My dear friends, see you soon.

I wish all of you a great time!!!

Heron across the bank taken from the pub garden "Fish & Eels Nazeing" What a proud elegant bird, I love the way these guys pose for me, just a shame he was not a little closer.

Ce fameux Héron gris qui est toujours au rendez-vous derrière chez moi près du fleuve St-Laurent à chaque soir à la même heure.

A portrait of a Grey Heron that was so busy hunting in the long grass that it let me approach on foot to within 10 feet. The light wasn't great and I didn't do as well as I should have done, presented with the close-up opportunity. After a few shots I was able to walk slowly away, leaving the heron to its hunting.

Just saw this after swinging around from another bird.I think I'll have to get an extender as always cropping a lot on full frame

A juvenile Heron from the same pond as the Kingfisher, spreading it's wings.

I often see four Nankeen Night-Herons perched high in a tree at Blue Waters Lake Reserve on my walk.

Many thanks for your visits, kind comments and faves, very much appreciated.

Largest of the North American herons with long legs, a sinuous neck, and thick, dagger-like bill. Head, chest, and wing plumes give a shaggy appearance.

In flight, the Great Blue Heron curls its neck into a tight “S” shape; its wings are broad and rounded and its legs trail well beyond the tail.

Look for Great Blue Herons in saltwater and freshwater habitats, from open coasts, marshes, sloughs, riverbanks, and lakes to backyard goldfish ponds. They also forage in grasslands and agricultural fields. Breeding birds gather in colonies or “heronries” to build stick nests high off the ground.

A green heron ( Butorides virescens) photographed at a pond at an urban park in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

"The great blue heron is a large wading bird in the heron family Ardeidae, common near the shores of open water and in wetlands over most of North America and Central America, as well as the Caribbean and the Galápagos Islands."

I have watched the rivalry between these herons for a few weeks now. In this instance, the Black-crowned Night Heron was fishing from it's favorite rock minding it's own business. As I watched, the Great Blue Heron slowly crept out of the shadows, getting ready to pounce on the other heron. The Black-crowned must of heard the other coming and suddenly burst into fright flight.
