... the last warm summer days ...

Besides its importance as a fragrance, lavender is considered calming to those with nervous tension. Lavender oil is sometimes rubbed into the temples for head pain, added to bath water for an anxiety-reducing bath, or put on a cotton ball and placed inside a pillowcase to treat insomnia. Lavender oil also works as an antiseptic making it a natural treatment option for skin disorders (sourced from HowStuffWorks).

herb liqueur

I brought a mixture of herbs from a holiday and mixed the contents with a very good grain. In a warm place - above the radiator - he stood for three weeks. Every three days it was swivelled back and forth so that the ingredients could combine well. Afterwards it was strained and the liqueur filled into the grain bottle again. It has a slightly bitter taste, almost like an Underberg, only sweet, the sugar makes it.

Porst, dear friends to your health!😊

I wish you a successful day and a cheerful week.

Macro Mondays theme Tea

Located in lap of nature and at high altitude of over 10000 feets near Tungnath Temple. Here research is done on Himalyan herbs (jadi buti) and their healing nature.

The name Saxifrage is from the Latin meaning 'stone-breaker'. This, however, refers to its ancient medicinal use for treating urinary stones, rather than the habit of many growing in and fragmenting rocks.

crown daisy, native to the Mediterrean, is often used like a herb.,It has a slightly mustardy, pungent flavour, similar to mustard greens but with floral notes and slight bitterness.

Theme : "LET IT FLOW!"

Sri Lankan herbal tea in an old Chinese tea cup measuring 2 inches. For Macro Mondays "beverage" theme.

This is a tiny day-flying mint moth at rest on a sage leaf. It seems very at home here amongst the herbs but I've never seen it on mint. Usually it frequents the oregano or marjoram flowers. I do love the close-up view of the sage leaf. It looks exactly like a carpet.

A Small Copper butterfly on Self Heal. I loved the colours! This little plant grows in the grass and I was lucky to get a clean shot. Part of the Mint family it is often used to soothe inflammation.

Pentacon 1.8/59mm + 8mm ext, tube

A Sri Lankan herbal tea made up of mint, lemongrass, lavender, cornflower petals, rose petals and calendula flowers and safflower. It claims to soothe and refresh the senses. The aroma alone is divine.

Can I be completely honest with you? Sometimes I hate shooting. I hate the process of actually going outside, adjusting to daylight, dragging heavy gear (and by that I mean even a tripod), interacting with people or if it's a self-portrait getting my hair and makeup done.

I like editing. I love sitting in the comfort of my own warm/cool apartment, at my comfy workspace, with a company of only a cup of tea and my cat. Being at the computer and working in Photoshop is my happy place. It's where all the magic happens and where my work comes together. I don't need to be outside, deal with weather or people, look pretty.

But becoming fully a digital artist is also not an option for me. It's not my style and funny enough I strongly believe in working in real locations with real props. This way I can make my work as close to reality as possible.

So every time I struggle. I make a huge effort to go out there, drag all my stuff to the location, get wet, cold or dirty, or everything above and make those frames. But then I'm happy it's over and I can finally go home and create magic.

… these are not ordinary flowers but have medical use... taken inside the Herbal Garden of the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences … (www.hkmms.org.hk/en/about-us/the-museum/) …

Opened in early 1996, the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences charts the historical development of medical sciences in Hong Kong, and is one of the first museums in the world to compare traditional Chinese and Western approaches to medicine…The museum is housed in the former Old Pathological Institute, which is preserved as a Declared Monument. (www.discoverhongkong.com/au/see-do/culture-heritage/museu... )

A garden of herbs with medicinal use was first opened at the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences in 2003. It complements the other exhibits in the Museum in presenting a more complete picture of Hong Kong’s heritage as a meeting place for East and West. Who knew? There appears to be a new brand of, er, 'herbal supplements' called Dogwalkers. If I try it, I promise not to inhale.

As seen on Brick Lane.

There are also alternative smoking mixtures which do not contain nicotine and tobacco-based products. There have been no studies conducted on the health effects of these non-tobacco based products, but nonetheless many manufacturers market them as healthier herbal smoking alternatives to tobacco (which is also technically considered an herbal smoke). Frequently this herbal substitute is either sugar cane stalk, sugar cane beets, or tea leaves. The reports on taste of these smoking mixtures vary widely from each individual. ~ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hookah

this was taken at a Chinese herbal tea stall in Hong Kong.

Each type of tea is served in bowls and the stacked consumed bowls are displayed in-front of the counter -- I always have the feeling that it's either the vendor is too busy to put away the bowls or it's to advertise their "good business".

Further note, for those who does't feel comfortable drinking from the bowls, one could always request for a paper cup with additional HK$1.00 charges.

When initially reading about this theme I thought it was going to be impossible to find a macro sized face in an object.

I set to work looking around the house in places I wouldn't usually and started to notice that many items resemble faces.

Eventually, I opened all the herb and spice jars and found this little fella watching over the dill.
