Honesty is such a lonely word
Everyone is so untrue
Honesty is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you
Honestidad es una palabra solitaria
Todo el mundo es tan poco sincero
Honestidad se escucha raramente
y es principalmente lo que necesito de ti
Billy Joel Honesty
She photographs what she likes, simply and directly. All photographers start off with this honesty but most unfortunately lose it as soon as they attempt to become a “better” photographer. Their integrity is swamped by gimmickry and the control of technique. Too often photographers aim for visual effect. Pure boredom. They should forget about being conscious of composition and attempt to be more conscious of feeling. Good photographs come from a photographer having a genuine feeling towards a subject and a desire to record it. If you photograph something that really interests you in a direct and simple way it is a fair bet that your pictures will be more significant.

Lyrics by Billy Joel
If you search for tenderness
It isn't hard to find
You can have the love you need to live
But if you look for truthfulness
You might just as well be blind
It always seems to be so hard to give
Honesty is such a lonely word
Everyone is so untrue
Honesty is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you
I can always find someone
To say they sympathize
If I wear my heart out on my sleeve
But I don't want some pretty face
To tell me pretty lies
All I want is someone to believe
Honesty is such a lonely word
Everyone is so untrue
Honesty is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you
I can find a lover
I can find a friend
I can have security until the bitter end
Anyone can comfort me
With promises again
I know, I know
When I'm deep inside of me
Don't be too concerned
I won't ask for nothin' while I'm gone
But when I want sincerity
Tell me where else can I turn
'Cause you're the one I depend upon
Honesty is such a lonely word
Everyone is so untrue
Honesty is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you
Honesty
.....the ONLY policy!!
Honesty (Lunaria) - in my garden and in my heart. With the latter, unlike the former, it doesn't just appear in spring, there are no stages, no tweaking, no compromises and no exceptions, it is a guiding Light, Take it or leave it.
In the times of inversion and great deceit in which we live, a world where lies are the accepted norm, from the very top down and throughout all media, then speaking the truth is considered a subversive act ..... or at least it soon will be.
It is an interesting contemplation that honesty and truth are not necessarily synonymous. Truth by definition is honest, but without honesty that which is true can be difficult to discern.
This flower also has lovely papery white seed pods that the sun shines through and illuminates in autumn.

It took me a while before I knew how to present this photo, until a few days ago. Happy Window Wednesday ;-))

We're leaving all the windows open
We don't even mind the rain
Or where we let the floors get wet
So what if the hardwood stains?
'Cause we're collecting evidence
Of one remarkable storm
How wild it was to find it, finally feel the climate
Instead of only staying dry and warm
Rain on us, Saint Honesty
Salvation is coming in the morning, but now what we need
Is a little rain on our face from you, sweet Saint Honesty
So we won't sleep tonight
While we brace against the wind
Oh, these hearts, they're weather-makers
We'll go where they take us
Until we find ourselves shelter again
We won't settle for the silence
We won't drown in the tears
We'll say every single word even if we think they'll hurt
Let the rain wash away these tears
Rain on us, Saint Honesty
Salvation is coming in the morning, and now what we need
Is a little rain on our face from you, sweet Saint Honesty
Oh, we won't let go, we'll be soaked to the bone
Baptized by truth, we will reap what we sow
Build our own higher ground when the rain's coming down
This is worth it to me, Saint Honesty
Rain
Salvation is coming in the morning
Wait patiently, aiming straight for it
But now what we need
Is a little rain on our face from you, sweet Saint Honesty

I had posted a photo of these growing in my yard earlier in the year. See below in comments.
Honesty, of the genus Lunaria, silver dollar plants are named for their fruit, with pods dry to flat silverish discs about the size of — you guessed it! — silver dollars. from Wikipedia

She insists she is not a real fortune teller. She's a fake! There is a lot of irony in that statement. I liked her honesty and her sense of humor. I ran into her down on Union Street today where they had the annual Easter Sunday street faire and parade. She's an entertainer and she charmed me into taking her photo.
On her website she claims to be Auntie Mame, Dame Edna and Nostrodamus rolled into one. She reminded more of my Aunt Peggy!

I've not done a "real" bokeh photo for Wednesday for ages so this afternoon I put the 50mm on the camera and ventured forth into the garden. I took this one between gusts of wind.
Processed with Flypaper Apple Blush and a yet unnamed new texture (which you can't even see in any case :-).

This grows as a wild flower in my garden. It's seed pods when dried are much used by flower arrangers. An example of it's flat round seed pods may be seen just to the right of the flower above. They become silvery white, translucent and papery with time.

Lunaria Annua.
This biennial plant comes in white or purple, and, apart from it's sweet-smelling flowers, is popular with flower arrangers for it's coin-shaped silvery translucent seed pods. Honesty is it's common name in the UK. Here it is , in flower at the moment, in my garden.

Beautiful flowers in my garden. Don't know what they are! Taken with Microsoft Lumia phone on July 12 2019 My camera app became corrupted and stopped saving Camera information last year.
I love Honesty seed pods for their transparency and delicacy. The common name "honesty" arose in the 16th century, and may also relate to the translucence of the seedpods. In South East Asia, it is called the "money plant" and in the United States it is commonly known as "silver dollars", "Chinese money", or "Chinese coins" because its seedpods have the appearance of silvery coins. For the same reason, in French it is known as monnaie du pape ("the Pope's money"). In Denmark it is known as judaspenge and in Dutch-speaking countries as judaspenning (coins of Judas), an allusion to the story of Judas Iscariot and the thirty pieces of silver he was paid for betraying Christ.
