Archiving my very 1st teenage steps with the Atari 800XL in the form of a folder full of code, sketches & references (all created between 1988-1991)... I started with writing pure hex code, then taught myself the 6502 flavour of Assembler (only learned Z80 before) but then got more & more into game design, icons & demo scene activities (as coder, gfx and chiptunes & co-organizer) and started building several tools & games (incl. The Brundles, a commercial Lemmings clone for the 8-bit Atari in '93)

There's got to be a story behind why HTML uses HEX codes for colors. It doesn't make any sense, not least because it's so damn unreadable. CMYK for print and RGB for monitors have been around forever, but here we are doing base pairs of three sets of letters (or singles if they repeat).
All I can think is the world is loaded with anachronisms like this; stuff that made sense at the time but because of their real world saturation are by their nature difficult to dislodge.
Take the base of a light bulb, for instance. Our incandescent bulbs have been screwed into sockets thicker than your thumb for over a hundred years. And while manufacturers have optimized them to use as little precious metal as possible to make contact, they still require that standard, thick screw-in base.
We're now on the verge of LEDs becoming a commercial reality. Think about those LEDs in your life. They're everywhere and they almost never burn out. Those old portable tape recorders would light up red when you held the Play and Record button without fail. We use the red LED on our work phone's mute button with utter faith that the other people can't hear us make fun of them while the light stays on.
Hell, I've got an LED on my kitchen stove that has been on for 15 years straight – every night and every day. And I have no idea how long it's been on before I moved into this house.
But as we finally get white- and yellow-light LEDs that are suitable for our homes, they will almost all certainly come with an oversized, gargantuan base that offers the only way to snug into our lamps. It'll look like two centuries are mating on a single device… which is precisely what is happening.
And so there are HEX codes in HTML. I'm sure there was a good reason for it, but I don't know.
BTW, those hex codes are both shades of bright green.

Comment: "In this show, I walked into a landscape (its title made me look for one) and I saw a clever artist taking the children's game of playing dress-up and extending it into a metaphor or a reflection of her environment and as a commentary on the making and showing of art today. The lycra covers are an integral part of Hyllemose's art and I secretly wondered if she was also commenting on how our landscapes need the kind of tender nursing and care showered upon dolls around the world." - FaSa

I picked these two blindly out of two separate cases. I'm happy with what I got. The only other two I really really want are Greeneon and Racer.
