Depression is a miserable thing. Everything looks like it's set out right in front of you. Happy people, bright colours, things are in their place, everything looks perfect. Except for you. Nothing about you is right. All the sludge, all of the pitfalls, everything dragging you down is just right there, too. You can see it, smell it, feel it. You can trace the edges with your finger if you'd like. The sorrow gives birth to a frustration because for some reason, you can't experience all of the wonderful things you see. Right in view, you can see it. The way out. The path you need to take. It's right there, but for some reason, it feels out of reach. Sometimes, when you manage to get through, the gloom just follows, irrationally, at that. That's always the worst part.

I haven't figured out the answer.

My title here reflects the reality of this landscape. Many of these ancient crags remain completely unclimbed.

Abandoned farm near Letts,IA. The barn in the foreground is a pretty unique one in construction and design. It has an enclosed crib to store grain which is pretty rare...

I’ve been away for a few days in Haworth, Yorkshire, home of the Brontë sisters. This picture was taken at Top Withens, supposedly the inspiration for Wuthering Heights - a walk of 8 miles there and back across the moors, but so worth it.

A stone structure stands alone in an open area under a vast, blue sky dotted with clouds. Vegetation surrounds the dirt path leading to the building, giving it an isolated and serene feel.

This cloud-wrapped peak caught my eye as I was scouting Two Jack and Minnewanka Lakes near Banff. I don’t know the mountain’s name; under such circumstances I shoot first and ask questions later.

From the heights of Roc du Tals, I wanted to capture the wild beauty and changing mood of Ariège as autumn gives way to winter.

This panorama reveals a deep valley interwoven with golden, red, and green hues, crowned by the legendary peaks of Pic de Saint-Barthélemy (right) and Pic de Soularac (left) already dusted with snow.

My intention was to convey a sense of vastness, tranquility, and the striking contrast between the forest’s warm explosion of color and the cool silence of the summits.

Gazing upon these storied mountains, I felt both small and privileged, witnessing the quiet dialogue between the land, the sky, and a forest in transformation.

I hope this image will inspire others to pause, breathe, and marvel at the raw poetry and grandeur of the Ariège.

this photo was shot during a blade repair in a wind turbine generator located in Crete, Greece.

Strangely when I haven't got a camera in my hand I don't have an head for heights...but give me my Nikon and I'll stand in the edge of a massive drop without too much thought....

Dizzy Heights is pretty much finished now! I will always add little things here and there and make small changes (just like I do with Dolly House) but there's no more major work to be done. This project has gone by so FAST!

Twice in my life I've witnessed a crystal cathedral in nature. Once was on the Taconic Parkway on the way to LaGuardia. No where to stop and no where to get a photo. Also no camera.

Fast forward ten years and I live in the same area of the original sighting. This time, armed with 2 DSLRs, lenses, and a tripod, I head up. Need the crampons which grip the ice. Didn't have them then. I have them now. A freak ice storm and sudden drop in temperature resulted in a prolonged crystal cathedral.

High winds low temperatures (-1F, -18C) with winds blowing making it feel much colder. Everything is frozen expect me and my DSLRs. Only saw 2 other people, who had crampons, on the trail. It was one of the most incredibly beautiful days I've ever seen.

This was taken at the top of Anthony's Nose right above the Bear Mountain Bridge.

This is a view of the main pond at Honor Heights Park in Muskogee. While we were exploring the park area these tree roots sticking up out of the ground caught my attention. I thought they would make an interesting view. We tried to look up what kind of tree grows like this and we think these are a type of cypress tree. If anyone can add to the identification of it, I would like to hear from you. This park really is a beautiful place to visit. I wish we had one like it in my town.

Wuthering Heights

Kate Bush

Out on the wiley, windy moors

We'd roll and fall in green

You had a temper like my jealousy

Too hot, too greedy

How could you leave me

When I needed to possess you?

I hated you, I loved you, too

Bad dreams in the night

They told me I was going to lose the fight

Leave behind my wuthering, wuthering

Wuthering Heights

Heathcliff, it's me, I'm Cathy

I've come home, I'm so cold

Let me in your window

Went down some wild country roads this morning. Have shot this before, but this is a new angle.

Great finding old houses in the country. Absolutely love the character, and I can only imagine the stories these walls could tell.

Hope you like "Wuthering Heights"

Cheers, Mike

This is a short distance from our home. Just down the hill is the Black Diamond Trail. and you can see Cayuga Lake as well. We took Shizandra for a walk there today.

Bearhat Mountain towers over the steep-sided valley of Hidden Creek as it descends from Hidden Lake, out of view to the left, down to the Avalanche Lake basin, Glacier National Park, Montana. The wildflowers were abundant, and there were even a few flowering Beargrass (Xerophyllum tenax) - one day I’d love to go for a hike during the peak Beargrass bloom.

A few days earlier, the Park Service closed this trail due to Grizzly Bear activity. This decision is quite understandable, given the tourist pressure in this particular area, the healthy respect that these animals demand, and the fact that Homo turistico is often out-of-touch with how to demonstrate this sort of respect. For example, there were numerous Mountain Goats (Oreamnos americanus) near the trail on this particular day, and a not-insubstantial number of hikers were attempting to get as close as possible in order to obtain their selfies.
