I hate Mondays… However, we have to start a new week and Monday seems like a very logical choice. Today we have Mr. Severed Hand with a red band aid on his finger… I will need a red band aid, for sure, to make it through this day. Lets hope it will turn out to be na awesome day ! We are on a red buggy pulled by Marshmallow, our little Haflinger. A lot of my shots are taken from here - thank goodness for in camera image stabilization by Olympus that does a fantastic job. I also use a little monopod to give a little more stability and perspective. I hate that Roy "roached" her mane. I kept at him until he has let it grow out to its beautiful fullness! The first time we took her, we had had her shoed at home with some shoes that we thought would give her traction. Turned out, though, that those roads are so slick from all the horse travel and also so steep in a lot of places that she absolutely couldn't stand up. I got scared she was going to break a leg. As you can see in the pic there is also nowhere to get on the shoulder. In a lot of places there is a little ditch cut through besides. Roy had to get off and lead her. She sensed that she couldn't stand up and was putting her feet down like a little old woman and even then skating as we went. We finally got her back to where she was boarding and told our friend what was happening. Of course, he knew what needed to be done and got a blacksmith over right away. He put something on the shoes called drill tec and as soon as we got her back out on the road, she knew it was a different ballgame and confidently went on her way again - animals are so smart!!
