Hayden was captured when he was approximately 8 - 10 weeks old. In this photo he is a little over a year old. He pretty much keeps to himself but occasionally comes out of his shell and showers us with affection. This is his "don't come too close" look. :-))
A minimalist shot of "Murphy's Tree" in beautiful snow-covered Hayden Valley on a very cold winter morning.

. . . You will have to excuse my posting of pano after pano, but my new phone with it's 9:16 aspect ratio makes it so easy! This is a two shot merge done in Lightroom, and just shows how broad and wide this valley is.
I was surprised we saw few animals here, because during the summer this valley has "Dances with Wolves" numbers of Bison! You can use your imagination here and paint herds of them with lush green grass and the Yellowstone River flowing through.
Have a great week Facebook, Flickr, and 500px friends!

Happy Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by and for all of your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

CSX train Q560 passes the B&O signals at MP 79 near Hayden, Indiana. This train is made up of at least three trains that will be broken up in Cincinnati before heading to Toledo's Stanley Yard.
Hayden Valley is a large, sub-alpine valley in Yellowstone National Park straddling the Yellowstone River between Yellowstone Falls and Yellowstone Lake. The valley floor along the river is an ancient lake bed from a time when Yellowstone Lake was much larger. The valley is well known as one of the best locations to view wildlife in Yellowstone.

Hayden Arizona, a copper mining town along the San Pedro River. The tall smelter stack belongs to ASARCO Mining Company, and is the tallest free standing structure in Arizona at 1,001 feet tall. The stack in the background is the old Kennecott smelter, no longer in use.
A train of freshly mined copper concentrate departs the mine at Ray AZ and is about to cross state highway 177 which is the first public crossing outside of the mine. From what I am being told, the railroad is extremely slow due to the miners/smelters striking and the railroad is running water trains in the case that the strikers try to catch the railroad or surrounding areas on fire.

Mount Hayden viewed from the highest place in the Grand Canyon. It stands at about 8300 feet. I decided I needed a photo of the mount that shares a name with my niece. I took this photo after sunset which cut down the hard shadows and left the rich colors of the rocks.
Uriah and Ann Hayden ran both the shipyard and this tavern, for the prosperous merchant traders along the Connecticut river. This building is now part of the Connecticut River Museum.
The Hayden shipyard (with seven other yards in Essex) built over 500 ships by the 1790s. It continued to be an important shipyard into the 19th century, building some of the early steamboats.
Now it was flowing....making a mist...didnt have good light so there not the greatest, but Ive never seen a waterfall change that fast....hope you like...
If you started here, go back to the first Hayden Falls photo and see what the falls looked like 5 minutes before this picture...Thanks!
The defaced painting in the background originally said "Good Girls Go to Heaven, Bad Girls Go Everywhere" I defaced it even further to "Good Girls Give Oral, Bad Girls Do Everything".
Hayden Bridge spans the Alsea River about 2 miles west of Alsea, Oregon. Constructed in 1918, the 91-foot span is one of only seven remaining covered bridges in Oregon that were built before 1920.
