So last Friday I had to go in to the store for some batteries. These two guys were on the corner with their dogs. I drove by them and parked and went in to the store and wanted to go back out to see them. I know, people tell me not to give them money. But you know what?... I do - a couple bucks. I first noticed when I went back that these two weren't together anymore. I approached the one with glasses first and asked where his friend was. He had gone to another corner. I spent time with each of them, asked about their dogs, their names, asked what their story was. This guy with the small dog (Cheech) was trying to get to California and he told me why. The guy with the lab (Sandy) was trying to get to Georgia and he told me more details. Who knows if they were telling me the truth. I'd like to believe they were. After I talked to them and pet their dogs, I gave them each a couple dollars and I wished them well. I hope they used it for food or traveling.... If not, my main reason for approaching them was just to acknowledge them. Isn't that what we all want, acknowledgement that we are important? I know I feel that way, so I hope I can convey that to others (that a lot of people just pass by) that they are important.

no address of this location and there are no other pictures taken of these trees from any other angles. This is due to the fact that the picture is actually an oil based painting on canvas painted by Dr. Sayed Al-Khudari from Egypt[1]. Pay attention to the top right corner where you can even see the wrinkles of the canvas since it is not stretched properly.

Another one from this evening in June, shameless anthropomorphising but I've never seen an animal look so sad, that look is almost accusatory as well; gives me goosebumps.
With one week left of slaughtering badgers there's an urgent need for people to join the friendly camps and patrols in Gloucestershire and especially Somerset. The Gloucestershire cull has been a complete farce because of all the brave souls stopping the killers, things in Somerset though haven't gone as well for our beautiful badgers. There's every chance the killing will be extended into November, just donating a pound towards petrol money helps to protect our blameless badgers : )

Story of Ludmilla Beshnjeva, 28, Victoria, 3 months, Nastia, 5, Konstantin 5, Caritas tent Przemysl (3.3.2022)
Ludmilla Beshnjeva, 28 has pushed the stroller a little closer to the heater in the Caritas tent. She is preparing a bottle for her 3-month-old daughter Victoria. Both are wrapped in thick winter jackets. It is cold outside. Only today Ludmilla arrived with her three children Victoria, and the twins Nastia and Konstantin (5) in Przemysl, Poland. They were on the road for 5 days until they could cross the border. On Sunday, Ludmilla, together with her children and her sister's family, left the port city of Odessa. As Russian soldiers marched through the city, time was pressing. The fastest way to reach safety was by train. It took them to Lviv in Western Ukraine, where they could spend the night with friends. Ludmilla waited until the situation at the border calmed down a bit. Every day she followed the news. She was afraid of having to wait at the border with her children for nights in sub-zero temperatures. On Thursday she decided to take a chance. An acquaintance drove her near the border. After a short time, they found a bus that took families across the border. They got on, leaving their old lives behind. Because gasoline is scarce, the buses skimp on heating. It was cold and they moved closer together. The bus took them to Przemysl. This is where the threads of crisis logistics come together. Thousands of people arrive every day. A transit center has been set up where people can rest and spend the night if needed. Volunteers offer drinks and food to those arriving. Ludmilla stood in the parking lot with her family. Disoriented. The children were freezing and hungry. She turned to the Caritas Poland tent. Here she found a respite. She was able to warm up in the back of the tent. Caritas staff quickly arranged lodging for the night at a nearby school. Volunteers set up a bus shuttle to distribute arriving refugees to shelters in the immediate area or to neighboring countries. Things are moving very quickly now. Ludmilla takes Victoria in her arms. A Caritas employee brings the suitcases into the car. The children quickly hop in after them. They are looking forward to a bed. At least tonight. Ludmilla is not sure what will happen after that.
