Honesty is such a lonely word
Everyone is so untrue
Honesty is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you
Honestidad es una palabra solitaria
Todo el mundo es tan poco sincero
Honestidad se escucha raramente
y es principalmente lo que necesito de ti
Billy Joel Honesty
“We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.”
― Plato

"TRY TO BE A RAINBOW IN SOMEONE'S CLOUD"
Was it worth it?
We sat in the car for 3.5hrs while the rain lashed down and no sign could be seen of anything that looked like a break in the flat grey sky.
I felt sure that sometimes after stormy conditions, the sky takes on a dramatic feel.
When finally the rain eased but still the sky was nothing too great.
The temperature had dropped and even though we were well wrapped up, I began to feel the cold after a short while. I'd captured a few images but certainly not what I'd hoped for.
Then just as we'd headed back towards the car, the light changed, the clouds took on a great depth and it started to kick off. Ken spotted this rainbow but scared I'd miss it, I pointed the handheld camera at the nearest subject (sheep)
Well the rainbow continued to last and last, in fact there were two at one point.
I said to Ken, "I'm off to the Drinking dinosaur" as he lent against the car, thinking we were off.
The Benny Hill moment struck, you know the one, where you run as fast as your legs will carry you.
In my case "not very fast" praying that long lasting rainbow will stretch, just a little longer.
Finally I made it, Ken thought CPR might be in order lol!
I clicked away, hoping my quickly adjusted settings would be ok, with the newly acquired 5d. In the panic, the tripod had been left packed in the car and Ken being the wonderful husband he is ran back to get it for me.
Sadly all too late, as he cursed on his return
I just prayed the images I'd captured would be ok.
After all, it had been the best sky of the week. One in all honesty, I should have been better prepared for.
It gave us both a laugh afterwards, although we both ached that night
Almost forgot, if you look carefully there are some seals visible on the beach below. On one of the sunrise mornings we did, there must have been over 100 at one point
The Chinese New Year is celebrated according to the lunar calendar and the year of the Ox begins on Feb. 12, 2021.
The Ox is valued in Chinese culture as the hard worker behind the scenes. Due to the role of the Ox in agriculture, traits such as hard work and honesty, patience and perseverance are ascribed to this zodiac sign, it is considered intelligent and reliable.
According to Chinese astrology, the year of the metal ox promises to be a good year for economic recovery. In other words, exactly what all “people under heaven”, as it is called in China, long for the past year.

human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not
(Ernest Hemingway)
We're leaving all the windows open
We don't even mind the rain
Or where we let the floors get wet
So what if the hardwood stains?
'Cause we're collecting evidence
Of one remarkable storm
How wild it was to find it, finally feel the climate
Instead of only staying dry and warm
Rain on us, Saint Honesty
Salvation is coming in the morning, but now what we need
Is a little rain on our face from you, sweet Saint Honesty
So we won't sleep tonight
While we brace against the wind
Oh, these hearts, they're weather-makers
We'll go where they take us
Until we find ourselves shelter again
We won't settle for the silence
We won't drown in the tears
We'll say every single word even if we think they'll hurt
Let the rain wash away these tears
Rain on us, Saint Honesty
Salvation is coming in the morning, and now what we need
Is a little rain on our face from you, sweet Saint Honesty
Oh, we won't let go, we'll be soaked to the bone
Baptized by truth, we will reap what we sow
Build our own higher ground when the rain's coming down
This is worth it to me, Saint Honesty
Rain
Salvation is coming in the morning
Wait patiently, aiming straight for it
But now what we need
Is a little rain on our face from you, sweet Saint Honesty

Happy Monday everyone, hope it's a more inspiring one than mine has been :-)
Thanks as always to Paul for his beautiful tintype texture and scratches.
I was going to leave this B&W, but after playing with different tones, I felt sepia suited it more.

This grows as a wild flower in my garden. It's seed pods when dried are much used by flower arrangers. An example of it's flat round seed pods may be seen just to the right of the flower above. They become silvery white, translucent and papery with time.

Beautiful flowers in my garden. Don't know what they are! Taken with Microsoft Lumia phone on July 12 2019 My camera app became corrupted and stopped saving Camera information last year.
I love Honesty seed pods for their transparency and delicacy. The common name "honesty" arose in the 16th century, and may also relate to the translucence of the seedpods. In South East Asia, it is called the "money plant" and in the United States it is commonly known as "silver dollars", "Chinese money", or "Chinese coins" because its seedpods have the appearance of silvery coins. For the same reason, in French it is known as monnaie du pape ("the Pope's money"). In Denmark it is known as judaspenge and in Dutch-speaking countries as judaspenning (coins of Judas), an allusion to the story of Judas Iscariot and the thirty pieces of silver he was paid for betraying Christ.
