extreme kayakers had to portage their gear quite some distance to play in the rushing waters of Lynn Creek in North Vancouver.
Wildcat Falls is the final dramatic drop of the combined flows of Tamarack and Cascade Creeks before it flows into the Merced River. This fall isn't in the valley--it's on highway 140, west of the valley in the Merced River Canyon. With this year's record snowpack slowly melting off, Wildcat is at dramatically high flow right now, which is what I tried to capture in this detail shot.
Car is equiped with an AEM cold air intake, Sniper reflashed ECU and a Goodwin Racing header, mid-pipe and Q muffler.
The exhaust system removes the factory CAT and replaces it with a highflow one located in the mid-pipe.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, opens the Tainter gate at Upper St. Anthony Falls lock, in Minneapolis June 20 to reduce the flood risk upstream of the lock.

on Duncan Creek. Took a quick trip back up there this morning, this time with a tripod. The flow was about twice as high as the last time I went up there. There was no way I could get across the creek to get to the cascades I wanted to. So I settled for this spot near the lower trailhead.

California has been receiving a series of rainstorms and we have more to come. This afternoon I took a walk along the Lower American River at Sailor Bar and photographed the flows from the river-side trail. We're watching around 35,000 cubic feet per second pass downstream. A cubic foot of water (12" x 12" x 12") equates to about 7.5 gallons. The immersed mature alders, about 20 feet tall, usually stand along the edge of the active channel, but today only their tops are showing above the flow. The big storm arrives later tonight so these flows will likely go up.
