the goodie bags from my friend's birthday

Hello Kitty cake for my daughter's 5th birthday. I tried several times to talk my daughter into cupcakes instead of a cake, since I feel more comfortable making cupcakes. But she insisted that she would like a cake. This is the second cake I've ever covered with fondant. I've been reading lots of tips from all of you Flickr cake stars, and I wouldn't have know to chill/freeze the cake before covering with fondant. I think that really helps.

Oh, don' t give me credit for the Hello Kitty on top, it's a store-bought Marshmallow sucker. When I found this I just couldn't justify spending hours trying to make a cute figurine!

Under all this cuteness is homemade chocolate cake and chocolate frosting.
