Hiking back the Emerald Lake trail in RMNP, we stumbled across this cow elk grazing down the slope from us. She was very calm, looking at me directly a few times while I captured a couple of images.
She had a very stately, almost regal demeanor, taking her time and carefully observing her surroundings. If I thought it would be this straightforward, I would take up more wildlife photography.

She could care less about the messy hair, chocolate on her face, or being up to her ankles in the cold Atlantic. All she cares about is being with her people. As we hike and adventure she fills the air with joyful noise and I see her anxieties of the past two years temporarily slip away. All becomes right in my world when she gets her song and smile back and I hold on to the hope that this feeling stays and helps her through her week. We all need some rest, relaxation, and time to recover, my little included.
Happy Friday all...get out there this weekend and find your happy place with whoever and wherever it may be! :-)

Sexual abuse drags a person's soul to the darkest of places. The victim feels trapped with no where to run, no one to share their secrets with. The loneliness is their only friend as they lie there numb and silent. So belittled they long for the silence forever.
Someone I knew went through this, and today I find out that she took her life to end the pain. I am so sorry that I was not physically closer to you, and that I did not know that any of this was going on. I wish I could have done something, anything to prevent this. You were my friend, and I will forever miss you dearly.
This tribute is for you. Rest in love my friend.

Iceland has a lot of waterfalls and many estonishing landscapes. It's a Walhalla for landscape photographers for sure. Skogafoss is definetely not the largest but for some reason it was one of the few I liked the most. And; next to the ringroad so easily accesible.

Cleo was enjoying a peaceful time in the garden until the neighbour's dogs appeared at the fence. She is slightly hard of hearing now but she still hears barking dogs and I wondered why this look on her face didn't silence the noisy neighbours immediately. As they had several painful encounters with Cleo they would stop barking and disappear as soon as she approaches the fence, though.
