The phrase, "high and dry," has always been an allusion to someone abandoned or left to fend for themselves. I have had the opportunity to speak with my older rl sibling frequently in the past month as he recovers from the ravages of covid.
My brother had been in a medically induced coma for 3 weeks, and we both have agreed to spend more time communicating with one another for the rest of our lives. It's sad that we have to come so close to being left high and dry before we realize just how precious our loved ones truly are to us.
Just do it. Renew that distant relationship. Reach out to that person you've been meaning to, but keep forgetting. Don't miss this chance to live your life to the fullest and enhance a love that could be enriched. Blessings to you, my dear Flickr friends.

Today is a red day at Color my World Daily but I will skip the color for today since we celebrate high key pictures at Macro Monday. Dont worry next week everything should be back to our normal and colorful schedule.
I must admit, high key photography isn’t exactly my cup of tea. I love bold and vivid colors. And honestly I have a very hard time with my « old » eyes to tell if the picture is just over exposed or high key lol. And I truly tried to grasp this concept and read and watch many tutorials on Youtube… But still, high key looks very overexposed to me … Which doesn’t mean that I dont like high key pictures !! And I certainly hope you will like mine (and I truly hope that my picture falls in to the high key category and not just the burned picture category lol)!
So here is my contribution to the high key theme.

On July, 3, 1863, the armies of the Union and the Confederacy were engaged in battle at Gettysburgh, PA. The strategic goal of the rebel forces was to push eastward in order to surround Washington, DC, and cut off the capital from the rest of the Union.
Major General George Pickett was in command of the Confederate forces attack against the center of the Union Army. The rebels crossed the field in this photo under fierce artillery fire and briefly overran the Union line, but were beaten back. Both sides suffered heavy casualties, but the Confederates were devastated and withdrew to the south.
This spot is known as the high water mark of the Confederacy. Never again would the North be so profoundly threatened by Southern forces. On the same day, the Union Army prevailed at Vicksburg, MS, far to the west, and the South was fully engaged on two fronts.

I still don't have my 'proper' camera back as it's awaiting a small part but I was quite happy with this phone shot. We were away in Norfolk for a few days and this was one of the places we cycled to; the old Medieval bridge at Potter Heigham in Norfolk. It was looking particularly lovely in the warm autumn sunlight.

While hiking around Cactus Flats, outside of Big Bear Lake, CA it was a picture perfect day! Mid 50's and much was in bloom.
