myself to not take a photo in my apartment for 2 weeks. It's been lots of fun so far, though challenging since I can't take all my studio gear (though I did take a few photos in my apartment stairwell). Challenges are good ^_^

Saint Agnes Roman Catholic Church--Detroit MI .This Gothic style church was built in 1924 to serve the affluent La Salle Gardens area. The parish itself was organized in 1914 and used a temporary structure for worship until this edifice was built. As Saint Agnes, the parish closed in 1989.

689 Princes Street: This home was built in approximately 1875 by Abraham Joseph Evans (1839-1912) who was an architect and builder from Swansea, South Wales, who came to Bruce County in 1861. Keiko sent me something lovely in the mail from Japan...these hearts which symbolize for love. The idea was to spread love around the world one letter at a time. I love receiving letters and getting hearts in the mail was even sweeter. Keiko, thank you so very much.

Shun Ping Street Murals
Shun Ping Street is located near the old fire station. Its name suggests good luck and wellbeing. Along the street, there are two murals depicting the deity-thanking ceremony, a traditional cultural event in Sha Tau Kok. To date, Sha Tau Kok residents still celebrate the Tin Hau Festival annually, and a large-scale ceremony takes place every 10 years. In the murals, you can see one of the most distinctive celebrations — the dragon boat dance performed by Hoklo women.

One of the rollerbladers last night in the Grand Palais, doing a grind on a metallic railing . No special effects here, this is straight out of the camera :-)
If you look closely (easier with large size), you can see the 2 dark silhouettes of the skater still jumping onto the rail a moment before, and sliding a moment after. I'm not sure what caused this, might be a combination of my own flash and someone's else on the other side I think ?
