Another (origami) tessellation study in finding (ir)regular hexagons, matching together. This time in the middle and the first circle using the big regular hexagon, which I changed a little bit, so they look like stars. And then folded the triangle-like hexagon ( which I like) and found his compagnon ;-) There are so many possibilities......!
Again, if you use paper that is thick, it becomes more 3D rather than staying flat ;-).
I'm probably not the first one who discovers this, but I found it independently.
This is how the backlit back-side of 'Tessellation T-est 2' looks like, I flatted it.
Folded from a hexagon of soft, fine-textured paper, about 18 cm, grid 1:48.

I folded this origami tessellation "Spacecraft "with a bigger hexagon 43cm (grid 1:64, "Anett paper" ) and using the same basics as in 'Dance'. Then altering this one in really 3D.
The backside, which I call "MoToR" looks different too.

Image measures 1 3/4" on the long side
I had the bowl sitting on holographic paper with a black lens cap inside. I tried other colored items - purple ornament, tomato, peach, etc - but the black looked the best. Light from north window.

The Macro Monday theme for 8/28 and I just happened to have a bottle with a hexagon design on it - how fortuitous!! Will put up the size verification and a context shot in the first comment box in a bit when I’m on my laptop. ….
My resident art supporter and I both liked this bc of the color blocks- that happened when I put a colorfully painted wooden kitty behind the bottle.... We also liked the hexagons with the star bokeh!! Remember the days when we could post 2 selections to MM?

The theme was hexagons and I'm a little obsessed with low volume, scrappy and colour! There were a lot of triangles to cut out! For the design stage I found some great triangle grid paper to print out and colour in, you can find the free download here... frommarti.com/downloads/hexgrids.pdf

Theme: Hexagon
Size: less than 3x3 inches
I arranged these magnetised hexagonal nuts ( 1cm in diameter ) on the magnet which is out of sight.
There is only natural light through the window. The yellow background is from a yellow plastic bag.
