Van 2 tot en met 6 april 2010 vond het ‘Dampfspektakel 2010’ plaats, ter ere van 175 jaar spoorwegen in Duitsland en 20 jaar Plandampf. In de Eifel en langs de Moesel en Saar reden vele extra treinen, met Trier, Koblenz en Gerolstein als belangrijkste knooppunten. Vijftien stoomloc’s, zeven museum dieselloc’s, diverse museum dieselmotorwagens en diverse museum e-loc’s werden uit heel Duitsland naar deze regio gestuurd om de talloze extra treinen te rijden. De organisatie was in handen van Revierdampf, met ondersteuning van het Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Verkehr, Landwirtschaft und Weinbau des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz en het Ministerium für Umwelt, Energie und Verkehr des Saarlandes, alsmede tal van andere overheidsinstanties, Deutsche Bahn, DB Museum en vele museumbedrijven. Loc 50 2740 van de Ulmer Eisenbahn Freunde (UEF) rijdt bij Rockeskyll met een trein van Gerolstein naar Ulmen, 5 april 2010.
Vom 2. bis zum einschließlich den 6. April fand das ‚Dampfspektakel 2010‘ statt, zu Ehren der 175. Jahresfeier der Eisenbahnen in Deutschland und 20 Jahre Plandampf. In der Eifel und entlang der Mosel und Saar fuhren viele Sonderzüge, mit Trier, Koblenz und Gerolstein als wichtigste Knotenpunkte. Fünfzehn Dampflokomotiven, sieben Museumsdiesellokomotiven, welche Diesel Museumstriebwagen und welche Elektromuseumslokomotiven wurden aus ganz Deutschland zu dieser Region geholt um die unzählige Sonderzüge zu fahren. Die Organisation war in Händen des Revierdampfes, mit Unterstützung des Ministeriums für Wirtschaft, Verkehr, Landwirtschaft und Weinbau des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz und des Ministeriums für Umwelt, Energie und Verkehr des Saarlandes, sowie auch viele weitere Behörden, Deutsche Bahn, DB Museum en viele Museumseisenbahnen. Lok 50 2740 der Ulmer Eisenbahn Freunde (UEF) fährt bei Rockeskyll mit einem Zug von Gerolstein nach Ulmen, 5. April 2010.

Op dinsdag 13 mei werd een dagje vrij genomen om wat tijd in het Ruhrgebied door te brengen, hoofdzakelijk vanwege de verschillende Ersatzzüge die momenteel rijden. Zoals eerder beschreven leek het om 10 uur alsof de hobbydag voorbij was, maar nadat we door de ADAC binnen een uur waren geholpen konden we onze weg gelukkig vervolgen. Omdat we hierdoor wel te laat waren voor Duisburg Hochfeld Süd werd doorgereden naar de lijn Krefeld - Neuss om in elk geval de 111 054 nog mee te pakken.
Wonder boven wonder lukte dit ondanks dat onze aankomsttijd op de stek hetzelfde was als de theoretische doorkomsttijd van de RB37. Vanwege een overwegstoring verderop was de trein daarentegen flink vertraagd en zou deze pas zo'n twintig minuten later doorkomen. Na de klik van de blauwe 111 was er de hoop om nog een goederentrein te zien. De kans daarop was overigens niet heel groot want doorgaand treinverkeer richting Keulen was vanwege werkzaamheden niet mogelijk.
Tot we opeens in de verte een oranje gevaarte snel dichterbij zagen komen. Dat moest Chemion wel zijn, een van de lokale goederenvervoerders actief rondom Krefeld, Neuss en Dormagen. En in tegenstelling tot ons vorige bezoek hier in februari hingen er nu wel wagens achter. Jippie! We zien de 1275 004 met een leuk sleepje gasketelwagens voor het vervoer van o.a. LPG, onderweg van Moers Gbf naar Dormagen. De oranje MaK-locomotief knalt er lekker uit.
