This sculpture made of bronze was erected on World Day of the Sick, February 11th 2000. The sculpture is located in the Mater Plot Berkeley Road but I have never been able to gain access to the park which also features a large Celtic Cross.
The sculpture represents the Burning Bush. At its centre is a flame which never dies and which reminds us of the everlasting love of God. The Flame symbolises the Light of Christ which brightened our world at the dawn of the first millennium. The Tree symbolises the Tree of the Cross and Christ’s redeeming Mission. The Hands which form the foliage symbolise Christ’s healing ministry which continues through the caring and healing hands of the Sisters and staff of The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.
The gas for the flame was given free of charge in perpetuity by An Bord Gais our national gas company.

I designed the earth bubble from scratch in PS. I wrapped the world map around the bubble and changed the opacity levels to get the look I wanted.

Boots on the ground happened at 8:AM.
Arrived at Mr Kind Monks around 9:AM
[ actually we were up around 4:AM. ]
We immediately went into action
with Ms Molly the Sweetheart.
In the semi-graphic photo you can
kind-of see the large bite wound !
It goes all the way through to
the bottom of her mouth
under her tongue ;-0-
No# 1's hand on the bottom
while my hand is on top in
an attempt to show the
deep bite wound ;-(
It's deep and long with lots of pain.
This is a real nasty bad monkey bite.
Molly was given two injections as
fast as we could then handed
Mr Kind Monk some specific
medicines he will give her
over the next ten days.
Mr Kind Monk was also given
a bunch of home cooked food.
From here we went to the nuns
place to first check on Yo-Yo.
She is much better now ;-)
Nuns were also given special
home cooked food and
some personal meds.

look much better with no infection.
Ms Molly has a long road ahead of her.
That monkey bite is way nasty and we
came to the scene late but with way
big powerful MoJo medications.

Molly's wound is going to take extra
work to make sure no infection starts.
But, we are on a mission from Dog :-)-

Abandoned Abused Street Dogs.
Left extra early this morning with The Zoomer on my mind.
After we had finished up our business at The Spirit House I
helped The Nurse Nun remove The Zoomers monkey pants.
All is good. Spread special herb ointment on her belly
that the nuns had made from some local jungle plants.
Another big thunderstorm an rain is moving in right now !
Before the computer has to be turned off I want to
thank all of you who help these dogs survive
in a very brutal jungle environment ;-)

Day 4/100 Happy Days. My daughter's caring and compassionate hands. I am so glad she chose Nursing as her profession. These hands care for the sick and hold the hand of the dying. They are there in a patient's darkest hour. I am so proud of you Jessica and love you dearly xo.

Hello everyone,
I am new to Flickr and enjoy the photos very much. I am also A friend of Jim and Linda. I recived a call this morning letting me know that Jim came thru the opperation wonderfully. Linda is doing good, the next three days will be the hardest, But we all know That Jim and Linda are very special and I can only see good things happening for them.
When I hear more I will let you all know.

This sculpture in the ground of the Cathedral in Ennis Co. Clare is quite evocative! Representing the role that hands have in healing, welcoming and soothing they are beautifully carved in local limestone. They include the above inscription from the Bible!
