Established in 1992, Redcorn is widely regarded as one of the UK’s most professional and modern vehicle recycle centre’s and disposal agents. As an Authorised Treatment Facility, we adhere to strict legislation governing the disposal of E.L.V (End of Life) vehicles. If you are an individual or local authority, our team is always ready to help.
Redcorn currently contracts for 23 local authorities and disposes of over 150,000 cars per year. If you are a local authority, Redcorn can ease the problems of abandoned vehicles by offering a full service to remove them from roads and recycle them professionally, all too strict environmental guidelines.
Abandoned or untaxed vehicles are a growing nuisance for hard pressed local authorities, and the legislation surrounding the removal and safe disposal of them is extremely complex. What Redcorn offer is a cost-effective, professional solution.
Vehicles are removed from the road and stored (if required) using a fleet of liveried Hiab and damage free lifts – up to HGV. As an Authorised Treatment Facility we can also de-pollute and destroy ready for recycling, meeting all the standards laid down by the Environment Agency and ELV regulations.
Best of all we do this all at a very competitive price, meeting 'best value' requirements for local authorities.
Fully-risk assessed, licensed by all relevant environmental authorities, compliant with all employment and equal opportunities legislation. Redcorn is dedicated to recycling and promoting a fully regulated and professional service.

Happy Truck Thursday!

This one started off as a colour, namely Dark Turquoise, I had a few bricks from a set I bought to part out and had a vague recollection that Mercedes-Benz made some Unimogs in a similar colour - yes! Another Unimog.
Next up, I was chatting with a friend about what I could build next and we agreed it would be cool to do something with machinery and details. I love building shiny cars, but fiddly details are always fun and look great.
So, a Unimog build with machinery and some other fun details. As soon as I had decided on a Hiab crane I turned my attention to what a Unimog could be picking up with it. My thoughts drifted to some nearby woodland I walk through where some light logging has recently been done and there are stacks of logs waiting to be collected.
The finished build uses Lego’s very nice log system plus a Dark Turquoise ‘80s Unimog with a custom logging bed, mid-mounted Hiab crane (complete with log-grabber) and the necessary outriggers to keep it stable when lifting. Up front I added some winching and lifting gear to reinforce the industrial chic.

Without a number plate this thing is a little mysterious, it is seemingly an ex US military type M34 (designated G742) truck, given away by its single rear wheels. This was the original REO design of the rather iconic 6x6 US army truck which would make this one a late 40s or early 50s model. When it was imported is not known and it was presumably converted to a wrecker in the UK, although it looks to have had its recovery lift removed but still has a Hiab style crane behind the cab (which may be from another vehicle and not even attatched). The crane is of Atlas manufacture and capable of lifting a maximum weight of 3039kg, its VIN plate is just about readable and looks like the manufacture date is 1970. Seen here in an Aberdeenshire forest in March 2026.

Ready for their plants and flowers 🌸
All 5 boxes (one out of camera shot) are filled…
We had 1 tonne of limestone delivered on Friday, and 3 tonnes of a soil / peat mix delivered yesterday, we also picked up 12 bags of compost yesterday.
It involved a lot of wheelbarrow work. Fortunately the tonne bags were put over the fence into the side garden by a wagon with a hiab.
So each box has approx …
6” of limestone chippings at the base
14” of the soil / peat nutritional mix
3” of Miracle grow compost
Each is lined with DPM (Damp proof membrane) to the sides; and an anti weed matting to the base.
We did plant a small Blueberry bush that we already had yesterday. The small tree at the end is a conference pear tree.
Today we’re going to the garden centre for the plants and flowers 💐!!
So it will be a day of planting, and me doing as I’m told 😃😃
Hope the rain stops!

A bit of work to do…
So yesterday we had 60 sq metres of turf arrive along with 12 tonnes of grade 2 soil.
We’re lawning the back garden, where the planters are. I think I’ve over done it with the amount of soil that I’ve ordered, but if so it’ll do for the side garden (for next year, I’m thinking).
Well, I’m not a real gardener so I’ve got a gardener coming with his lad. I’ll be wheelbarrowing the soil around to the back mainly… and the turf of course.
It’s about 50 yards.
I think I’m lucky that I could get it all delivered over the fence… they used a Hiab.
I am looking forward to the day ahead.
At the moment it’s looking like I’ll have to miss today’s football … Burnley v Blackpool, a derby game too, which is unfortunate! But this has to take precedence.
Happy Soil Saturday! #HSS

Seddon Atkinson 301 cab/front chassis in the livery of Newtyle Commercials of Dundee, now identified as C180BAH (thanks to scotrob2). It has a Hiab crane behind the cab so won't have been a wrecker, instead it is believed to have been an 8-wheel flat which had its body donated to an Autocar six wheeler. Seen here in March 2026.

Workmen from Wolverhampton Corporation's Public Works Department removing redundant trolleybus traction poles on the A449 Penn Road. This was being undertaken in stages to upgrade street lighting along the length of the Penn Road to the town's boundary at Springhill. The method of removal was to dig around the base of the pole, then cut the pole off with an oxy-acetylene gas torch. The shallow hole would then be back-filled. The 5ft to 6ft of the base of the steel traction pole remained in the ground, and many of them are still there to this day.
The red tower-wagon belonged to the Transport Department, and would be used for removing redundant street lighting equipment from poles so fitted. In those days, the street lighting salvaged from the traction poles would be returned to the street lighting department for reuse.
Trolleybuses had ceased to use the Penn Road from the end of June 1963, when the No4 (Pennfields) and No11 (Penn) trolleybus services were converted to motorbus services. The overhead was removed soon after, but most of the traction poles were left in, many of them carrying street lighting. The replacement 39ft streetlighting columns were supplied by Cohen Ltd, and the lanterns by the REVO Electric Co of Tipton, these being Revo 'Saturn' cut-off lanterns for high-wattage sodium lighting.
Additionally, road-widening was envisaged along the A449's entire length within the Wolverhampton district. However, it would come to pass that only certain sections of the Penn Road would ever become dual-carriageway.
