Excerpt from montorford.com/en-ca/summer/tips-from-the-locals/circuit-...:

This hidden gem is a raised wooden walkway, firmly anchored in rock at the mountain’s edge, that offers the best views from the summit.

It gradually climbs up the mountain in stages until you reach a rocky cliff, where its T-shaped configuration makes for a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire region and will leave you feeling like you’re suspended in air.

The Circuit Altitude is ideal for the whole family, and it offers several lookout spots with picnic tables so you can take a well-deserved lunch or snack break, or just enjoy the sun. You won’t be able to get enough of the incredible view of the Appalachian Mountain Range with its array of shining lakes in the distance.

The landscape stretches for miles from all sides of the mountain. On the left you can see the City of Magog, the small Lake Magog and the impressively large Lake Memphrémagog. To the right, Lake Orford shines in the sun and the hilly terrain stretches far into the distance. This is a view you won’t likely forget, so come immerse yourself in the beauty of our gorgeous landscape.

Well, last week I asked what you guys thought I should do for my 100th photo (here).

Brian Chu told me to do a nice plain Jane landscape, so here's my boring old landscape (1 day early, got something else planned for tomorrow). The view is a panorama straight off my balcony, featuring Domo

You guys should check out Brian's photos, he's got some killer shots of Melbourne; he really does our lovely city justice. Follow him on Tumblr! mrbrianchu.tumblr.com

The ministry of time

Chapter II: The Mystery of the Incubators

The style card and credits here

Sam found himself alone in the laboratory, the dim lights flickering intermittently over the equipment. A bottle of beer was within his reach as he immersed himself in his thoughts. Recently, an unusual event had shaken his scientific world: the disappearance of a body from the incubators. This act not only defied the laws but also raised serious questions about the integrity of the timeline.

As the golden liquid flowed down his throat, Sam pondered the possible devastating consequences that this incident could unleash. What effect would it have on historical evolution? How would it alter temporal continuity? These questions haunted him, filling his mind with unease and concern.

An even more alarming idea seized his thoughts: Who could have orchestrated this act and for what purpose? Time travel technology was heavily regulated, its illegal use a serious offense. Only a few would have access to it, and none of them would have noble motives to carry out such an action.

As Sam delved into his reflections, a determination grew within him: he must uncover the truth behind this enigma. Not only for the sake of the scientific community and temporal stability but also for his insatiable thirst for knowledge. With determination in his gaze, he promised himself that he would not rest until he found answers and ensured that temporal integrity remained intact.

▶ "Packera glabella (formerly Senecio glabellus) is one of several plants with the common name butterweed — but also is known as yellowtop, cressleaf groundsel, and floodplain ragwort. It is native to central and southeastern North America. Butterweed grows in clay and loam soils in disturbed areas and in prairie and floodplain habitats. It is toxic when eaten by humans."

Wikipedia.

▶ "Butterweed usually has 13 yellow ray florets, but may have as few as 8. There may be 50 or more yellow disc florets. A somewhat early spring flower, it can be found blooming March through May. Among other insects, mosquitos are pollinators for this plant. Butterweed grows to about 2½ feet tall (76 cm). There is a main, glabrous [hairless] stem which is usually distinctly striped, pink to purple. The flower heads form on stems arising from the leaf axils. The leaves are pinnately lobed [resembling a feather]. There may be up to 5 pairs of lateral lobes and a terminal lobe, with the lobes getting larger toward the end of the leaf."

Anema e core ... Pino Daniele

Anema e core ... Perry Como

Along the way most fashionable island of Capri among prestigious boutiques and luxury hotels is a small white door almost hidden, this is precisely the entry of local busiest nights of Capri: the Anema e Core.

Of international fame is the hub of nightlife in Capri, you can meet people in every type from the pop star to politician, industrialist to television presenters, philosophers, sportsmen, models, even members of various royal lines.

The creator of this magic ... Guido Lembo.

'The night belongs to undisputed ruler of Capri, the emperor who commands the supreme night on the island from midnight dawn, a man capable of unleashing the most modest of politicians in spontaneous performances by singing loudly recited from the stage, or to encourage the more reserved of the stars to practice exotic dance worthy of the most energetic dancers. Just enter his kingdom to lift any restraint, and who fails, we think Guido, skilled master of ceremonies. '

The Baztan valley is a land of noblemen, indianos who returned after making their fortunes in the Americas, smugglers, shepherds and pilgrims who travelled to Santiago along the alternative route that crosses the valley.

Baztan is an evergreen valley with an Atlantic climate and is also the largest municipality in Navarre, covering 374 square kilometres, 15 towns/villages and dozens of caseríos (farmhouses) that dot a landscape of cultivated fields, woods, and meadows in which livestock graze.

There are several medieval palaces and noble houses in the valley, all of them well kept and of great beauty.

The visitor to Arrraioz is met by the haughty figure of the Palace of Jauregizar, a tower of medieval origin with a wooden platform at the top. The road to Ziga leads up to the belvedere of the Baztan, which offers excellent views over the area.

The commercial and administrative centre of Baztan is Elizondo, with its noble houses, palaces and monumental and religious buildings. Baztan has interesting museums such as the ethnographic museum dedicated to Jorge Oteiza (Elizondo) or the Santxotena sculpture museum (Arizkun). It also has delightful spots such as the Xorroxin waterfall (Erratzu), the dolmens of Izpegi and the megaliths of Erratzu-Aldudes.

On the way to the border with France, a road at the top of the Otsondo pass leads to Urdazubi/Urdax, where you can see a mill, a monastery and the spectacular caves of Ikaburu. A guided tour reveals beautiful formations of stalactites and stalagmites and the flowing waters of the Urtxuma, a stream that runs through the caves.

Caves of Urdazubi/Urdax are linked by road or a signposted path to those of Zugarramurdi, which history and legend have always associated with witchcraft.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To dream the impossible dream

To fight the unbeatable foe

To bear with unbearable sorrow

To run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong

To love pure and chaste from afar

To try when your arms are too weary

To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest

To follow that star

No matter how hopeless

No matter how far

To fight for the right

Without question or pause

To be willing to march into Hell

For a heavenly cause

And I know if I'll only be true

To this glorious quest

That my heart will lie peaceful and calm

When I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this

That one man, scorned and covered with scars

Still strove with his last ounce of courage

To reach the unreachable star

Excerpt from www.teamlab.art/ew/resonating_microcosms_mossgarden_plane...:

Moss Garden of Resonating Microcosms - Solidified Light Color, Dusk to Dawn

Ovoids that change appearance with the sunrise and sunset are laid out in the moss garden.

With sunrise, the ovoids begin to reflect the world around them. When pushed down by a person or blown by the wind, the ovoid falls back and then rises, releasing a resonating tone. The ovoids around it also respond one after another, continuing to resonate with the same tone.

As the sun sets, the ovoids shine by themselves. When an ovoid is pushed by a person or blown by the wind, it shines brightly and emits a sound tone, as it rights itself. The ovoids around it also respond one after another, emitting the same light color and sound tone that continues to resonate out.

The space of the work is interactively transformed under the influence of the wind, rain, and the behavior of the people in the space, making the environment and the people a part of the work. When the wind is quiet and people are still, the ovoids begin to flicker slowly.

teamLab is experimenting with the concept of color. The ovoids can change into a total of 61 newly-defined Solidified Light Colors.

It is said that mosses were the first terrestrial organisms to appear in a world of rocks and sand, where there was no life on land yet. As mosses and ferns appeared and forests were created, a variety of animals became able to live on land.

Since water inside cells is essential for living things, if the body lacks water, it will die. Mosses, on the other hand, are poikilohydric, meaning the water content in the cells change according to surrounding humidity levels. So moss will not die during long dry periods, and they come back to life when given water. Because mosses are poikilohydric, their color and shape change dramatically when the air is dry versus when it is wet, such as when there is rain or fog.

Tardigrades, which live in moss, also go into a non-metabolic state of dormancy when the surrounding environment becomes dry, but they revive and become active when there is water. The state that tardigrades enter, when they are neither living nor dead, is called cryptobiosis. This may cause us to consider what it means to be alive.

Summer is prime season for construction where we live, and COVID has not slowed even a tiny bit. We had a relatively lovely shrub forest behind our home, but at the start of the summer, crews came in and pretty much removed it overnight. There were a whole lot of birds that used the small trees in the area as their home, and they have been pretty much left homeless. Once the shrubs and trees were gone, I noticed that the birds still hung out at the area to find food, but have since moved on to the taller trees for shelter.

While on one of our evening walks, I happened across this scissor-tailed flycatcher catching break and enjoying the beautiful sunset light. He was pretty calm and allowed me to get very close. My first couple of images didn’t look that good because they were taken at eye level, and this being a construction site, had a lot of browns in the background, making the image quite dull. Then I noticed a small patch of green that I could use as the background if I crouched down a bit. Thankfully I was able to get some of the shots in sharp focus. I think it is my favorite shot of these wonderfully acrobatic birds.

Jambiani is a bigger village with about 8000 inhabitants and it is 3 kilometers long. It is located at the southeastern part of Zanzibar, 40 kilometers from the capital Stone Town.

Jambiani is an authentic city, and it is nice to watch the locals in their everyday life, on the beach, in the town or on the ocean.

Most of the people in Jambiani earn their money from the nature, seaweed, fishing and from tourism.

Excerpt from scotiabankcontactphoto.com/2022/core/vid-ingelevics-ryan-...:

Since 2019, Toronto-based artists Vid Ingelevics and Ryan Walker have charted the progression of the Port Lands Flood Protection Project, one of the most ambitious civil works projects in North America. This third series of photographs, presented on wooden structures along the Villiers Street median, focuses on the extraordinary operation of building a new mouth for the Don River and the careful methodology employed in the naturalization of a massive industrial brownfield.

The first photographic series that Ingelevics and Walker produced about this site, titled Framework (2020), captured the buildings and structures demolished to make way for the river excavation. This demolition allowed for the massive movement of soil captured in the second series, A Mobile Landscape (2021). How to Build a River documents how this soil removal made way for the river to be constructed using bio-engineering practices. It reveals the innovative bioengineering techniques used to construct this complex ecology and its multiple engineering layers, which will soon be invisible—either submerged underwater or beneath park surfaces—when the project is finished.

As the excavation has proceeded and workers have brought materials to the site and carefully categorized, prepared, and positioned them, Ingelevics and Walker have witnessed the river’s path quickly taking shape. The images in this series follow the rigorous steps taken to protect the new riverbed and future ecosystem, with multiple layers of sand, charcoal, and impermeable geosynthetic clay liner added to block contaminants caused by almost a century of housing fuel storage tanks in the Port Lands. The photographs capture the ways in which the new riverbanks (known as “crib walls”) were stabilized with logs, tree trunks, rocks, and coconut fibre material, and track the meticulous creation of future habitats for fish and birds.

Fish Habitat (2019) shows the development of a new riparian habitat, which includes coloured streamers strung across the water to deter geese from landing and eating vegetation that will provide food for fish. In Stratified River Ingredients (2021) a worker strides past stepped blankets of biodegradable coconut fabric, which will help hold the riverbank soil together until plant root systems are in place. In this series the new river comes to life. Its plants and banks, its roots and rocks and sands can all be seen coming together in Meander (2021). All of these innovative bioengineering techniques have been employed in similar projects around the world where nature is fast-tracked, but it’s unusual to have so many techniques applied simultaneously, and on such a vast scale.

At times during this massive project, something as small as an unidentified plant can halt construction. Transplanting #1 and #2 (2021) show crews salvaging plants for storage after strange, bulrush-like plants sprouted unexpectedly after 100 years of dormancy underground. These were likely remnants of the site’s original wetlands, which germinated when sunlight hit the excavated mud. Some of the plants were taken to a greenhouse laboratory at the University of Toronto, and others were transplanted to the Leslie Street Spit, located nearby along the waterfront. Even with the most meticulously planned naturalization processes, nature can still surprise us.

Following their documentation of the processes of destruction and removal required to prepare the site, this third series of work in Ingelevics and Walker’s multi-year project allows viewers to witness the construction of these new, interconnected habitats and structures. Their photographs offer glimpses into the makings of a highly creative built ecology, one that has looked to nature in order to artificially recreate it.

As I hid my differences

Air or under false pretenses

I thought that others do not dance

Me hiding in the eyes of people

I have never followed your route

I wanted to trace my way

To go higher, go higher

Or we forget memories

Jump higher, go higher

Move towards the future

I lost both times the trace

Dreams where I lived

I have not been able to tell you I love you

Only you keep

It must also be doubts

And ask them in other hands

To go higher, go higher

And draw memories

Jump higher, go higher

And believe in the future

To go higher, go higher

And draw memories

Jump higher, go higher

And believe in the future

Jump higher, go higher

Move towards the future.
