A few days ago I commented on a stunning B&W portrait, on a contacts stream (Charlotte) and mentioned that one of the weddings I had done was entirely in mono, she said she would like to see a mono wedding image, so I thought why not. I didn't want to show any faces so ended up with this image. The formal images of the bride and groom were finished in the garden of the hotel and we were heading back to the reception, i grabbed this candid shot, the ones I like the most !!

As a freelancer I can relate to this image, the struggle to make living using antiquated equipment, the long hours and stressful delays.
I made the image in taxi on the way back from a meeting with a potential client on the banks of the Cairo Nile, we were stuck in the mother of all traffic jams, the driver was tired and stressed, I was, for once content as I had eaten fish and concluded what I thought was a successful meeting. Now I look back, the real success was this image, which is one of my favourites.

On hire to DCR, 56049 Robin of Templecombe leads 4Z14 Ravenhead Sidings to Chaddesden Sidings. It's strange DCR don't use one of their own Class 56s, instead opting to hire locos in to cover for their 60s.
Seen at Anglesea with the FFF+. These boats were available for hire for a short cruise down the river.
On hire from GBRf, 60096 'SKIDDAW' (with Laira depot sticker !) works DCR's 6Z52 07.04 Tytherington-Quainton Railhead past Crofton on 04/03/25.

A late running 6L92 is seen at Egleton south of Oakham with GBRF hire in 60021. 6L92 1108 Chaddesden sidings - Kings Lynn T.C. which was running about 90 minutes late when past me 10/1/25. (Taken using a pole)
After heading north on 6S31 the previos day, hired in Freighliner 70009 (hired by Colas) heads north with 6A65 Oxwellmains - Aberdeen between Kinbuck and Greenloading. 06/05/25
Bowen Rail Company train BA15 approaches Armuna loop hauled by 3 Pacific National 83 class, hauling 84 brand new coal hoppers.
With the recent arrival of two more narrow gauge GT46CU-ACe Gen III locos, it was anticipated that Bowen Rail Company would no longer need hired Pacific National 83 class assistance to operated there 6 coal sets.
Bowen Rail Company now rosters 16 Progress Rail GT46's, however due to reliability they struggle to have 10 in service.
Dover & Delaware River local freight RP-2 squeezes west between the NJT rush. The NJT Geep leads a home road engine due to PTC. With only one track open between Dover and Denville, they moved quickly to get in the clear.
Ready for service tomorrow on hire to The Big Lemon is Seaford & District Dennis Dart East Lancs 203 SF06 SEA. Seen in the lemon depot this afternoon.

An eastbound BNSF freight led by an Oakway SD60 with a very faded nose logo rolls through Hinsdale in 2005. A pair of former Santa Fe EMDs help the leased 9010 on a typically overcast winter day in Chicagoland.
The 9010 is now Canadian National 5453.
On hire from GBRf celebrity 60026 is seen approaching Bedwyn with empty aggregates working 6V25 0953 Quainton Railhead to Tytherington. A section of old broad gauge track that was latterly used for fencing can be seen in the foreground.

On hire by DCR from GBRf, 60026 Helvellyn passes the jungle at Little Bedwyn with 6V25, the 09:53 Quainton Railhead - Tytherington empties
Looking at old shots of Little Bedwyn shows that the beech hedge on the right has about quadrupled in height since 2012 without a shred of maintenance being performed by either Network Rail, or the Canal and River Trust.

In 1960 a boy moved into this place with his family; his father was hired to run the farm. The boy now owns the farm.
Day out with Pauls Pix 53 … first stop the beach at Pett Level, then a wander around Winchelsea then for a woodland scrabble at Pett. I managed to fill a 16GB card, so it might take me a while to sort them out :)) It was a good day, dry with sunshine and not that cold.
