A few days ago I commented on a stunning B&W portrait, on a contacts stream (Charlotte) and mentioned that one of the weddings I had done was entirely in mono, she said she would like to see a mono wedding image, so I thought why not. I didn't want to show any faces so ended up with this image. The formal images of the bride and groom were finished in the garden of the hotel and we were heading back to the reception, i grabbed this candid shot, the ones I like the most !!

As a freelancer I can relate to this image, the struggle to make living using antiquated equipment, the long hours and stressful delays.
I made the image in taxi on the way back from a meeting with a potential client on the banks of the Cairo Nile, we were stuck in the mother of all traffic jams, the driver was tired and stressed, I was, for once content as I had eaten fish and concluded what I thought was a successful meeting. Now I look back, the real success was this image, which is one of my favourites.

On hire to DCR, 56049 Robin of Templecombe leads 4Z14 Ravenhead Sidings to Chaddesden Sidings. It's strange DCR don't use one of their own Class 56s, instead opting to hire locos in to cover for their 60s.

A late running 6L92 is seen at Egleton south of Oakham with GBRF hire in 60021. 6L92 1108 Chaddesden sidings - Kings Lynn T.C. which was running about 90 minutes late when past me 10/1/25. (Taken using a pole)

The wooden church was built in 1667 and a bell tower in 1686. Since the congregation was poor, it was not until 1693 that they could afford to hire a church painter for the decorations inside.
Both roof and walls are covered with shingles and the walls are painted with traditional red paint which contains pigment from the copper-mine in Falun, Dalecarlia.
The church belongs to the Norra Mo Parish within the Diocese of Skara of the Church of Sweden. It is situated in Jönköping municipality.

Bowen Rail Company train BA15 approaches Armuna loop hauled by 3 Pacific National 83 class, hauling 84 brand new coal hoppers.
With the recent arrival of two more narrow gauge GT46CU-ACe Gen III locos, it was anticipated that Bowen Rail Company would no longer need hired Pacific National 83 class assistance to operated there 6 coal sets.
Bowen Rail Company now rosters 16 Progress Rail GT46's, however due to reliability they struggle to have 10 in service.
Die Mannheimer 365 664 verdingte sich am 15. Januar 1997 im Germersheimer Bahnhof.
Morgens war ich noch ganz nach Plan ins Geotechnische Labor der Bundesanstalt für Wasserbau in Karlsruhe gegangen, um meine Gesteinsproben für die Diplomarbeit zu verarbeiten. Dichter Nebel hing bei frostigen Temperaturen über der Stadt und die Aussicht aus den großen Fenstern war genauso trübe. Bis gegen Mittag sich die Sonne durchkämpfte. Ganz unauffällig habe ich meine Sachen zusammengeräumt und hab mich schnell verdrückt. Das Licht versprach sensationell zu werden. Mit der Linie A der Albtalbahn ab nach Hause, die Fototasche gepackt und einer göttlichen Eingebung folgend mit dem Auto nach Germersheim. In der Nähe des Rheines versprach ich mir besonders viel Rauhreif. Und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht.
Die Tonschieferproben von der Schleuse Wintrich konnten warten. Die zweite Schleuse Wintrich ist bis heute nicht gebaut, daran bin aber ich nicht schuld 😂
The Mannheimer 365 664 was hired out at the Germersheim train station on January 15, 1997. In the morning I went to the geotechnical laboratory of the Federal Institute of Hydraulic Engineering at Karlsruhe according to plan to process my rock samples for my diploma thesis. Thick fog hung over the city in freezing temperatures and the view from the large windows was just as gloomy. Until around midday the sun fought its way through. I discreetly put my things together and quickly left. The light promised to be sensational. Took line A of the Albtalbahn home, packed my camera bag and, following a divine inspiration, drove to Germersheim. I expected a particularly large amount of hoarfrost near the Rhine. And I wasn't disappointed. The slate samples from the Wintrich lock could wait. The second Wintrich lock hasn't been built yet, but that's not my fault 😂

An eastbound BNSF freight led by an Oakway SD60 with a very faded nose logo rolls through Hinsdale in 2005. A pair of former Santa Fe EMDs help the leased 9010 on a typically overcast winter day in Chicagoland.
The 9010 is now Canadian National 5453.

With Grand Central's plans to run services from London Euston to Blackpool abandoned because of the Covid-19 pandemic one of the GCR liveried class 90's (90 029) that was to be on long term hire from DB Cargo to GCR has returned to more mundane duties working freights. It is coupled to class mate 90 039 in the new "Backbone of the Economy" livery.
Looking on to the right is Freightliner Heavy Haul 66 537 stabled with engineers train 6Y52 the 19.02 to Tebay for the following evening. The class 90's were on route to Crewe ETD as I believe one has developed a TDM fault causing them to stop speaking to one another when in multiple. Ordinarily they would have hitched a ride on 6L35 the Mossend to Dagenham as far as Warrington but on Fridays this service doesn't serve Kingmoor Yard so this pair we left over the weekend.
