This was taken at 11:30pm when the park rangers are gone. They will not allow tripods. This is a 2 min. exposure at f4, ISO 1600. Canon 5DMarkII. I am walking through the image with two Canon strobe flashes to illuminate the names on the wall.
Great new group for us fellas! Honored to be chosen as group cover too :) Be sure to check out the group, and the other great photos in it here: www.flickr.com/groups/4165395@N25/
I wish I had a better photo to honor him with, but this one reminds me of how his heart felt empathy and humanity made him stand out amidst the throngs of people that surrounded him with all their mendacities.
I'm not a religious man, but God bless you, Jimmy Carter.

“Even the smallest act of service, the simplest act of kindness, is a way to honor those we lost, a way to reclaim that spirit of unity that followed 9/11.”

Union Pacific newest specially painted unit sits idle in the yard in Council Bluffs, IA. This SD70M is wearing the number "1616" in honor of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States. Additionally, while the paint scheme is similar to that of UP 4141, painted in honor of George W Bush, the colors on this Abraham Lincoln unit are unique. The inspiration for the colors come from colors used around Abraham Lincoln's time.

On a warm and stormy December afternoon, CSXT locomotive 911 leads southbound I033-11 at Ashland, Virginia. This locomotive is painted in a special scheme dedicated to honoring first responders. As many of you know, I come from a family with a public safety background, so it was VERY cool that this ran on a Saturday and I could go see it. I really appreciated the engineer's enthusiasm, and you can see him giving us a big wave as they rolled through town.
This is a view of the main pond at Honor Heights Park in Muskogee. While we were exploring the park area these tree roots sticking up out of the ground caught my attention. I thought they would make an interesting view. We tried to look up what kind of tree grows like this and we think these are a type of cypress tree. If anyone can add to the identification of it, I would like to hear from you. This park really is a beautiful place to visit. I wish we had one like it in my town.

I shaved my head today in honor of my friends that are dealing with cancer. St. Baldrick's is a non-profit organization raising money for a cure. I didn't have much time to raise money but wanted to stand in solidarity with everyone that has to lose their hair because of cancer. If you would like to donate to the cause you can still do that here: www.stbaldricks.org/participants/shavee_info.html?Partici... Thank you all...I will keep shaving for a cure!!
Before the visitation on Wednesday the great grandkids really enjoyed coloring, drawing, and writing beautiful OH SO BEAUTIFUL letters, cards, and pictures for my beloved Grandma.
My grandma was buried with so many beautiful and heartfelt things from the great grandkids and from all of us.
I know she is so happy in heaven right now.
And I know she feels our love.
