Hello there,

There's lots of juncos coming through right now and fuelling up as they continue their journey south. This one must've been awfully hungry because she didn't seem to notice me although I was quite close. She was gleaning seeds from small weeds at a local park.

Thanks a million for stopping by and for leaving a comment. I do love hearing from you!

Have a terrific day!

Somehow you know you were in for a treat before you come across this beautiful waterfall. Walking on the path you can’t see the falls. You’re happy when you begin “Hearing The Falls.” When you suddenly come upon this wonderful sight you know the walk was worth the effort in getting here. Get closer still and the air is cooler and you can smell the fresh water. Nature pleases you again. Love the earth. Thanks for viewing my work. Be kind.

I've been going over to Commonwealth Lake for the last few weeks, in anticipation of the arrival of the Osprey. I keep hearing about the Virginia Rail, and where to look for it, but hadn't been fortunate enough to see it - until Friday. Came out into plain sight - briefly - before darting back into the brush.

think I'll eat some worms!

Hi There!

Couldn't help but throw in that childhood song!

Here he is, the much aligned brood parasite, the Brown-headed Cowbird (male). That means that the female lays eggs in the nests of other birds and then takes off, leaving the other bird responsible for the raising of the Cowbirds' young. As I see it, Nature has its reasons, no matter how hard for us to understand.

This male was scurrying around like a madman as he searched for food and paid little attention to me. In the right light, the colours of the male are really lovely (IMHO).

Wishing you each a safe and happy weekend. Thank you for stopping by and for your comments. I do love hearing from you!

heard my voice ; ‘to keep eating’. The Old Rectory Epworth

a local bay..... with the geese that visit daily, in the autumn...until the bay freezes over...( usually by New Year's Day ) we enjoy seeing and hearing them!

I feel a little off uploading this after hearing the news of France again this morning..... :(

I love listening to all sorts of music. Whenever I get busy on the computer I'll put these headphones on just to keep me company.

I used to hear voices a lot, but then I read up on it & found out they don’t exist, so now I don’t listen to a word they say.

The glorious Tawny Owl. Spent the last day photographing wonderful birds of prey on a course so forgive me my flickr friends if you see a few bird pics from me over the next few weeks. I'm exhausted as hours of walking and lurking and I have hundreds of photos to review. Too excited so had to at least post one up.

Tawny owls have fixed territories which they patrol very conscientiously and appear to know very well. Within the territory their roosting place is regularly changed.

The tawny owl’s feathers have a velvety pile and fine fringe that help to reduce the noise of the wings when flying, so the owl can approach its prey as quietly as possible. When hunting, tawny owls rely heavily upon their sight and hearing and use their talons only during the attack.

In the breeding season tawny owls nest in tree cavities, old crows’ nests, squirrel dreys and nest boxes; only when these are not available will it nest on the ground.

The tawny owl lays 2-3 large, white, round eggs in late February and March and incubates them for 28-30 days. The young tend to leave the nest about four weeks after hatching, but are still dependent on their parents for two to three months afterwards, and occasionally on into autumn. It can be extremely difficult for the young owls; sometimes only one or two owlets per pair are successfully raised each year.

I keep hearing that creativity is a practice and that everyone is creative but maybe don't take the time to explore for themselves. I feel like my creativity has grown out of necessity since beginning my photography project. If you think you aren't creative I dare you to examine areas in your life where you have used your creativity. You are creative and have lots of potential but like the muscles in your body you need to challenge it and work at it often for best results.

Silence is golden when you can't think of a good answer.

Hearing the WestPac heritage unit was leading a Westbound stack, I made the hour drive up to the Blair area to chase it. 1983 is, in my opinion, the best looking heritage motor on-roster so I was glad to get in a good chase in of it

A tear in my brain

Allows the voices in

They wanna push you off the path

With their frequency wires

And you can do no wrong

In my eyes

In my eyes

You can do no wrong

In my eyes

In my eyes

A drunken salesman

Your hearing damage

Your mind is restless

They say you're getting better

But you don't feel any better

Your speakers are blowing

Your ears are wrecking

Your hearing damage

You wish you felt better

You wish you felt better

You can do no wrong

In my eyes

In my eyes

You can do no wrong

In my eyes

Information enters through the flesh, i process it behind my eyes, analyze, wanting to transform it into a painting outside its frame, taking it to a whole new level. Everything you said opened wounds, cracked my spine, turned me back to ice, gave me an ocean. Give me a handle too, one inch and i’ll take a mile. I’ll pull weeds from their roots along with my damaged insides and i’ll learn again to make my heart a home I couldn’t find. Your cold was seeping into me and i forgot that i was fire, electricity, high powered defibrillator, a thunderstorm. Healing is slow and monotonous but it’s coming. It always does. 20 years from now you’ll realize you had the cookie with 2 fortunes.

You can almost hear the wheel slipping and chuffing from here. What a sight for the senses, even though I couldn't hear properly for several minutes after the train passed.

I haven't uploaded to Flickr for a while, so I'll take this as an opportunity to write some stuff on here that's been on my mind.

2014 is going to be the year I focus back on Fine Art. In 2013, I found a new vision of mine that I never knew I had, and that was for simple portraiture and fashion. It was a huge year for me, being offered incredible gigs and opportunities with the likes of Matt Corby and so many more. I met some beautiful people at meetups, photographed new faces, made some really close friends with many members of the teams I've worked with. However, I also lost myself a little bit among the Fashion Photographers whom I was constantly surrounded by (that's really all the photographers are around here, excluding a tiny few). Every time I tried to shoot a Self Portrait or a conceptual piece, I ended up giving up halfway and falling into the same monotonous routine of adding a curve or action preset on my photo and paying little to no attention to detail, colour, or meaning. My photography style got a bit lazy in the last year, but this year, it's my goal to improve on that, and come back bigger and better than before.

This photo is something I've wanted to shoot forever. Originally, I wanted to shoot it as a self portrait, but Sheri's face is literally so perfect and I had to take advantage of that. Quite often we fall into a trap of letting other people's words become our own. Their thoughts become our own, and we become confused and muddled in a world that isn't our own. We hold onto those words as if they're everything we need, and forget the most important thing, which is our own voice. I felt as if I had been pulled out of the depths of the water, whilst holding onto the words of others. That I needed to let other people define me. My life became dependent on others' thoughts and feelings and beliefs. I thought I found myself this year, but really, I lost myself looking, in a deeper world of confusion then what I originally thought I was in. It takes a breath of fresh air and listening to your own instinct, style and hear, and following that. Make your own life, and your own judgement. Life is what you make it, not what others say it is.

You'll be seeing me on here a lot more. With proper descriptions, better photos and more of the photographer I was in 2012. Hope you're all so very well.

Hearing my first Cuckoo of spring on Saturday coincided with seeing 2 males fighting over prime territory over the reedbed - in between calls and display posturing they would take turns to fly at each other and battle mid air. It was wonderful to watch! These are no Colin the Cuckoos - so were a very long way off.

In this shot the bird in flight has just dive bombed the other which is angrily protesting whilst adopting its 'this is my tree' pose.

Converted to black and white and a bit more high key. Taken in Norfolk.

I look forward every summer to seeing and hearing a pair of these across the street from us, nesting in a very tall & thick group of pine trees, There has been a pair there for many years. It's on the river where they fish, or the lake behind us. So, they have plenty to eat. I keep waiting for man to cut down their nesting trees, or someone to shoot the birds. Because that's what man does. Kills everything.
