View of the steering quickener from under the car. It's a Howe 1.5:1 reducer, and I used Sweet universal joints. The upper is a 3/4" DD/3/4"-36 spline, the lower is 3/4"-36 spline/3/4" smooth bore. I simply cut off the OEM pinion 'rag joint', and turned the shaft down to 3/4" on my friend's crankshaft grinder. Then the lower u-joint is welded to the steering's input pinion. A bracket is going to be welded to the front crossmember to secure the quickener. Stock ratio is 3.9 turns lock to lock, the new ratio will be 2.6 turns. Quick, but not ridiculously so, and still tolerable in a light car with manual steering.
This was an early model Massey Ferguson Header used in the 1960s. When the holding bin on the header was full the attached auger elevated the grain into the waiting truck which then delivered the grain to the silo.
these are two of the 'header' structures that make up the top of the pier. Here two of my lovely assistants perpare them to be assembled. Together four pier structures are used to make up the tradeshow booth we are producing for Telltale Games to take to PAX in Seattle.
