I peeked out the front door, and there on the roof of the outside front door light are rain drops! There are even two raindrops zooming down in straight lines in the right area of this photo! I live in southern New England, in USA, and we have been in the midst of a drought. So happy to see some rain . . . hope it really brings relief.

Winter is winter for all the regions in the north of Russia. Even this one when we have less snow and warmer than usual. It's still quite cold and snowy. But also the curious conditions come at once - fast changing humidity and temperature. That day during half an hour the air became about 15 degrees lower. And the river surrounding the village couldn not be seen. Just the church above in the light of setting sun showed the highest point of this area.
Quite busy these days and can't pay much attention to all of my friends here on Flickr.

Summer solice meets full moon:
A strawberry moon is rare, usually once in a lifetime. This occurs when the summer solice meets a full moon. The moon was almost completely full at 7:02 pm EST last night. By the time these photos were taken at 8:30 pm EST, the moon came bursting up from behind the mountains so quickly it was difficult to focus the camera. The moon sits low in the sky and with the high humidity and a few light clouds, it gives off an amber color. .
This amature photography did not possess the equipment nor the talent to capture this breathtaking scene.

When you expose for the clouds, this is the result.
This building cumulonimbus was reasonably close enough to get a decent photo.
Dropping the ISO to 50, setting 1/800sec Shutter Speed. and f/14.0, there are still some brilliant highlights.

Este percurso circular de 6,25 km permite observar a dinâmica deste sistema natural e a importância dos castanheiros para a paisagem e comunidades locais.
The PR1 VRM – Costa dos Castanheiros pedestrian trail, in Serra da Cabreira, Vieira do Minho, offers an immersion in a mixed forest landscape, where hardwoods and conifers coexist in a biogeographic transition ecosystem. In autumn, the ground is covered with a carpet of copper-colored leaves, mainly from the chestnut trees that give the route its name and which, historically, were essential to the rural economy of Minho. The moss and lichens that cover the trunks are indicators of the region's high humidity and air quality. The mountain range, with altitudes up to 1262 meters, is part of the network of protected areas in Northern Portugal and is home to a diversity of flora and fauna, including roe deer, wild boar and even the Iberian wolf. This 6.25 km circular route allows you to observe the dynamics of this natural system and the importance of chestnut trees for the landscape and local communities.
What a crazy night it was when I took this photo. There was a crazy intense thunder storm with lightning streaking all around and tracing lines between clouds in the sky. I had missed most of that when I took this photo; but the rain and atmospheric humidity were incredible! The effect here is mostly a byproduct of my front lens element simply loading up with condensation the moment I moved outside.
I took this photo from my front steps using the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and M.Zuiko 7-14mm f/2.8 Pro. I had both mounted to a small tripod. Exposure was a little over 3 seconds at 7mm f/8.0 and ISO 200.

Most mornings I hike up a trail through the woods to fetch the mail from the day before so I can admire the early light.
This was the day before our heat 'dome' or heat wave with extreme humidity.
The light was delightful even if it felt muggy.
We are still under an Excessive Heat Warning through tonight.

The air was so thick with humidity you could almost cut it with a knife, it was very hard to breath trying to do anything outside today.

During a November walk in the Serra do Marão, tree trunks covered by a dense layer of green moss can be seen, a phenomenon resulting from the high atmospheric humidity characteristic of the region, where the transitional climate between the humid coast and the drier interior favors the growth of bryophytes. With altitudes reaching 1415 meters, the mountain range is home to a rich diversity of flora, including oak, pine and chestnut forests, which support important ecosystems for the local fauna. The granite rocky substrate present on its slopes, together with the yellowish foliage typical of the season, highlights the seasonal transition that occurs in November. The forest areas, composed of native species and conifers, not only contribute to biodiversity, but also play an essential role in regulating the hydrological cycle. Low cloud and low temperatures to start the day. 15deg C and 90% humidity.
Another early start to catch a moisture laden dawn.
The camera was damp to the touch after 15 mins on the tripod, there was so much moisture in the air.
This was one hour after full sunrise.

Back Story .........................................
Long day so I'll start at the beginning .
Arrived just after first light, Mama was at the gate.
Opened the bingo room, filled the dog bowl then
with Mama on point we went up to the roof for a recon.
Sent out the usual sharp whistle across the swamp and
Rocky was in motion. When he arrived at the same same
spot Mama and Rocky did the wild crash and chase game.
Spent four + hours on the roof addressing some of the
alien marks on the walls.
Remember I said change was coming and I wasn't kidding.
By 11AM the heat on the roof was getting to us so we took
off for the bingo room. Dogs were given fresh food an water.
Next on the to do list is a visit over where the head monk is.
Big bag of special food was made ready for all the hooligans
that live over there, same place where the cave is.
With Rocky and Mama in tow we circumvented the DMZ and
did an exit across the cement walking bridge.
One item I wanted to pick up from the head monk is another
colorful braided bracelet.Actually I wanted 3 more.
The 40 Baht charged for each bracelet goes in a donation box.
You most likely notice them on my wrist in many of my photos.
There was maybe 80 or 100 new colorful bracelets on display but Mr Murphy had to make his presents known.
Dug through all of them and could only find one that fit my hands. The woman who was showing them was perplexed cuz
they just didn't fit. I took her hand and placed it on mine. Her hand only covered my palm. We both had a big laugh and I took the only one that semi- fit, such is life..... ;-)
So now lets talk about this photo ...................................................
Mama and Rocky were waiting for me about 40 meters away.
When the business was finished with the bracelet and all the
hooligans were fed and cared for we took off along the base of
the monkey mountain. There's a very steep and very old set of
cement stairs that goes straight up. Might mention, these steps are quite precarious, dangerous and lacking in stability.
Anyway Mama an Rocky insisted on going for a hike by taking
a detour straight up said cement steps.
They kept stopping and looking back at me to make sure we were all on the same page. Well I figured this was a good time
to just follow along plus they needed something different to do.
Couldn't believe they were so full of energy cuz I wasn't !
Not after the time we spent on the roof in the boiling hot sun.
Mama was on point while Rocky stayed close to me. When I sat
Rocky laid right next to me even when Mama went far ahead.
In-fact at one point Mama was about 100 + meters up ahead of
us. She was out of sight and I could tell Rocky didn't like her
doing that but like a loyal bodyguard he stayed right next to me.
An hour later we all descended back down the mentioned steps.
Going down was really hard on the knees, not theirs just mine.
Wandered back over to the bingo room where more water an
food was consumed by the three of us. .
Made it home around 3:30PM where 3 more hooligans awaited
my timely arrival.
It'll be a couple days before I can return to The Dog Palace.
No# 1 went to Bangkok today and won't be back any time soon.
Her youngest brother is in the hospital for surgery so her return is up in the air for the time being.
It's my job to hold down the fort until her return, plus the new
bike goes in tomorrow for it's license which was out dated the
last day of December.Both bikes have been sitting 4 six months.

Mama and Rocky spent a good deal of time
chasing aliens off the roof at The Dog Palace.
Humidity and heat are quite high today which
really taxed both dogs strength, mine too.
PS: I arrived home at 4:30PM, big rain started.
All the dogs are doing fine, no new wounds or
broken parts. Their meds are up to date and
the nuns have been re-supplied with kibble.
Next few days no# 1 and I are going to be real
busy with personal stuff.
Word came down through the "grape vine" that
the aliens are getting ready for a full on frontal
assault up on the roof. Apparently they found out
that the scooter/sidecar is being prepared for a
counter attack !
The "scuttle butt" is, their plan is to flank us by
coming along the eastern facing wall while their
main force does the head on maneuver.
By doing that it will also put them at a disadvantage.
Their only exit will be over the parapet wall and
into the tree tops or all the way down to the swamp !
Their main force will be met with some ninja guys
that are now on contract with The Hooligans ..... ;-)~~
My plan is already in motion, step by step things are
already being put into place. Stay tuned ............ ;-)~~~

Upon driving back into Cairns, I noticed some cement containers moving through the trees then suddenly a big bright engine on the front. A swift U turn was made and I was heading back out towards Townsville again...

This is sort of a road, but it is just a one and half lane driveway that leads to a dead end and an old cabin.
The light and mists were heavy and beautiful.
It was a lead up to our hot and humid spell which is still going on today with Excessive Heat Warnings.
I had a look on flickr and found very few people post photos of themselves sweating.
This is my forearm. It's not as big as it looks but my skin IS all gnarly from my many years of lifeguarding. That would be before the benefit of sunscreen was known or available.
I know I've gone on and on about how hot it's been where I live in the Pacific Northwest. In order to validate my assertions I attempted to catch the rivulets of sweat pooling and trickling along my arm. Unfortunately, only a shiny wet area of wrinkles can be recognized. Well, wrinkles AND a trusty fan too.
I came across the Lobster pot as you see here, but I am sorry now that I didn't move it on it's side a little
during the night, temperatures dropped and evaporating water had frozen through capillars to form an organic pattern... there might build upon the the action of dissimilating mycelia (Asko- und Basidiomyzeten) in dead wood when humidity is very high
as proposed by Gerhart Wagner und Christian Mätzler (2008)

Wenn das Wasser im Holz gefriert, hört das Haareis-wachstum auf."

I shot these with the "Tv" effect/setting on my camera during the periods of time when the thick clouds covered the sun. That was THE ideal time to use this setting.
it was a partly cloudy, or mostly cloudy day, yet also partly sunny, and VERY hot & STEAMY July.
