Made a quick 2 day dash up to the U.P. this week with some targets in mind, LS&I was surprisingly quiet, but this enabled me to stop focusing on the endangered greens and finally shoot some pics and video of some other things.. High on the list was to run down to the dock, and finally, shoot something in screaming light. I pulled up just in time to find the afternoon dock job charging the dock while the Honorable James Oberstar unloaded limestone at Presque Isle.

While cleaning up my desktop I stumbled over a link I didn't recognize any more. When I opened it, I found myself on a website listing the winners and honorable mentions of a photo contest I must have taken part in ... :-))).

This image is from Jökulsárlón lagoon behind Diamond Beach, Iceland. The day was gray and there was fog and light rain. I decided to try to get some intimate landscapes image by using a long lens (150-600mm). I think it was the right thing to do, since I was able to emphasize the different tonality of blue and gray of the icebergs. This one is the image I liked more of that session

Hi Folks,
there’s no new adventure to report of because this is a very special day as it is Someone’s Bearsday today. Just picked a lovely rose for the Birthday Child. Well, I know we are not allowed to pick flowers here, that’s why this lovely tea rose does not come from our own garden. Hope that is o.k. My present for HER will be a surprise party. The complete Teddy Bear Clan including PLOP and TABALUGA, SEVEN as well as all the sheep and also the bulls from the neighbourhood, the squirrels, all the birds, and of course the Royal Arrival have been invited. It’s Party Time now and I must hurry up to open the gate of our Wild Garden to welcome some more Surprise Guests here

Grazing on the alpine grasses near the Montana-Wyoming border, these goats are well-suited for this cold and windy, rocky and rugged terrain with their split hooves and thick coats.
- I recently entered a print of this image and "Honorable Mention 2" just next to this one in a local photo club exhibit & competition. I was tickled and surprised when I found out late last week that they had both gotten an honorable mention. It was a small exhibit, but my first so I thought getting an HM was pretty cool.
I have to say too that this is one of the first decent sized prints (11"X17") I'd ever had made of one of my pics and my WHAT A DIFFERENCE it makes when you can hold the image in your hands!
Yes... I posted this image some time ago in a slightly different crop... I thought the occasion of my first competition warrented a little celebration via a re-post.
